Even before we left for our holiday to New Zealand we were already thinking about the next trip. It was going to be a longer one, so it was about time to start planning... and about time to book the tickets! We decided to leave it until we came back from New Zealand in the end though – making sure we could actually cope with travelling with a baby... Since our New Zealand trip went better than expected, there were no more excuses! It was just a matter of deciding when we wanted to go and how we were going to break down the trip. It was almost April now, would 2 months be enough to arrange everything? I guess it would have to be as no more postponing... The end of May it was then! ... read more

Geo: -27.4676, 153.028Not too keen to jump out of bed but we did! Had to work the magic to get everything back into the luggage ready for the flight home.Rundle Mall welcomed us at just after 10 am and with luggage safely deposited with the Concierge we did a little stroll around the Mall. It was magnificent even under grey skies threatening rain. Sprawling wide "street", lots of statutes, a quirky combination of old and new, all the sparkling glassy regulars (Pandora, Swarovski, Apple Store), people strolling at a leisurely pace - but none of the shops were open. Apparently we were a little early for a Sunday morning because Adelaide city doesn't open until 11.Adelaide Arcade was calling us anyway. It was beautiful and ornate and there was a steady stream of early birds heading ... read more

Geo: -27.4679, 153.028I don't know whether we are getting older or just easier to please but this trip to Central Australia and the Top End was on of the best holidays we have had. From the red centre to Alice to catch the mighty Ghan then into balmy Darwin more modern than outpost, then onto to the amazing wetlands of Kakadu. Its a journey that will hold many fond memories for years to come. Top 10:1. Tali Wiru2. Ayers Rock and the Olgas3. Field of Light4. The Ghan5. Katherine Gorge6. Jumping Crocodiles7. Air Boat Ride8. Geo: -27.4676, 153.028We sleep in again today as we fly out at 3.30 pm. On checking out at 11.00 am we leave our trusty esky behind and head to the Ducks Nuts Cafe for a Bloody Mary. It is just what the doctor ordered.I have kept the car for an extra day so that we are free to drive around. We head off to the Hanuman Restaurant for lunch and we are the only ones there. We hope this is not a sign of bad food but we are not disappointed as we are served one of the best Indian entrees we have ever had. Our main was just as good and we both comment that we will miss the Darwin food as we haven't had a bad meal yet with perhaps the exception of the ... read more

Geo: -27.4676, 153.028We wake this morning at 4.30 am, it's still dark and a mild 18.5 degrees. We are waiting for our old friend and Uber driver John Hare to catch a lift to the airport. Checking our luggage to Ayers Rock Airport we depart on the first leg of our journey to Sydney on time at 7.00 am. So far a good start to our epic Planes, Trains, Auto-mobiles, and a few Boats adventure through Central Australia and the Northern Territory.... read more

C: Our flight arrived into Brisbane in the evening and after our airbnb host kindly collected us from the airport we headed out to explore what the city had to offer. It was really busy, very different from NZ cities, people everywhere. We found the main shopping street and a nice square dominated by the impressive city hall. After a bit more of a wander we came back to the square for a drink and a plate of an Aussie signature - potato wedges with sour cream and sweet chilli sauce. if you haven't had this, try it, it's great. We only had the one night in Brisbane and our flight away was just after lunch so we got up early to spend the morning in the city. We walked across a quite impressive bridge to ... read more

As we approached the last 60 kilometres into Noosa the scenery became more interesting - with green rolling hills reminiscent of Devon, albeit with different vegetation. When planning our trip, we looked forward to the Greyhound bus ride down the east coast, and looking at the map you would think that you would get to see a lot of the coast. Wrong! for most of our trip from Cairns there were not many towns, it was mainly endless sugar cane plantations followed by miles of savannah, with the odd kangaroo to break the monotony. The Greyhound buses services was great with many bus drivers advising the location of the individual hostels. Noosa is a lovely town and you can tell there is a good standard of living here, some of the waterfront properties go for 4000000 ... read more
