we have been in brissie about a week. we have done a couple of tours including 1 to a rainforest - largest area of subtropical rainforest in world - which was a long walk to a beautiful waterfall. they have been having lots of rain here - its definitely us. as soon as we got to sydney it started raining, for the 1st time in 3 weeks. - as in torrential flooding which caused damage to homes and filled the reservoirs from 40% to 100%. which is good. for them. anyway this rain meant that the waterfall was flowing well - sometimes it had dried up completely. and it didnt rain on us til later. FOOD UPDATE we had jam sandwiches, crisps and an apple for lunch and he provided carrot cake and tea (yes... i ... read more

I think it's even pretty true. I find getting ready for a trip, with all the anticipation and excitement is ALMOST half the fun! I love the researching, to find all the cool things there that I might want to go to and getting a feel for the place. Then you almost can't beat the day at work that you get to tell the boss you are going on a holiday and to please book it in (beaten only by the second after you finish work that last day). I love it when the flight is booked! When some accommodation is booked! And then, still being something of a female, I love getting out and buying and finding all the stuff I need... the replacement locks for all the ones you've lost keys of, replacement carry ... read more

Bless me Reader, it has been many weeks since my last communication. My time in hibernation has not been in vain however, as I did a little work on my website during my spare time. Be sure to go check it out : My Website I'm sure you shall all add my masterpiece straight into your Internet Favourites!! We have been on TV! The 4 of us visited this restaurant: Louvre It was part of a TV programme over here. They had the best steak I have had in Australia so far, but sadly they were beaten by Adelaide in the competition. I arose at 4:30am to watch the Champions League final live here before work. I must admit that I almost went back to bed at half-time, but thought I should see the game through ... read more

Check out CBD Museums & Galleries They are all for free! BrisVegas is cool City with a small town feel I like the river. I had a good start this morning. I had a very nice sleep. I woke up by 8:30 and had breakfast and a shower and a quick check of my email and then it was outta the house by 9:45! Wow! A much better start than yesterday! I even stuck more or less to my intended plans! Ann gave me directions to get to the CBD by bus which would take about 30 minutes. I remember Ann saying something about taking the train from the Toowong Village being only about 10 minutes. So I set out towards the TooWong Village - shopping mall. I actually wasn't sure whether to turn left or ... read more

Real lazy morning Just hanging around the house Got lots of stuff done. I had good intentions of getting an early start. The game plan was to get some laundry washed and then hang it out to dry all the while getting something to eat for breakfast and surf the net as well. It all started out as planned but there was a bit of a kink in the plan since I couldn't figure out the darn washer! I'd hear it start, head upstairs to the computer and then "beep!" Down the stairs to see why the machine was beeping. Some lights flashing. I press some buttons and it sounded like the machine was working again. Back upstairs for me and I swear 30 seconds after sitting down the machine starts beeping again! After a few ... read more

A stop in Nimbin Great place for potheads to stop None for me thank you! Our morning stop was at the small hippie town of Nimbin where an alternative lifestyle is quite noticeable here. Great place to stock up on "special" cookies and muffins ("Do you know the muffin man?" haha) We watched the "Nearly Nimbin" film that talked about the Aquarius Festival of 1973 and how the town turned over to the hippies and with it pot smoking. For such a small place there were quite a few people lurking about the streets and there were a few "offers" asking me if I wanted a smoke. Being a Sunday, most things were either closed or had a later opening time. Since we got into town at almost 9:30 and with most things closed, we did ... read more

well the travels are quickly coming to a close for myself. I arrived to Brisbane, Australia 2 weeks ago, and will already be leaving the country in 2 days! It was a brief introduction to the country. I definitely hope to come back here when I have the time and money for it. Brisbane was a good start, my roommates were 2 Germans, and a Swiss named Fabio...they were quite a deck of cards. I then spent a few days in North Stradbroke Island, "Straddie", a white sand island right off the coast of Brisbane. And my last five days were spent in the relaxed beach town of Byron Bay. I spent the days boogie boarding in the dolphin rich area, frisbeeing on the beach, relaxing in my friendly guesthouse and meeting some of the great ... read more
