One Night in Bangkok Monday Morning was a slow start to the day as we had a much wanted sleep in and took our time to wonder down to breakfast, the boys were up early and had already had breaky and where on the move to go back to MBK for some last minute shopping. We had planned to meet up at 1pm to go Cabbages & Condoms which is a restaurant about 30 minutes away by train and foot and had the most awesome Thai food and is quite reasonably priced and both boys wanted to go so they could get their stash of free condoms ;) After lunch we made our way back to the hotel to have our last night in the Exec Lounge and did the boys make the most of it, ... read more

Wanna get high? After our day of shopping and some rest before heading for happy hour in the lounge we decided that we were going to have dinner on the roof which would be a very special treat for the boys, the views spectacular and the food wonderful I think that they felt on top of the world. After some fresh hot bread and a few cocktails our first course came out french onion soup followed by Garlic King Prawns for Matt, Wagyu steak for Tim and a fondue for us with sides of chips and roasted vegies....Yum we were all in heaven or dam close. We all sat back and enjoyed the fantastic views and all had a laugh and desided that Dessert was not an option as we were all full as a goog. ... read more

First Day of Relaxation We awoke at 8:30am to our first day in Bangkok still pretty tired from our late arrival in the early hours of the morning due to our very late check departure from Melbourne yesterday, We finally got our boarding call at 5:30 and took off at 6:06pm and arrived in Bangkok at 12midnight Bangkok time which was 3:00 am back in Oz. We met the boys down stairs for breakfast as they were up and ready to go before us, running on adrenaline as I am sure Tim had no sleep on board the plane and Mat got a couple of hours only. We had a lovely relaxed breakfast........ great spread as usual and then wandered up to the Executive floor to have a decent cup of coffee and hot chocolate and ... read more

Bangkok bound......well not yet Jetstar says no!!! Well after a pretty relaxed night and chowing down on McDonald's for dinner with Cheryl (Mat's Mum) we finished our packing and got to bed just after midnight, Then the next thing I know I was wide awake at 5am from the loudest thunder roar and it pouring down rain outside. We got up and woke both the boys that for the first time jumped out of bed pretty quickly compared to what they normally do, had our cuppa's and finished up the rest of the packing. Before we new it my brother Jerry was there to pick us up to take us to the airport. After a very wet trip in through peak hour traffic we arrived at the airport to find out our flight had been delayed ... read more

Dumb and Dumber Well it is that time again and we are off to the land of smiles. This year we have our eldest son Tim and his best mate Matt in tow, A graduation present to themselves. It will be very interesting to say the least as Matt has never been any further than the Gold Coast Qld let alone overseas and away from home for more than a week by himself. Tim on the other hand is well travelled and this will be his 3rd time in Thailand but his 1st experience being legal and will see it in a very different light. This will be a nice change for us this time around as we have planned a two day dive trip to the Phi Phi Islands and Paul to get his deep ... read more

Bond, James Bond Shitty sea conditions had lead to our PhiPhi island trip being cancelled but James Bond Island is in Phang Nga bay so is much less exposed to the elements and would be going ahead as planned unless something major happens. Friday morning arrived and we were up early again for our scheduled pick up to take us to the Royal Phuket Marina and yes it was just as flash as it sounds. On arrival we were greeted by Jenny who owns Simba Sea Trips with her husband, Jenny would also be joining us as our gracious host for the day as we tour the bays' Islands and visit the sea gypsy village for lunch. We were introduced to the crew and then we were ushered onto the boat, which were told by ... read more

That burning feeling Wednesday morning came and after getting some sleep I was feeling better and starving after not having had anything to eat since 6am the day before. We headed off to breakfast where after trying to stomach some coffee and water melon I discovered that unfortunately all the vomiting from the night before had led to me burning my digestive tract so anything even slightly acidic caused a great deal of pain. Luckily we had nothing planned for today before lunch so we watched a few movies and caught up on some sleep. We were meeting our lovely friend Wannee for lunch at 1pm today. Wannee worked at the hotel when we first came to Thailand in 2007 and has been our companion at breakfast every year since and became a good friend. We ... read more

Phuket Scuba Club Monday morning and we are up ridiculously early so we have time for breakfast before being picked up at 730 am for transfer to Chalong bay where I will meet my dive instructor Keith from Phuket scuba club and board the boat for today’s trip out to Racha Yai island. Today was due to be a short day with the Island located only 90 mins by slow dive boat which we were on or about 20-30 mins by the usual speed boats in the area and only two dives on the agenda. On the journey out while we were still in calm waters I went downstairs with Keith and started setting up the gear. Thankfully with all the dreaming and studying I had undertaken in preparation for what I had thought was ... read more

Just the way it was when we left? We went for breakfast early on our first morning as we are off on our Thai Cooking course with the crew from Phuket Thai Cookery School. Just a light breakfast as we are assured that we will be eating lots throughout the day, on the menu we have Tom Yam Goong, Phad Thai, Khao Niew Mamuang, Kaeng Kiew Wan Gai, Kai Pad Med Ma Muang and Poa Pea Tod or in other words hot and spicy prawn soup, stir fried noodles with prawns, sticky rice and mango, green curry chicken and spring rolls. After being picked we were taken to the biggest fresh food market in Phuket where we were shown how to choose the freshest ingredients and also picked up some of the ones we would require ... read more

Final Days After a hectic few days we woke at a more relaxed time on wednesday and headed for breakfast in the exec lounge again. Today being our last full day we really just wanted to chill so we spent a large portion of the morning in the lounge catching up on emails and blogs. While we are on the subject of the blog's I apologise for putting up so many in such a short time but the internet at the hotel was both crappy and limited to being used in the exec lounge without paying and I wasn't prepared to pay to have crappy internet in the room, I scored 2 30 minute free passwords and it was worse than the free connection in the lounge so it was a good idea not to pay ... read more
