Tomorrow we’re off to find summer in the northern hemisphere. In the space of four weeks we will visit five countries and catch seven flights. In between the mad travel we’ll be spending time with people that we don’t often get to see and wish we could see more of. We hope to see heaps, eat heaps and enjoy ourselves thoroughly.... read more

Well, it's May and we have only about 6 weeks before we head off to the warmer weather,{I hope}, to see the family in Norway and to do a lot of different things while over there. So looking forward to it. Mean while here at home we haven't been up to much of note. We have spent time in the Hawkes Bay with the kids, a lot of time at home were we have walked, biked, worked around the house, had good weather and bad weather. We have biked and walked in the Hawkes Bay and I have done a little bit of fishing. But not enough. I haven't fished the Wellington or Wairarapa areas which is silly as they are so close. So time goes on. So quickly I can't believe it. People come and ... read more

Well it has taken two years but finally we are about to head back to Spain to finish the Camino from St Jean Pead de Port through to Santiago on the Spanish Atlantic Coast. This time our friends Jenny and Ross Shaw are travelling with us to witness the fact that we will finish what we started. We are very excited and slightly nervous as we hope part two is as great as part one. It has so much to live up to. Bags are being packed, longer and longer walks are occurring and the anticipation is growing. All we have to do now is get seats on standby travel - it will happen. We leave on Tuesday 19 May and start walking again on May 23. Once on our way we will send a blog ... read more

Wow, we are on day six and I am already exhausted. Here is what we have accomplished in the past four days. I will also include a few of the photos that I said were in the other blog but ran out of time via wifi internet to load them. Currently I am writing you from a Wellington Ferry as we just embarked on a 4 hour ferry ride to Pickin. Free wifi for the whole trip so I hope that for this blog I am able to share all the information and photos before we land. Wifi is a bit slow, but hey it's free and unlimited. #firstworldproblems We picked up our van in Raglan, stayed the night in camp called soulscape, and the next morning woke up and decided to try an take a ... read more

Hi. In late March we went down to Wanaka to stay with Viv and Charlie for a couple of weeks. For the last few day we were joined by Annemarie and Corado. For most of the time we had very good weather although as autumn approaches the mornings and evenings are certainly getting cooler. Also the trees are starting to show the colour that they are renowned for. We did a lot of walking, cycling, eating and drinking and most of all talking. Mark and Carrie Elliot came and stayed as well for a few days so good to catch up with them. One of the main reasons for going down was to attend the House and Garden Tour of selected house's in Queenstown and Arrowtown. It was a fantastic day of looking at dream houses ... read more

Hi everyone, set off in the morning and walked to the cable car at Lambton Quay which takes you to the top at Kelburn at the top of the botanic gardens, where there were great views across Wellington, I was amazed to find out that a lot of people have their own private cable cars as they live in the hills surrounding Wellington. We went into the museum and had a look at the older cars, construction started in 1899 and opened 22 February 1902, carrying 4,000 people on its first weekend of operation, also later on a tea house was built at the summit. We then walked through the Botanic gardens which were lovely, the trees are so big, we went into the Begonia House which contains the tropical plants, so hot. We also walked ... read more

Hi everyone, we are now on the North Island, Wellington. This morning after my lonnnnng sleep !! we got up, I packed my suitcase, having big problems with that !! The cheeseboard was in the way !! despite this, my suitcase seemed to have shrunk !! I said to Stu, we seemed to have accumulated a lot of stuff, what have we brought, well if he didn't bring up the cheeseboard once, he repeated himself about 20 times !! No doubt this will be a bone of contention !! Infact he even phoned the airlines to find out if we could book in another piece of lugguage but they wanted very very silly money. Anyhow, not a problem, things work out one way or another !! We drove to Picton to pick up the boat to ... read more

I said more regular? Well, it,s been sunny and I haven't spent time inside so I haven't been sitting at the PC. Can't believe that we are into mid March and time is flying. I haven't been doing much apart from work around the house, spending time in the Hawkes Bay, a little fishing{not enough}, walking, biking and just living the life. We have had a magic summer since Christmas and today is the first rain for a long time. Di and I have been working on plans for our annual trip and we now have the majority of it planned. We head off to Norway in mid June to spend about 4 weeks with the kids and then we all head down to Spain for another couple of weeks. we leave the kids down there ... read more

We travelled from Rotorua down to Napier, the road took us over the Ahimanawa Mountain Range which was a spectacular drive. A very steep and windy road weaving through the mountains. Beautiful trip. On arrival we were greeted by our host dressed up in her 1940's outfit who invited us to a party that night which they were hosting in the complex. We had come to Napier for the Art Deco weekend which is an extravaganza that happens every year and has been for the last twenty seven years. Napier is a coastal town and has a very seaside feel about it, it was devastated by an earthquake in 1931 and nearly 300 people lost their lives. When rebuilding was started the Art Deco period was in and basically most of the buildings are built in ... read more
