Woke to a glorious morning on Fraser Island. Sun was shining and the hangover was mild. We packed up camp and headed to a campsite to clean all the dishes and for Tommy to have a shower!!!! shock horror!!! we took a light stroll to a large Sandblow...like a mini desert. Attempts at boardless sandboarding were made but it would have been much easier with something resembling a tea tray but as it was we just kind of jumped and hoped for the best. We headed then to Eli creek, which is a beautiful fresh water creek...cold and clear(drinkable by all accounts). Having splashed around there for a while we continued our jorney and made a stop for lunch. The road to Lake Garawongera was fun...the lake itself was a nice place for a dip...not as ... read more

Well, I finally crossed a state border... crossing the ACT/NSW one doesnt count when u LIVE on the border. And going to Victoria just doesnt count... well, I dont think so anyway! lol! So anyway, after sleeping in and having my brother in law drive back to his place to call me so that i'd wake up and get ready, we finally hit the canberra airport and i still had plenty of time. I managed to get myself towards the back of the plane... but as close to the front i could get (i love being near the front of the plane!) I went with Qantas on the really early morning fligth and it was great.. i watched a small documentaries on penguins and then a weird show on how this kid loved aussie rules (wat ... read more

Queued for an hour and a half to see a French movement / drama group with Jenny called The Seven Fingers Of The Hand which had got really good reviews. Finally got to the front of the queue to be told they were full, although luckily, after seeing our heart-broken faces the lovely lady squashed us in. It took us about 10mins to realise that the hip-hop, singalongs with badly synchronised dancing and screaming teenage audience wasn't quite what we'd expected and we'd blatently come to the wrong gig. If I was ever to have a musical nightmare, it would be kids wearing bandannas, acting hard and rapping about world peace to hip hop beats, and this was it, my worst nightmare. At the next blackout, we ran for the exit and the safety of the ... read more

The blue mountains are just out of Sydney and we went for a day trip there. Sorry the pictures aren't that great because it was a little cloudy. The reason they are called the Blue Mountains are because the blue eucalyptus trees tint the mist blue, its far prettier in person. We went hiking and saw a bunch of beautiful waterfalls and cliffs. The main attraction in the blue mountains is the Three Sisters. The Aboriginal story behind them is that there were tribes, one of which had three beautiful sisters, and the other with three brothers who had their eye on them. A war broke out and the shaman of the sister's tribe turned them into stone to protect them, but died in battle, so they remained that way forever. ... read more

Day 125 Checked out of our hostel and caught a ferry over to Magnetic Island. Once there we caught a bus to our hostel in Picnic Bay. It was a really gorgeous day - the sun was out and Magnetic Island was beautiful. Really green, totally uncommerical and relaxing. We had some lunch and then sat on the beach for a couple of hours. Went back to the hostel to escape the midgies and had a swim in the pool. In the evening we went to get some food at 8 pm - baring in mind it is a Saturday night and every restaurant was closing, apart from one - and they were taking last orders!! How ridiculous is that! Anyway, we had a really nice meal and wished we could have stayed at Maggie Island ... read more

Sit aateltiin käydä vähän maisteleen kiinalaista ruokaakin, kun kerta oltiin käyty kiinalaisessa puutarhassa... read more

"Im sooo embarassed about last night" said Nicole, who had shown us all how well she could pole dance after a few beers the night before. Her and Danielle only just made it in time for the lift to the coach, and the following transfer in their hungover state. Today was mainly spent travelling, but that gave me some time to note a few observations. * Australians are generally speaking far more racist than you expect. Bell - you did warn me and it is soooo true. *Everything can kill you. Sharks, Spiders, Snakes, Jellyfish and perhaps most comically the Southern Casowary - a huge turkey which can disembowel you easily. Nice. *Every Aboriginee that you see seems to have a can of special brew in his or her hand. So the bus pulls into Ayr. ... read more

It takes 1,439 stairs to reach the top of the Sydney Harbour Bridge. The recommended Bridge Climb Tour gets you there and it provides for an ultimate view of Sydney along with informative and interesting facts as you chill at the top. For example, one of the workers had fallen off during construction, he landed in the water, pin drop position but the impact was so intense that it embedded the soles of his work boots into his feet. Fascinating. Anyhow, seeing the city from that view enabled me to get a full city tour at a glance...the Opera House, Lunar Park, even Russell Crowe's 14 million dollar condo, not that he lives here, but so the Gladiator has a comfy place to stay when he visits his home country. Sydney has been an absolute pleasure ... read more
