Hey everyone. Its been a little while since i last wrote, but surprisingly have found it more of a challange to find internet places in new zealand in some of the little towns we've stayed in. In south america they seemed to be on every street corner. We left Rio just under 2 weeks ago and had a bit of a journey to get through. However it went surprisingly quick and arrived in Auckland safe and sound! On arriving in the city, once we'd got over the fact we could now speak english without getting confused looks we picked up our little campervan. We have now named her Barbie since we spent so much time on Cindy in S. America. Didnt stay in the city to view auckland but headed straight up to the bay of ... read more

Call this a wet season?!?! Sure, it rains, but i don't see what the fuss is about... Truth is, I was pretty lucky with the weather up here. Haven't seen any serious thunderstorms, which is lucky, as i was camping a week ago. It is raining right now, but it is warm enough that you dry pretty much as soon as you go inside. I was trapped in the reception of a holiday inn for quite some time waiting for the rain to abate one evening. Watching people go around their business in a hotel was an interesting contrast to hostel living. Think i prefer the hostels. I got to Darwin three weeks ago and met up with the Austrian girl, Katrin, who i travelled with for most of January, and Jano, a French guy who ... read more

Yeah so Adelaide was full. 3 seperate art festivals means i was looking at $150+ a night which isn't too healthy for the wallet. Took a few snaps on the way out, but i headed off to Alice Springs soon after.... read more

Went to "Advertiser" to try for story. Called from front desk but not interested. Thought that strange for newspaper. Stood out front. Flurry of interest from journos. One wrote for "The Australian" Weekend Magazine! That's the top of the food chain. He had his photographer take some shots. Gave him my mobile number. The other journo wrote for the "Tizer". Otherwise the day was warm and sunny. Wandered streets. Still disoriented in new town. Its a pleasant place old Adelaide. Not booming like Perth. I can't help but think of those vast open spaces of the Nullarbor. Then here this busy little spot amid arid open spaces, a world of humans buzzing in their nest. Also got email from Albany WA "Albany Advertiser" saying she had done the story. Unfortunately I couldn't get the article but ... read more

viime yönä tuuli ihan hirveesti ja sit näin kauheita myrsky unia... ;) aamulla oli tytöt taas nukkuneen rukouksia! silmät pysy just ja just auki murkinoidessa. Namia!... read more

The rough seas and awkward orientation of the Nimrod meant we had to enter straight in over the side - a considerable drop. I had to put my rescue diver training to practice when Lizette's Inflator hose ripped straight out of her BCD on entering the water leaving her sinking and unable to do much about it. I held her up and towed her round to the back of the boat so she could get out and get it fixed - leaving we with a horrible swim back to the entry point! Otherwise the dive was fine - infact one of the nicest I have done. A huge rock pinnacle topped with a a beautiful coral garden with lots of clown fish (and no Kerry, I wont post one back for you). There was so much ... read more

Finally I've escaped Sydney, even though the city tried desperately to: *get me so drunk the previous night that i woke up late and packing took an exorbitant amount of time and hangover energy * delay me by supplying a twice-delayed Sunday train service * drive me mad when I found out that Central Station was closed with replacement bus services in operation! As I sat, dripping with sweat, anxious, shattered and shaking with the DTs on the rail-replacement bus idling outside Central Station waiting to start my 20 min journey to the airport in order to catch flight DJ862 that departed in 30mins, it dawned on me that all hope was lost; I wasn't going to make it. Bugger My mood was sinking fast, not least because the weight of my 28kg front and back ... read more

So, this morning I wanted to leave Brisbane and keep heading north to a lovely little town called Noosa. I packed my bags, grabbed my hat and sat on the step of the hostel waiting for the courtesy bus down to the bus station and then i hear "Hey cowgirl, need a ride?" I looked up in to the handsome face of the hostel bus driver, nice young man, grabbed my bags and loaded them into the bus and i jumped up in the front seat. Chatting away as we headed down to the bus station he says "so you had lots of 'fun' while in Brisbane" nah, i told him id been very well behaved! "We'll have to change that then" he says winking across at me. Now call me cynical but i think hes ... read more

We did not have time to go down the South Island west coast to see the famous glaciers and Fjordland or even Queentown were also too far away. Instead we spent more time on the east side of the Southern Alps, around Lake Tekapo, Lake Pukaki, and Mt. Cook. The weather was as good as it can be. We had great views across the turquise green water of Lake Pukaki, a beautiful sunset, and a clear and sunny visit to New Zealands highest mountains, Mt. Cook and Mt. Tasman. We had a really good times those days. Always in the nature under open sky, coming before the first tourists come, staying longer than anybody else, enjoying sunsets made only for us. And not to forget all the nice camping dinners with red wine and lots of ... read more

Now here's something. How unfair is it that no matter how confident, cocky and funny you are with girls that you've absolutely zero attraction to, as soon as you meet one that you like you turn into this Hugh Grant-esque, blubbering halfwit? Or maybe it's just me. Anyway, after the kind of performance in Queenstown that would have Chandler cringing, it must've been by default that I ended up travelling for a bit with this really hot girl from Cape Town called Debs who was deadly with a capital D and small eadly. No trip to the South Island would be complete without a sail down Milford Sound, a fiordland so dramatically striking that our guide advised us to rest our eyeballs on the journey out as we'd be taking them for some treat that day. ... read more
