Trying not to think about the fact that we should already be in Melbourne we went through airport screening AGAIN and boarded the Singapore Airlines flight to Adelaide. It was an uneventful flight that had us in Adelaide on time just after 9.00am this morning. We had to clear immigration and customs in Adelaide before checking in for our domestic leg to Melbourne. In our sleep deprived state (about six/seven hours sleep in the last 36 hours!) we totally didn't register that our bags had SIN - ADL - MEL tags and all we needed to do was put them in the bag drop. We did self check-in at one of the terminals which made the system think we had four bags not two so when we went to the baggage drop, the system said we ... read more

Marion and I stayed at Brian and Mary's overnight together with Katy. A not too early rise and a cup of tea looking at the teriffic view down the River Derwent from Brian and Mary's dining room table. Finalised our packing and sorted out paper work and then we to Gilbeys cafe on East Derwent Highway for brunch. A very pleasant time together - Brian, Mary, Ryan, Peter, Marion and Katy. It was a delicious breakfast and everyone had extra mushrooms! We said our farewells and wished Brian and Mary the best for their trip in seven weeks (but who is counting!?) Katy took us to Hobart airport and we said farewell - see you in three months or so. The flight to Melbourne was uneventful and we both dozed. Now sitting in Melbourne airport awaiting ... read more

The big day has arrived... I'm about to end the first leg of my journey from Melbourne to Auckland, and it definitely hasn't set in yet that I won't see anyone for a very, VERY long time! I have five hours wait before the flight to Los Angeles. Lots of time to exchange some aussie money to American dollars and Pesos, and have some tucker! Hopefully I will be able to sleep on the hellish 12 hour flight, so that I am slightly energised when I finally make the trip down to Mexico tomorrow. No news yet as to whether or not my host mum will be collecting me from the airport... haven't heard great things about Mexican taxi drivers! Fingers crossed I make it alive =). I found an awesome quote in a magazine just ... read more

Bangkok bound......well not yet Jetstar says no!!! Well after a pretty relaxed night and chowing down on McDonald's for dinner with Cheryl (Mat's Mum) we finished our packing and got to bed just after midnight, Then the next thing I know I was wide awake at 5am from the loudest thunder roar and it pouring down rain outside. We got up and woke both the boys that for the first time jumped out of bed pretty quickly compared to what they normally do, had our cuppa's and finished up the rest of the packing. Before we new it my brother Jerry was there to pick us up to take us to the airport. After a very wet trip in through peak hour traffic we arrived at the airport to find out our flight had been delayed ... read more

Finally at the airport with Deano, checked bags and heading to Qantas Club for brekky. The realisation of finally heading off on a trip of a lifetime has hit whilst chewing on a piece of fruit toast and sipping on my first latte for the day. Boarded 45 minutes late but who cares as long as the thing takes off and lands where we are suppose to. The A380's in flight entertainment system is fantastic. Deano and I are watching the plane take off from the tail camera. All I can think is Fraser would be freaking out watching this. Did go through my mind though that if something went wrong did I really want to see it on a screen in front of me, then a second later I was back thinking 'no this is ... read more

After months of planning, preparation and packing, all of a sudden and seemingly in a rush, the time has come for us to fly out of the safety of our Cocky's Cage and off into our grand European adventure. Our 'last day' at home passed quickly in a frenzy of last minute packing and chores to make our home ready for our housesitting friends. In Goanna's case, the preparations included frantic last-minute sewing to finish off a quilted liner for Possy's travel bassinet and a play quilt. There was to be a matching stroller liner for her as well, but time ran out to get it finished. Almost too soon, it was 4:30pm, and our friend Heather had arrived to take us to the airport. Cocky did a great job stuffing all of us, our three ... read more
