Hola from Melbourne! I have made it to my final destination of Melbourne and am safe and sound in a real house! Actually quite a nice 2 story flat with wood floors, and a great outdoor deck, and my very own private room with queen sized bed!! There was no bugs biting me at night, no one coming in late or early and I slept so much in my stay it felt like. But I’m refreshed and awaiting my flight to Sydney for the dreaded 14 hour flight ugggg! Over the last 7 days we did some cool things 2 concerts, road trip to Bells Beach, went for 3 jogs, hosted an outdoor cinema night (Point Break), ate about 20 pounds of home-made pizza followed by the fart Olympics! Caught up with my friend Ebaney at ... read more

Returning back to Melbourne in the new year- I had a house share lined up in Fitzroy- north east of Melbourne centre. It was a lovely big town house- sharing with a lovely german- Stef, a young Ozzy- Rachael, and a very small argentinean- Joaquin! :) Fitzroy is such a great area- 2 minute walk to Brunswick street, which is lined packed with bars, cafes, funky clothes shops and random book and novelty stores. I loved living there!! I spent quite a few days just chilling- loving the novelty of my own room, internet access and lovely huge kitchen! Had many visits down to St Kilda to see Ruth who was in a house share there- nights out there. Visited my craaaazy Irish mates whom id met in the hostel, they had a huge house share ... read more

Hellllllllllllllllllllllllllooooooooooo all! Well well well well well.. here I am in my mom and Dale's hotel room.. *snazzzy!* Things are going very very well, having a blast with my momma here, and very much enjoying showing her and Dale around. IN the last few days I've been extremely busy with the Sustainable Living Festival which was a smashing success! I worked long hours, but really I couldn't complain when it comes to hanging out backstage, and having a grand time with talented musicians and friends. The festival took over Federation Square which is literally in the center of Melbourne along the Yarra river. We had record numbers, plenty of laughs and not much sleep. My great cousin Zack (Dale's Nephew) flew down from Brisbane and spent Saturday night with us. We had a riot, although all ... read more

Hello Hello! Alright so once again it's been awhile since the last blog. Bad on me I suppose, but honestly not much has changed in the way of life... So since the last blog what has happened... Kevin arrived... did I talk about that last blog?! can't remember... anyways he is now here, still jobless unfortuantly, but that is ok. When it's plus 30 you can't complain to much about not working. :) It's great having him here, and we've toured Melbourne a ton... (including many many bars...) we've enjoyed the sites of St. Kilda which is the beach here in Melbourne, we've ventured to the Victorian Market, which is a HUGE farmers market of sorts... not only do they sell fresh food (veg, fruit, meat, seafood etc) They have an arrangment of cheap clothes, shoes ... read more

Well well well.. I'm a slacker for not writing a blog in so long! Sorry all! Lets see... what is going on so far?? Well I'm 7 hours away from picking up my wonderful fiance from the airport, and couldn't be more excited. I'm looking forward to seeing him again, as the 10 weeks apart proved to be quite difficult at times. However good for us for getting through it, and once again our powers will unite to tear this town apart! ;-) In the past few weeks I've kept myself busy. I went up to the mountains... ( errr... well Australia's version of the mountains.. which were cute) with Libby and some of her Uni friends. It was a great time, and it was a wonderful girls only weekend which included lots of wine, chocolate, ... read more

HELLLLLOOOO!!!! Well well well! It's been about a week since the last entry! I've made it safe to Australia, and am thus far loving it! My surprise to Libby (which for those of you who don't know, was an early arrival) went smashingly! She looked shocked beyond belief when I stepped out of the big doors at International arrivals. She was under the impression that her and her mother were picking up a family friend, and instead it was me! The tears were flowing for a while, and it was great to see her so shocked! After we collected ourselves we made our way to her mothers house, for some tea, and laughter. After lunch we went to our new house which is GREAT! I met Tom, my other roommate from London, and found my room ... read more

The first thing to say is, my mother didn't disappoint. Well, she never does, does she? The pressure was on for Mags Meade to pull out all the stops in a foreign country and with alien kitchen utensils and produce a feast of a dinner on Christmas Day. And a feast it was! The celebrations started about 24 hours earlier when Sabrina's boyfriend Paul arrived (no flight delays thank lord) on Christmas Eve morning. Ahhhhhhhhhhhh, the happy couple reunited at last; sure twas lovely altogether. That night we all went to PJ O'Brien's in Southbank to toast the festive season. Now, I do not believe in the tradition of Irish people spending all their time watching GAA matches in GAA jerseys in Irish pubs for 12 months while supposedly spending a year away (honestly people save ... read more

Jaysus lads, it's been a while hasn't it?? Apologies, apologies, BUT, in my defence, this is a TRAVEL blog, and we haven't actually been travelling at all for the last two months..... An alibi of sorts surely?? Anyway, I'm back, and a lot has happened since my last entry. Mainly, we've been living the the (second) best city in the world.....Melbourne baby! And I LOVE IT. We all do, and it has been treating us very very well, thank you very much. We arrived here back in September, with a rough plan to find a place to live and a job of some kind. For the first two weeks or so we were living in a hostel in Richmond, Bob's Hostel, and it really was a home from home. Bob is an impossibly tall and thin ... read more

Hello World Here I am checking back in after a prolonged and event-filled absence! I have been blissfully disconnected from the computer for awhile, experiencing life and its general busy-ness! Of course this includes kisses on the toes from kangaroos and jetting off to Sydney to ring-in the birthday. Where should I start? Perhaps at a point when I still lived in hostel-land and this graceful ballerina went a-tumblin down the stairs. Do not fret! My water did not spill! As my bum met the hard stairs I couldn’t help but laugh and laugh, knowing the riot mum & sis would have had seeing - no, hearing me go. Sometime after that, a few of us Canadians took in some fireworks Aussie-style during a festival downtown. The festival was celebrating… wait for it… Water. Don’t ask, ... read more
