So again it has been ages since the last blog but OZ was very busy. Have spent the past 2 months travelling from Melbourne to Sydney and then up the east coast to Cairns, rubbish not to be with Maxers but Jayne Juls and I had the most amazing time. Australia is incredible we have loved it so much, considering moving to Melbourne in fact! but since we have all being doing same stuff the three of us just wrote the blog together so if you are friends with all of us and have read all this before sorry but have added more pictures and a few more insulting jokes directed at JHB! Juls: Since our last entry we have been pretty much drinking our way up the East Coast, another town, another hangover is our ... read more

Well what to say….We are certified divers now. I splurged and bought a super sweet mask and snorkel which will for sure come in handy in ASIA. I cannot wait to get out and do some dives in Thailand. Horray! So where to start, where to start…Our last 2 dives were awesome with the last one being absolutely amazing. On the boat ride to Julian Rock we saw our first giant Sea Turtle surfacing for air. People told us how big they were, but until I actually saw one, I had no idea…wait for it….HOW BIG THEY ARE. The size of its head alone was ohhhhhh about the size of a fax machine. It was MASSIVE. Neatest thing ever. So on to the dive…we swam a little deeper on our last dive. We were probably ... read more

More markets this sunday, time's running out to get souveniers! The main was is Queen Victoria market, absolutely huge and full a tacky stuff, great! Outside our hostel was St Kilda market, a bit more up class! It was right next to Luna Park, a small theme park, so we had to go in! Didn't go on any of the rides but I had to get candy floss... they call it fairly floss. Kinda regreted it :oP We found out a bit too late that site seeing around St Kilda was pointless as there are no sites to see. Anyway in the afternoon me and Vanessa walked along the beach, saw the shipwreck there and the pier, bit of tourist photography! Tonight was to be my last night out in Australia! On the way out with ... read more

After my body recovered from the Milford Track, I made my way through Dunedin and on to Christchurch. Dunedin was definetly memorable because I met up with three friends from Chicago; Emily Fitzmaurice, Katie Pascente and Nora Houlihan. It was a lot of fun because I got to see the contrast between our two travel experiences. Whereas Rachel and I blitzkreiged our way throughout the whole country in two months, these girls settled in Dunedin for three months. They had their own room in a hostel, had a group of stable friends and had jobs. I had a great time hanging out with them. We went to the beach, talked about pastimes, got sick from eating too much chocolate on a Cadbury's chocolate tour and had a Mexican Fiesta Bon Voyage night. At this point ... read more

Me naurettiin ihan vääränä niille ihmisille... Sieltä löyty myös Suomenlippuja 2kappaletta. Toinen oli lehmien näyttelyringissä ja toinen oli k... read more

Hello everyone, Has been a while since we last wrote, but we have been so busy, and finding an internet cafe that will let us plug in our camera and share our lovely photographic talent with you all has been suprisingly difficult! We travelled down from Port Douglas to Mission Beach, which was right where Cyclone Larry hit last month, and was in a pretty bad state. Most things were still standing, but there was a lot of damage, debris and the once lush rainforest which surrounds that area was devastated. It looked like a load of sticks and trunks and nothing else. All the leaves had been blown halfway across the continent and there was not a lot left! It was also right in the middle of a monsoon so it rained non stop the ... read more

I am currently sitting at the computer in my partner's flat, frantically creating my travelblog in anticipation of next week's solo trip to South America. Having lived for many years in the UK and travelled frequently to Europe, America, Asia and (6 times) to my beloved Africa, I suppose it was only a matter of time before I took the plunge and spent some time in South America. In actual fact, the inspiration behind my trip is somewhat more left of centre. Several years ago, I purchased a potted plant - "powderpuff bush". Having gotten said plant home, I decided to look it up on the net to find it came from Paraguay, Brazil and Argentina. This forced me to admit that I knew very little about the 3 countries aforementioned, or indeed about South America ... read more

Another retrospective blog, these things really are a labour of love. Hope your all doing well xxxxx There is an advert running in Australia at the moment that urges people to visit 'real Australia', in Western Australia. Indeed it is a shame that the majority of backpackers miss out this wonderful part of the country, focussing on the east coast, WA is a bit more untouched but maybe thats part of its charm and appeal.... Perth (population 1.3 million) I flew into Perth and with hindsight now I wished that I had stayed there much longer, I really did like the city. However as a backpacker on a budget I could not turn down a free ride to a place just short of Darwin, my ultimate destination. When I first arrived in Perth I obviously didn't ... read more
