Karl-Johan 68 år. O'Reilly's Rainforest Guesthouse, Lamington Nat. ... read more

The trip to Brissie from Rockvegas went fast, and though Jak probably won't admit it, this was mostly due to listening to revolting tacky songs. It was brilliant. My ipod went missing yesterday (like, just disappeared off the face of the planet) and thus have started eight weeks without it. I don't know how that's going to go. Meanwhile, both of us are lugging around giant backpacks that feel like they weigh as much as we do - and we still have to do some last minute shopping. Gah! Mine however, weighs less than 15 kilos as I was seen weighing it by comparison - bag of pool salt in one hand, backpack in the other. We'll be sure to update soon. xLoz Ok, ok I admit that I may have some shockingly embarrassing tunes on ... read more

Dear Diary, Well it's thursday morning and this time tomorrow i will be on the plane to Sydney. Sheeessh, i can't believe its happening. I just said the goodbye to my sister Kelli and 2 year old niece Holli. How tough is the adios?, i really struggle with them, to think i won't see them for 18 months is pretty hard to take. To not hear, " Nick, ick me up, ick me up Nick" kills me. Goodbyes may be sad moments, but they make me appreciate the wonderful people I have in my life. speaking of good people, muchas gracias to everyone who could make it to the farewell brazillian themed BBQ. After starting at 1pm in a beautiful sun filled New Farm park with bongos, bocce and muy beuno brazillian steaks on the barbie. ... read more

So its one week to go to my most excellent adventure and my tummy seems to be throwing butterfly dance parties everytime i think blink SUR AMERICA! . Best feeling yet, was tuesday when i sat down for a solo coffee and cigarette with recently picked up plane tickets and newly purchased ridgi digi camera. It all started to seem like reality instead of just a future dream or life goal. You get tired of regurgitating everytime someone asks " so what are you doing with your life, whats the plan?" After i've told the "plan" soooo many times I get scared it may never actually eventuate. Nice feeling to see it all coming to fruition. The journey begins now. The goodbye's of my last two years in Brisbane have started and new South American ... read more

November 12th - 18th Brisbane My little sis’ birthday today and I make it in time as I committed to myself  Stuff. Big or little? Drama or reality? Getting to know each other and seeing my act rear its ugly head again, and again “I’m not good enough”. I thought I had a handle on that one now, but in reality what I have is the knowledge that it is all in my mind and therefore knowing I can do away with it if I choose. Yet still I find myself trying too hard to not be a certain way, to be liked by all… Stayed with the gorgeous M & friends for a couple nights. Great to be around supportive friends and likeminded folk who are really willing to go the distance, yet still ... read more

After the exersions of Byron Bay are next stop was Brisbane - "The fastest growing Cidy in Australia, Mate". We only had one thing on our minds - Theme Parks, but we had to choose carefully. Do we opt for the roller coaster rides, the movie type one (yeh right!) or wet 'n' wild. Bearing in mind it's getting hot now we opted for Wet n Wild and fortunately for you we didn't take a camera! We spent the next day at Lone Pine Koala Sanctuary. Sara couldn't resist paying to hug a koala whilst I contented myself with hand feeding the Kangeroos and wild Lorikeets. It was great fun. ... read more

Most people want to hit me over the head when I tell them I only allotted 6 days to Australia, but can I just say- I agree! One day when I have more time and money, I will dedicate at least 6 months or a year to this big island, but for this trip it must remain as a stopover to New Zealand. Luckily I managed to cram in a few irreplacable events in my Ozzy days, starting in Brisbane. Some of the travellers that I've met along the way have offered me their couch for my journey, but more often than not, they're not on my route. Lucky for me, I was able to take Deb (from Laos) up on her offer. I met Deb for lunch in downtown Brisbane and having filled my belly, ... read more
