Hey guys! So its been a couple of days since my last blog, and i would like to apologise for the lack of photos. It seems that a lot of the hostel computers wont allow you to add the necessary component to upload pictures to the blog which is annoying, but will work on it!Anyway, since my last blog, I have travelled to and arrived at Magnetic Island. Had slight issues as my bed had not been booked, same for girls, so we had to spend the night on the main land before catching up with the boys the next day. We had a nice chilled out evening, where we went for a stroll around townsville, went to the ice cream parlour, and then just chatted and watched some top gear. The lads in my room ... read more

Tonight we found ourselves on the beautiful Magnetic Island staying at the YHA Bungalow Bay which has won several awards. It had great facilities, our favourite was the pool with the numerous and extremely comfortable hammocks. After a quick ferry ride over and a stint on the bus we were settled into our private bungalow and sucking back on a cold beer. We went for a small hike over to the next beach and were greeted by an old man and his free willie. Yep, I guess I missed the sign saying NUDE. Mick saw it but decided not to prepare me for what was in stall, thanks Mick! Upon our return we just missed out on seeing the sun set, but made a plan for the next night, which involved crackers and cheese and a ... read more

Well hello everyone, i'm so sorry its taken me so so long to add another blog! Since I left Thailand and got to Australia the prices of everything ZOOOOOOMED up and whenever i've gone onto the internet here its seemed to eat up my dollars like hungry hippos do!! So, I'm gonna update my blog as and when I can and back date! Oz is so so different to Thai as you'd imagine, but i actually do much much prefer Thailand to be honest. I've had a really tough time in Melbourne and ended up in hospital for a few days and out of action for a good week or so, and that was over three weeks ago- I still haven't properly recovered, but will backdate and tell that tale when I've got more time!!! So ... read more

We have now officially started our travels down the east coast! First bus journey out of the way and first stop on the road south - Magnetic Island! We'd heard a few people talking about it being a good place to see koalas in the wild, and also that it was good for walking and lovely beaches, so we decided to give it a go. Turns out our hostel has a wildlife sanctuary in the grounds which is pretty good, lots of random things like crocs, koalas and snakes separated from the main hostel grounds by flimsy looking fences.... We stayed in a small little A-Frame hut that was brilliant, although they're not kidding when they say the place is close to nature, each time i opened the front door a different animal was waiting for ... read more

Just on a side note, before we continue the recap, it is a glorious day here in Brisbane, and I am extremely content. Yay!! Ok here we go into the depths of my blurred memories of the past few weeks on our voyage down the East coast of this massive country... I must say that I never expected the East coast to be so different than our view of Australia thus far...the outback, and staying with purely friends from Melbourne to Adelaide is miles from the tourist and hostel ridden life we have been living since we arrived in Cairns...the East coast seems to be town after town of beaches, bars, and bikinis, and Britney Spears...I swear Australia has the WORST taste in music... We hopped aboard the bus to head down to Townsville with the ... read more

Had our first trip on the Oz bus and it was definitely the right choice of transport down the East Coast - it was great fun and you meet loads of people on it! Our first stop was at a Croc farm and this was so completly different to Malaysia - for a start the crocs were very much alive and only chicken wire was separating you from them ! The guides were like Steve Irwin and were crazy ! One of them came out to the bus as we arrived and as he got on he threw what looked like a toy croc on to Luke's knee so I just laughed - the next thing I knew his eyes opened and I realised he was a really baby croc with his mouth sellotaped !! I ... read more

We arrived at the ferry terminal in Townsville to depart to Magnetic Island at 6 in the morning and had to hang around watching the news until 9!! It had rained since leaving Cairns and all the news was showing was the rain forecast!! So we were contemplating flying to the west coast however we decided to stick it out and went across to the island in the rain!! We arrived at Bungalow Bay in Horseshoe Bay which was described as 'sleeping with nature' and it was!! We stayed in a wooden hut with leaks and lizards and wallabies and possums were showing up everywhere! It was quite funny as we slept with the light on so we knew exactly where the lizards were!! But before bedtime we took part in the quiz with three girls ... read more

Hey everyone so today i'm in magnetic island..its beautiful here...there's cute little magnets running around everywhere living in the trees...lol jk it was named magnetic island in 1770 by captain james cook who thought his compass went funny around this island (but further studies have confirmed there is no magnetic forces around this island which could have caused the compass malfunction)....anyways its absolutely stunning here my hostel is right on the water..mind yoou i have to share quite a small room with my 7 new best friends lol but its not a bad deal thats for sure..i. put up some skydive pics for you all to see ive got 80 pics tho so those are just a few! tomorrow i leave to go up to cairns and i think i'm stopping at some crocodile thingy..not really ... read more
