Fi up the top of Mt Oberon
What a view! What a power walk to get there though! Well, I am about to be heading away from Melbourne so I thought I should really have put some of my photos up here. I do need to pack for Thailand though so I won't be able to ramble as much as usual. Most of my time here has been non-eventful - helping Caleb get set up. In my early days I explored quite a bit while Caleb was at work - the Botanical Gardens, Shrine of Remembrance, Bridge Rd (Caleb was unimpressed when he lent me money so I didn't need to get charged international fees and came home with 3 pairs of shoes) and around the city. I still couldn't get used to having a posse of flies that followed me and my gelato around! In my more recent days there has been less exploring and more dealing with sagas (such as the couch not fitting through the door of the apartment and having to take the door off and get the delivery men to have a second go).
Our big sightseeing day, we had a rental car and drove down to Phillip Island and saw the pelican feeding and some koalas. Then we had a heap of

Again a great view out over the coast waiting to do before the penguin parade started (where you watch the little fairy penguins come in from the sea at dusk and waddle up the beach to their burrows) so we drove over to Wilson's Promontory - this national park that I'd seen nice pictures of. We got held up at the entrance for ages and by the time we got in there we didn't think we'd have time to walk up Mt Oberon as we were told it was about an hour moderate-hard walk each way. But we decided to do it anyway and power-walked the whole thing and made it up, sat down and admired the view, and then back down all in an hour and fifteen minutes! It was really neat up there - we climbed right up on top of the rocks at the top and had 360 degrees of views over the coast and the park. Then we went back for the penguin parade which was cool too.
We had a good catch up with Louisa, who is here from NZ for a wee while, and kiwi residents AJ and Aroha in Chinatown before leaving.
