Hi everyone, since my last entry I have moved from Thailand all the way to Melbourne, Australia. I've got a few bits of news from when I was still in Thailand and then I will update you on Melbourne and my forthcoming trip to Ramsey Street! Thailand: Our final day in Krabi was spent sun bathing and looking around the shops. I also sampled a traditional Thai foot massage. There are lots of massage shops lined up along the beach, although they all look very similar; a row of mattresses on a raised platform with a thatched roof covering them. Very basic but fitting. We visited massage centre number four because we felt obliged. A lady from the centre had approached us on the beach earlier and when we said that we would probably be visiting ... read more

Feb 3 Today we droped Dave off to the vets and had lunch with Jane and Peter in Mandurah at her sisters house. The views from there were beautiful with being surounded by native bushland and a view to water on 2 sides and had lunch with a family of Splendid Wrens. We had updated our last web page and Sandy dropped us back home in the boat with a lovely moonlit view as wed came back from the island. Feb 4 Nard spent the night at a friends house so he could be up early to go fishing on the boat. Nard cought a Trevalley and one of the other blokes cought a 53 cm whiting that they cooked up on the BBQ for lunch. Meanwhile I went for a walk down the beach to ... read more

After the boat brought the 4x4 back to the mainland it was only a short drive back to the hostel from there. We had been told specifically to come straight back and not go to any burger bars or anything and we did as we had been asked. On arrival back at the hostel we discovered that al members of the self-drive were being placed back at the hostel in the same room (except for Jurgen who wasn't staying there) and this was cool because it seemed a perfect outlet from which to hang out with everybody. That evening we prepared some of the food that we had left from the trip and we all sat and drank beer to gether as well. It seemed as though everybody had had a really great time and that ... read more

The prospect of spending three full days living on a boat was something i found pretty interesting and the fact that it was a small boat with only 12 other passengers, one of whom i already knew made this an attractive prospect. The scenary while sailing the whitsundays is really beautiful and as someone who loves great scenary it was something i took to straight away. One of the things i also love about being on boats are when you swim in the sea after diving off a boat, i find this far more interesting than just going into the sea from the beach, so when it was time to go for a swim i was well into this. One problem though is that in the area at this time of year there is a danger ... read more

Well another day, another 40 degrees heat, another amazing afternoon thunderstorm and another 80% humidity (Sigh!) :( Well the bad news is my Acer Laptop is knackered. It needs a new motherboard at $900 so have bitten the bullet and bought a new Compaq one $1100 (double the spec) - oops forgot its Aussie set up so has no pound signs and the keys are a bit backwards - but then thats most of Australia for you. Also spent $260 having a man come out to fit a new front windscreen in Sheila as she took a chip off the road and with the tremendous heat causing the air to expand in the car the chip had spread into a 2 foot crack down the passengers window so thought best to replace it ahead of our ... read more

We flew over it yesterday and wow!! Mountains, Mountains and mountains... We arrived at Christchurch which is one of the main "city" on the south Island and wow...it's like a little country town. It's small, i think we actually went around it yesterday trying to find a restaurant that was not chinese or asian to eat at... :p So yeah, really peaceful city with no skycrapper....I don't even know how many people this town has but it must be below 10 000! Oh yeah, funny thing, the cold water is on the left site and the hot water is on the right ... read more

Buschfeuer im Grampians Nationalpark Hallo ihr lieben zu Hause! Hoffe, euch geht es allen gut! Unser Trip laeuft bisher ganz klasse.

Our friend Harry arrived in Christchurch in the morning from Nelson and gave Martin a lift out to get the hire car then we got on our way early afternoon to make our way to Queenstown. It’s a 7 hour drive south west from Christchurch and we saw some amazing scenery along the way. We stopped at Lake Tekapo which is a huge lake with striking blue water and a small church at the bottom, postcard perfect place with a snow capped Mount Cook overlooking it. A little further on we came across another beautiful lake called Lake Pukaki and there was absolutely noone around so we had a peaceful wander around. We couldn’t get over how clear the water was and such a vibrant shade of blue. We passed through the Kawarau Gorge and stopped ... read more

As Chief Inspector Barnaby sat sipping a cool refreshing Chardonnay at the close of a long, hot mid-summers day, Sgt Troy came dashing through the patio doors alerting..."Sir, you'd best come along with me to the village green, there's been at least 4 seperate, but completely related, killings in Upper Middle Witchellton!!!!!!". .......Phew, sorry about that - for a moment we could have sworn we were back at home watching an episode of Midsommer Murders. It's just that Christchurch looks exactly like that. Check the photos if you don't believe us. Also kinda reminds us of that song we sang as kids ... THE MASTERS GAMES - Basketball During the week I offered to help out by officiating two men’s basketball games each day. It was a pretty uneventful affair, and tied in nicely with my physio appointments with Lena. Her name is irrelevant, but in being young and blonde, and paid (by the government, not by me) to massage my thigh, I had to fight pretty hard to stop myself from saying “the pain seems to have shifted towards my inner thigh”. Nevertheless, I reluctantly endured the course of treatment, well, up until the point where she was replaced by Bob (who was neither, young or blonde {or female for that matter} and hence could not provide an appropriate level of service). Anyway, yeah the basketball was pretty dull. Only one Technical foul all tournament, and not too ... read more
