This is a beautiful place particularly in the Ningaloo Nat Park. We had to line up at the gate early to get in, but ended up at Ned's Camp. Everyone is really friendly and out for fun. We snorkled at Turquoise and Oyster Stacks. These were awesome. The fish were so colorful and so close. One lady saw a shark which I am glad I missed. We did a trip up the Yardie Creek gorge and checked out all the beaches. Have left and heading towards Coral Bay.... read more

Sleeping next to ocean was awesome. The sunrise this morning was stunning. It is actually now 8:20am and we are sitting around relaxing and watching the tide return. Yesterday when we got here we were treated to a show with huge whales breaching on the horizon. Then 10 pelicans drifted past looking for a feed of fish. Today is a little overcast at the moment but often warms up as the day goes on. It has been great to read all the comments, so keep them coming. Am guessing we will have more phone coverage now so might be a bit more regular with our entries. Happy birthday brother Pete. Have a great day.... read more

G'day mateys! Australia - what a hilarious place, the land of roos, bathers, white pointers, dunnies, robbies, kockys, perenties, thongs, creeks, crocs, sheilas, joeys, humpies and bevvies... After a great few days in Nelspruit, SA with another visit to the Kruger as well as my first micro light flight at sunset which was fantastic - I got myself to Johannesburg and caught my flight to Perth. Pretty surprised at the lack of ones own entertainment system..was really looking forward to watching movies! Haven't been on a plane in 9,5 months - thats the longest I haven't been on a plane for the last 10 years! Anyhow I managed to get by as it was a night flight and it was only 8 hrs compared to the 24 from Europe.. I arrived in Perth and was not ... read more

We have now spent a week in Exmouth and understand a lot more about its appeal to Western Australians . It is about two long days travel north from Perth and it is a popular destination for the school holidays currently happening in WA. The holidays are over next weekend so we will have less competition for caravan park spaces as we move on up the coast. We still have the “Grey Nomads” to compete with though and there are plenty of them ! Ningaloo Reef extends to Exmouth from Coral Bay. It attracts people to the area as snorkeling can be done from the beach and the coral is only a few meters from the shore. The reef meets the ocean some way out and the huge wave breaks are entertaining to watch. The currents ... read more

Well, we are now moving north far enough to say that the weather is more reliable. Most days are reaching 25 deg with an overnight low in the mid teens. It is amazing that every place we visit offers something new and interesting. We are keeping very busy touring around and doing the things we can in each area. It is so far away that you don’t get to come over here very often. So we are trying to ‘do it all’ and having fun doing so. The car has been excellent even though we accidently put 2 litres of unleaded petrol in with the diesel back in Ceduna! As we had hoped, it was obviously adequately diluted. The van has given a few minor things to deal with but, apart from that, has been exceptional. ... read more

Saturday 15th May 2010 - Cape Range NP (1864km) We sort of had a lie in this morning to get over from the last few days but we wanted to get some snorkelling in while the tides were high and before the winds picked up too much, so didn't hang around too much. Not that it made much difference, the wind has been strong here for a few days, cancelling whale shark trips and generally annoying everyone. On the other side of the hills down the centre of the peninsular (and including most of the hills) is the Cape Range NP. Off the coast is the Ningaloo Marine Park. We drove through one and swam in the other. Most of what we saw of Cape Range NP was scrub and desert, though the scrub was pretty ... read more

After two nights in Perth (time to try and wash out all the red dirt from our clothes) our next adventure was up the West Coast to a place called Exmouth. Didn't start too well with us waiting to be picked up outside the hostel. After 20 minutes we were thinking the tour had been cancelled. However, just whilst we running through our options to get up the coast the bus pulled round the corner. We were pleasantly surprised with this off-roading Isuzu 4wd bus that had pulled up, it looked much better than the bus we'd had in the red centre. Shouldn't really have gotten too comfy as that was actually only the shuttle bus to the depot and ten minutes later we were boarding a bus just the same as the red centre one. ... read more
