HAPPY BIRTHDAY BEAR!!!!!!! HOPE YOU HAVE A GREAT DAY AND THAT YOU AND KAT ARE HAVING A GREAT TIME SUNNING YOURSELF IN THE BEAUTIFUL DOM REP!!!! So today myself, Vix and Colliers house mate Claire (Irish) went on the hunt for tonights out-fits.....found a few choice pieces and got our-selves ready for an afternoon start. Joined by all of Colliers Irish house mates we headed into the city to lots of very busy Irish bars, the buzz was great as there were so many people in the city with the commonwealth going on. Ended up at an irish Festival just out-side of the city...Sarah-j's (Vix Sister) friend Rob joined us and we also met up with Andy (guy we met in Thailand- Studying in Melbourne, from New Zealand), the guy who's kindly putting us up ... read more

Another delightful day in New Zealand. NZ is absolutely fabulous as you would imagine. We are in Westport now which is on the West Coast of NZ. This morning we went on a hike along the coast up to a local lighthouse - the coastline is stunning. We even met up with some horses and cows grazing on the way. Afterwords, we went to a great lunch - I had shark ceviche - Delicious. We also went on tours of a local farm and a local port including a tug boat ride. Tonight we are going to another families house for a barbecue and then our host family is taking us out to the local pub to celebrate St. Patrick's Day. It is interesting being on the move all of the time. We stay with host ... read more

In September, my friend Danielle and I took a short trip to Fiji. We stayed the first night in Nadi before hopping a boat to Mana Island. Mana is in the Mamanucas just west of Viti Levu. The film “Castaway” was shot on one of the other islands in that group. While we were there we managed to meet three hilarious Scottish girls, almost get run over by a plane at the local airport, and go spearfishing with a guy who had a furry nose. After returning to Viti Levu, we crammed into a van with about 10 other people and headed towards the Coral Coast. The driver played a tape that consisted of pop hits set to Pasifika beats- think Will Smith with a tropical flair! We managed to work in some scuba diving and ... read more

hey everyone, There will be some overlap here between mine and marcs blogs, he is sitting next to me now writing but it's been such an ace last few days that i have to have my say too! from my last blog.......Only spent a couple of days in Christchurch but really liked the place, it was so english it was unbelievable. Especailly hanging around with such fine examples of english gentlemen as Tom and Marc. Spent a day wandering round looking in the museum and sitting in parks and feeling very arty drinking capacchinos in cool little cafes. After an educational evening watching jelly wrestling and meeting people with very interesting career choices we got up early to drive over Arthurs Pass to head right from the east to the west. I got to do most ... read more

Hi everyone, sorry I havn't added a journal entry for a while. Since my last entry I have travelled quite a way up the East Coast and am currently in Byron Bay. I will just bullet point each place we have stopped at and tell you what we did while we were there. Canbera: A lot of people told us not to bother visiting Canbera because there is not much to do but I couldn't come all the way to Australia and not visit the capital. We were all glad that we came here anyway. We only stayed for two nights but really enjoyed it. It's a lot less touristy here than Melbourne. People are more friendly and we found plenty to do while we were here. We visited the Australian War Memorial Museum, walked around ... read more

This is amazing. Its 2 in the morning and I had my first warm shower all week, damn it feels good to be clean. I was about to jump into bed when I looked outside on the patio (yes, i have a patio right outside my room, a door from my bedroom directly onto it); I decided to go outside into the warm air wearing my pajamas. Being warm out, they dont consist of much, the point is that It was so nice to just stand outside with the warm air on me and just take a second to think. Im actually in australia. Insanity. ... read more

Well this is the 3am pissed blog that I anticipated it would be. The opening night was really fantastic, even though I know 'An Inspector Calls' backwards and every other way it really was a stunning production (I suppose Steven Daldry knows his stuff), and of course the after show was as expected. A couple of corporate speeches followed by some serious eating and drinking. This being Australia I had to make best pals with the tech guys in order to find somewhere to have a smoke without taking a lift 5 floors down from the roof terrace. It all went downhill from there. It's now 3.15 am, very pissed, one of the principals has been arrested for taking a leak on the street, I've made good friends with Sneaky and Grant from the crew, who ... read more

"Make sure you lock the toilet door, its at the back next to the pool and the cocktail bar. If you don't and I break hard, you dont want to go flying down the isle with your pants down". Great. A bus driver witha sense of humour. At least the air conditioned Greyhound down to mission beack was comfortable and fast, and the in journey video kept me amused. I arrived at mission beach, and realised it was infact nothing more than a beack. Half a dozen shops, cafes and restaurants are scattered on the one road that runs behind this beack, but thats about it. The beach is fringed by a thick band of mangrove which means that even the minimum impact made by the one street has no effect on the beach - it ... read more

We took a bus from Canberra to Melbourne. We spent a few days in Melbourne looking around. We went on a trip along the Great Ocean Road - this was very scenic. We also Saw Kangaroos and Koalas in the wild on this trip. From Melbourne we took 'The Overland' train to Adelaide. This was a 12 hour train journey - much better than the bus because you can get up and walk around. We stayed in Adelaide for a week. There were several festivals happening in Adelaide at that time and so it was hard to find places to stay - we ended up staying in three different places. Adelaide was a nice city - there was a lot going on there (due to the festivals). We went to a few comedy shows. We went ... read more
