Of the things to do around Melbourne, one of them is to go see the worlds smallest penguins up close and person at Philip Island which is home to Victoria's largest colony of the little penguins. There are quite a few tours heading out there from the city and all make little stops along the way to turn it into a day trip and help break up all the driving. Most of the tours will run you about $100 and have options to get a better view of the penguins for an extra fee but those who did it said it wasn't worth it since you can get very close to the penguins on the boardwalk as they head up the hill and the information the ranger told them is all in the visitors center if ... read more

Well, I am about to be heading away from Melbourne so I thought I should really have put some of my photos up here. I do need to pack for Thailand though so I won't be able to ramble as much as usual. Most of my time here has been non-eventful - helping Caleb get set up. In my early days I explored quite a bit while Caleb was at work - the Botanical Gardens, Shrine of Remembrance, Bridge Rd (Caleb was unimpressed when he lent me money so I didn't need to get charged international fees and came home with 3 pairs of shoes) and around the city. I still couldn't get used to having a posse of flies that followed me and my gelato around! In my more recent days there has been less ... read more

Sydney Bridge Climb After reading carry on scrolling more pics Today is the big day,for my second adventure in Sydney. I am a little apprehensive as I am not too keen on heights, however to come to Sydney and not do the "Climb" would be something I would regret for ever so "A Mans Got To Do What A Mans Got To Do." Known locally (Sydneysiders) as the 'Coat Hanger' and now more commonly as 'The Bridge' Sydney Bridge it is the widest long-span bridge in the world and is the largest steel arch bridge with the top of the bridge standing 134 metres above the harbour. The standards of industrial safety during construction were poor by today's standards. Sixteen workers died during construction, mainly from falling off the bridge. Several more were injured from unsafe working ... read more

Happy Belated New Year to all u Bloggers, Hope u had a good one, we did!! New Years Eve obviously involved around the world famous fireworks in Sydney. You would probably expect us to be clubbing till 6am in some sweaty, overcrowded and overpriced nightclub somewhere but far from it. We spent the evening sitting on rocks on the edge of Cremorne point overlooking the Harbour Bridge, Opera House and the CBD. We (me, Daz, Shaz and Glen) arrived about 5pm to get a good spot; to be fair if we'd have arrived at 5am, the good viewpoints would still have been gone but we managed to cram in somewhere so not to bad. We arrived with 'Eski' in tow and settled down for the night. The only moan point was there was 5 porta-loos for ... read more

Hi All, We flew to Alice Springs last week. A bit nervous to not be near water for a whole week. How will we cope! Well we spent the first day working out the town, it took about 5 minutes as it was Sunday and everything was closed. Alice (as the locals call it) is a small country town, which is along a river that never runs! The following day we pick up our tour to the main attractions in the Northern Territory. Our first stop was some camel riding, neither of us had done this, pretty strange, but great! We made our way into the Kata Tjuta National Park to see Kata Tjuta (the Olgas) and the magnifcent Ulura (Ayers Rock) It was a great experience watching the sunset change the colour of the rock ... read more

I've just about come to the end of my time in Melbourne: Ive had a wonderful time and met so many good people, thank-you's go-to Curtis & Anne for their help in this. xx I have walked many a mile whilst i've stayed here: I've strolled around & meandered through the back lane's of the citys' shopping districts': Gawked through the windows of Chinatowns' varied shop's: visited Vintage clothing shop's for my next T-Shirt and stepped lightly along the wooden floors of the many wonderful galleries. One of my favourite exhibition's i've seen is by an artist called Howard Arkley, it's a bit like pop-art but more cartoonie (MADE UP WORD ALERT), his exhibition has given me some ideas!: I have included a picture of his work, please google his name to see more of his ... read more

Jan 12. Drove east. Stopped Traralgon. Spruik. WIN tv 9 filmed for Monday night bews. Melbourne a great metropolis. I love the architecture and art. Went to lunch with Richo nad Lu at old place. Real character. Hadn't been painted in 40 years. City but. Relentlessly urban. Crowds, graphitti, litter. Couldn't help but feel relief at leaving. Small towns, countryside, it just seems easier. To pull into Lakes Entrance, seeing sea eagles, black swans, seagulls, kelp gulls, pelicans and pied oystercatchers. Free parking. Free hot showers. And the spruiking is better, softer, more personal. Of course its just families with kids. That too is special. The parents, the care, the affection, the fun! Jan 13. Chilly overcast. Drove to Orbost. Good response. Drove to Mallacoota. Charming name. Lovely spot. Green hills running SE to corner of ... read more

Hello everyone. It has been nearly 2 weeks since our last entry. And yeah last 2 weeks were hectic with planing. The whole house is a mess. We bought luggages as I mentioned. But nothings packed yet. Main remark of the last two weeks was getting my little doggy "foxy master" ready for the trip. I know I forgot to mention you last time that we are organising him to go to sri lanka. All most all his vaccinatins are done except one which will be done in 4 days. Then he will be leaving here on 31st of january. We finished booking all the hotels. These days we are trying to hunt down a proper map of kuala lumpur. We have visited the local library and also got some usefull books from there. But none ... read more

After my resounding success looking after the farm for one day, John and Gwen confidently set off for Sunshine in Victoria with the fleeces leaving Mum and I in charge at the farm. Their confidence was well founded. The farm ran like a well-oiled machine and they returned two days later with the farm (pretty much) how they left it. A typical day for those not of farming backgrounds went something like this: 3am: Wake up call from Leo the dog. As it turns out his bed is just uncomfortable. Readjust bed only to find Leo sleeping on yours. Ah bless... 4am: Wake up call from rooster crowing or cat jumping on you (I think they have some sort of job-share scheme going) 4.30am: Let cat out 6.30am: Wake up swim 7am: Feed chickens, sweep mess ... read more
