So i haven't written in a while, i must try and do it a bit more. I have been down to Brisbane for a week to see a few friends and went down to the Gold Coast an byron bay which was awesome. I also climbed Mount warning and will write up another blog post on my trip there as this place is actually spiritual its so beautiful. However i wanted to write a short note that i enjoyed the Whitsundays so much i decided to fly back up and spend a bit more time there. To be honest im thinking about moving there its just that lovely. I have booked myself on Whitsunday Adventurer which is a 2 day 2 nights on board a catamaran that travels around all the islands of the coral sea ... read more

So i had the privilege of being taken out fishing on my friends boat here in the whitsundays- What a day :) We left from Port of Airlie marina where they have their 36ft Mustang moored at 5:30 am. The day was perfect all be it a little cloudy. The seas where calm and not too choppy, just what i like even though i rarely get sea sick out on the water. Thanks to going out on the Atlantic ocean a lot as a child in Ireland. The mustang is awesome. Has really nice lines a beautiful cabin with air conditioning- needed here in the whitsundays as its quite hot and humid. 32 degrees and 85 % humidity. After hosing down the boat and loading up with our days provisions we were off. The skipper a ... read more

A perfect Daydream Island Wedding doesn't plan itself over night. My sister, Jessica, the bride to be, planned relentlessly for almost 2 years for her big day. Luckily, most was put together for her in a wedding package by a personal wedding coordinator which they have on the island for you. Rachel, the wedding coordinator was amazing an undoubtedly the most important aspect of the wedding planning. The package can be basic, extravagant or anything in between with options to upgrade this and extend that. I feel Jessica's was somewhere in the middle. The 50-something guest, including myself, arrive into Hamilton Island airport the day before the wedding. It is a blissful, sunny, hot November day and the sky is perfectly clear. Our fingers are crossed for similar weather the next day. Half the group had ... read more

Sadly today I left Daydream Island for my return to Brisbane. The boat ride to Hamilton was a bit choppy because of the strong winds and blustery showers. Finally arrived back in Forestdale at 5pm so not much to write about today.... read more

The weather was very hot and sunny today and I went to the south end of the Island where I played crazy golf and outdoor chess. After my long game of chess I went onto a banana ride. Because one of the passengers fell off our ride was shortened so I went back on again with Harry and this time I dragged my Uncle Tony and Grandad on. Harry and I had a plan to throw Tony off the ride. I then went back to the north end of the Island for yet more swimming in the pools and jacussis.... read more

Despite the fact that it rained all day today I still managed to do some snorkelling and this time I took along some fish food to make my fish hunt more interesting. I then went swimming in the pools, went into the jacussi to chilax and played some water polo.... read more

Harry and I watched the various types of fish, rays and sharks being fed in the living reef lagoon that runs within the resort. I then went to Lovers Cove for snorkelling. I had to wear a stinger suit because it was jellyfish season and they give you a nasty sting. I saw a fish called dory (sturgeon fish). parrot fish and clown fish. When I had finished snorkelling I went on a sting ray splash where I got to go in the sting ray living reef and fed the rays and fish and I got to hold a star fish, sea cucumber and touch some coral such as anenome, ghost coral, mushroom coral and brain coral.... read more

MASSIVE APOLOGIES TO ALL WHO ACTUALLY EXPECTED ME TO KEEP UP WITH THIS BLOG. I hope some of you made a bet against me, and have since cleaned up. You're welcome. To those of you who are disappointed in me, technically it's not really my fault. It's due to the lack of free wi-fi, which is extremely frustrating in a supposedly forward and western country like Australia! Average costs are around $6 for 15 minutes, and my love of food trumps this blog every time. On the bright side, I have fortunately been strong willed enough to write down my activities and thoughts in a diary, so at some point I can go back and write them up :D In the mean time I figure it's a bit confusing if I am still blogging about Vietnam, ... read more

The best way to experience the Whitsunday's is by sailing; not only did we pick a sailboat but we picked a 1946 tall ship as our sailboat! The 'Derwent Hunter' has an incredible history in Australia and we had a fantastic day aboard. We helped the crew with the sails and driving the boat. The day trip included two snorkelling sessions and we finally got the chance to swim with turtles. They were most likely hawksbill and while some were fairly small we saw a huge one too. The turtles were on Langford Reef which also has a beautiful beach just popping out of the water amid the other islands. The Whitsunday's are beautiful, the sea is warm and a perfect Turquoise colour... book your flights now! Bailey's bit: An amazing day sailing the high seas, ... read more

After we left Rainbow Beach a few of us headed up the coast to Airlie Beach. Airlie Beach is lovely. It's one road full of everything you could possibly want from a little town, it has a huge harbour, beach and a gorgeous lagoon that everyone swims in and sunbathes round in the day. It also has a fun nightlife. We headed down to Phoenix Bar in the evening, most of the boats do their after party there. You get half a dominoes pizza for free once you've spent $5 at the bar which we thought was a great deal! The following day we sailed off on our boat 'The Clipper' which is the renowned party boat! And it certainly lived up to it's reputation, we had such a blast on that boat, aided more by ... read more
