MILFORD IS SOUND Milford sound, or MILF Sound as I like to call it (as it is definitely NANG!) was apparently named after Milford Haven in North Wales. To my surprise I discovered that it was actually not named after Stifflers mom. Weird. Anyway, Matt (wearing his new "express yourself" hat) and I headed there to catch a cruise through the sound. It was about $70 each for a 2 hr cruise but worth every penny. It was a bit pot luck on the weather but as it happened we seemed to catch the cruise just when the sun began to shine through. Though a hail shower did pass overhead, which was hillarious. The upper (outer) deck that had been chocka with Oriental amateur photographers, saw them flee like bunny rabbits when the chunky hail started ... read more

Weather cool and partly cloudy. Sailed on 50 footer last night at CYCSA. Very nice. Spruiked today. Still no call from journo from "Advertiser". Did meet a guy from Adelaide radio who says he'll call tomorrow to set up interview. Don't want to leave Adelaide without media moment. Tomorrow St Patricks Day so there there should be a lot of republicans about. Looking like departure for Melbourne on Sunday.... read more

I was wrong, they didn't advertise it but this hotel has great, free, wifi, so blogging continues. It took a while, but finally found out why Adelaide didn’t work for us. While at an internet cafe in Adelaide (doing the last blog entry), I went outside to have a much needed cigarette break. Then the most astonishing thing happened, I was approached by a young(ish), fit(ish) woman who engaged me in flirtatious conversation. Well, I assumed it was, I’m not much used to that sort of thing, but what gave the game away was the loss of interest that happened immediately after mentioning my wife sitting in the cafe. But before the loss of interest some of the conversation had been about the strange feeling that Barb and I had felt since arriving in Adelaide. She ... read more

Hello again. We left Hanmer Springs and then drove to Kaikoura, a beautiful town on the coast. After lunch there, we drove up to Blenheim, the main town in the Marlborough wine region. We stayed at a very nice bed and breakfast that is also a vineyard. Yesterday, we went on a guided tour of many of the local wineries. We got to try a lot of wines that aren't available in the US. Unfortunately, we aren't bringing any home with us as shippings and taxes would have been $315, and that doesn't include the cost of the wine! This morning, the grapes were being picked at the vineyard where we stayed. It was pretty cool to watch, this big machine goes up and down the rows and shakes the grapes off of the bunches. Very ... read more

Hello all!! Last message for the next 4 days for I'm adventuring myself to the Red Center today for a 3 day and a half Outback Safari tour! We're leaving in two hours (no cell phone, so don't try to reach us!) and I can't wait to live this adventure! Camping under the stars by the camp fire in the middle of the country with no traffic noise, no uncomfortable bunkbed mattress, just flies and weird animals and other people snoring :p Tons of fun!! The tour will take us through Kings Canyon and we'll have the chance to see two sunset at Uluru and one sunrise...The pictures should be AWESOME!! :) ... read more

Greetings all, Left Taupo on Friday 10th and headed to the Coromandel Peninsula via Rotorua. Elected to skip visiting more thermal pools in favour of the Fat Dog Cafe - an inspired move since it was our best breakfast yet. Stocked up on some huge slabs of cake too just incase Coromandel turned out to be as cakeless as Taupo. Passed a Kiwi Farm enroute so had a good scout round and made the most of shameless photo opportunity... Can't wait to find the avocado farms... Our route followed the 'Pacific Coast Highway' which turned out to be a very long and winding trail up and down the hills - with very little coast on view. Landed at our digs in time for a walk along the beach and dinner on the harbour. Perfect. We're pleased ... read more

Saa skriver jeg mine sidste australske strofer paa denne hjemmeside. Nuvel, jeg fortsaetter nok lidt, naar jeg er hjemme. Der skal vist finpudses hist og pist. 7,5 fantastiske uger rinder ud. Thailand YES - Australien YES - I'm sure I'll be back. Har netop forladt stolen hos Hairdresser Adrienne in Queen Street, saa nu er jeg klar til Mia og Soerens superbryllup i kommende weekend. Er naturligvis ogsaa klar til at go working again, omend jeg nok er at finde somewhere in dreamland for the next months or more.
