Its been all go since my last blog! And im trying to be more organised and write it now, as it will take me hours if i leave it any longer! I decided at about half 12 at night before my last day in Brisbane that i was going to go to Australia zoo. I saw somebodies pictures and though WHY NOT! And im sooo glad i did.It was a brilliant day out. There are loads of demos and shows on all day, i saw a wombat going for a walk on a lead. Fed Elephants! It was jus brill, the keepers r so passionate about their jobs and continual research, conservation and educating others. O it was jus FAB! :-) Then it was back on the big yellow bus and off to Rainbow Beach, the ... read more

Following on from Cairns, we caught our bus from the town centre and headed towards Mission Beach with our driver guide Squirtle. First stop was a nice stroll through the rainforest where Amy pointed out spiders and I ducked around the spiders. Fun times! It was very humid in the rainforest but very pretty and after our brisk walk we had breakfast in a small town which looked like it was stuck in the 1950s. We then, accidentally, ended up at a Crocodile Farm where the keepers informed us that it was a commerical farm, meaning all the crocodiles in the end, end up as a handbag. Lovely. By the time we found this out, we'd already paid so we made our way around the farm and stood amazed at the crocodiles. They were huge and ... read more

Morning Campers! Greeting from a very wet and windy Rainbow Beach where we have been stuck FOR NEARLY A WEEK due to the stupid weather we are having right now!! OK, so we left Airlie Beach and the Whitsunday's behind last Wednesday, and off we went on a 11 hour bus ride to a COMPULSORY cattle station overnight stop called, "Kroombit". We were a little annoyed we HAD to stop there, but when we got there we realised we were in for a good night. We were greeted firstly with 'bar snacks' which was basically a huge pot of meat; of which you had to guess which animal it came from. It was so yummy! same texture as lamb, but a little bit of a milder flavour, Han and I guessed Goat and we got it ... read more

11th to 16th feb Weather hasn't been amazing this week (I know, not as bad as yours... stop moaning u lot!!I love snow!!). It means we're actually restricted on what to do. Had a mooch around Brisbane thursday and went to the museum, acting like kids and touching all the buttons!! Headed to Australia Zoo, where Steve Irwin used to work on Friday. It rained the whole time but it was still fun. Saw a Croc show and all the Oz animals. Steve has had a massive impact in Australia, saving lots of animals and doing great conservation work and is highly regarded since his death at the zoo. Caught the 6.30am bus to Noosa, raining again. Our bus driver, who liked to be called forest Gump, was hilarious and had a great journey. We stopped ... read more

21st January 2009 - ARRIVAL IN RAINBOW AND FREE BBQ We were up early again. I got out of bed at about 7am absolutely starving as I had not had any tea the night before. The bloody fridge didn't open until 7.30am though and so I had to sit around watching the American news what with Obama being sworn in. It was pretty cool though and quite a few people had gathered to see it. 7.30 came though and I no longer cared about anything but museli!!! It tasted good!!! Once eaten, packed up and sorted we caught the 9am shuttle into town before catching the 9.30am Greyhound bus to Rainbow Beach!! The Greyhound journey was ok. It lasted for around 3 hours including a services break where I bought a brew. I spent the rest ... read more

21/1/09 = Arriving at Rainbow Woke up at the usual 6am...is just not normal for a person in their 20s! Rolled around in bed for as while, but then gave in at 6:45 and went to get showered and have breakfast. The usual museli, but didn't taste that good because milk suspiciously watery...and was already skimmed to start with. Finished getting ready then and headed out to catch greyhound bus at 9. Real shame to be leaving Noosa because it looks like a lovely place and only really had a day here; wish could stay a bit longer. Got shuttle bus into town and greyhound bus came for us at 9:20. I sat by myself so Hat didn't have to, but bus got really full, so ended up sitting next to a Geordie guy called Andy. ... read more

No internet access and no time have meant that we have been unable to post for some time, and still we cannot post photos as this stupid computer won't let you put a USB into it, so I will briefly write what we have been doing, and we will then try and find somewhere we can plug in the camera and show you all the amazing sights we have seen. After Sydney we made a quick stop in surfer's paradise where not a lot was going on apart from a very long and attractive beach with waves so high you weren't advised to go in the ocean. We then headed stright up to Noosa where we were booked in to do a 3 day 2 night camping trip. In Noosa we saw our first kangaroos, which ... read more

After going to Fraser Island we had a dolphin kayaking but we only had one day left to stay and rainbow beach is a really really tiny place and we really didn't care for staying there anylonger than we had to! So instead of going kayaking they took us for a surf in the mad weather but it was wicked fun and we ended up landing a job for the surf shop/school for maybe a few weeks. First week was quite boring since we're both city girls and I don't know I guess you just have to get into it. There is no stress, just chilling. We ended up spending our days like this: wake up with the sun and go for a really early surf since that's 9 out of 10 times the best time ... read more
