Have been doing some more of the sights so I thought I'd thought I'd offer a few more scraps to my ever hungry and ever expanding global audience. Just a few photos with captions. I think that's enough of the City so the next words and images will be of the Blue Mountains and at least one of Sydney's famous beaches. ... read more

Thanks very much everybody for the messages and comments which enhance an already great travel experience. I've left some replies which I hope reach you. It's Saturday morning in Central Sydney and it's very hot and sunny though I am mindful that it's very different back home and I hope that the severe conditions are not affecting you too badly. I've had some excellent coffee whilst sitting in Railway Square listening to Jason Miles and watching the "beautiful people" passing by. Not so much a matter of seizing (?) the moment as of savouring it. Yesterday I went down to THE harbour and caught my first sights of THE bridge and THE Opera House. Both are undoubtedly fabulous and it sounds churlish, even unkind, to say that, wonderful as they undoubtedly are, they are almost victims ... read more

Well I've finally reached Sydney having got close to then crossed the equator for the first time in my life. Actually I'm really in Doncaster and I made the banner and..... To backtrack slightly - I left my idyllic corner of Kyoto and finally got to Osaka after a one hour wait on the wrong platform at Kyoto station followed by a twelve minute train ride to Osaka on the "Shinkansen". Thereafter I spent a further hour trying to negotiate the local train system before wandering out of JR Namba station to spend three hours wandering around lost until an expat from the Potteries told me how to get to my modest but comfortable hotel. I had enough time to have a good look around Minami which district can only be the true model for "Bladerunner". ... read more

Aww...so this is my last entry from Sydney! Actually I've already left Sydney, in Melbourne now. So I'll start with my trip to the Blue Mountains. Once the holidays were over I thought I should maybe try getting out of the city and seeing some different places for a change, it of culture and all that. So I booked myself a Blue Mountains tour. Caught the coach at 6 yes 6am.....but Zellini's have got me well used to my early mornings so not so bad. From Sydney we made our way inland to....yes you guessed the Blue Mountains. The views were stunning, took some beautiful walks in the national park area. Got on the steepest railway in the world to take us down into the parklands, actually the train was almost vertical going down and then ... read more

Hey you all. I'm well. I'm currently in Sydney doing some hardcore research about Byron Bay, tourism, and how individuals involved in those two things can happily, sustainably coexist. I've been hanging out with Nico, the frenchman we met during the last Sydney visit, Gabe, and girls from my SIT program that are doing their research here. Good fun. Just picked out classes for next semester: Ecology and senior colloquium with Yaffa Health and Human Rights seminar with Marion Nutrition with Roc Ordman Photography with D Roe Jazz band. It's gravy to me. I love you, Dad. I'm sorry for the way things turned out. Use the opportunity to do something amazing. I send you a hug.... read more

I have neglected the journal as of recent for numerous reasons. One: Im a lazy boy and Two: I do not enjoy writing about work and going clubbing. THe past few weeks has consisted of both these things: Uneventful yet I have still enjoyed them thoroughly. Im an idiot and persued things with Chrissy which have been going well. They will continue to go well until I step on the plane to Thailand tomorrow. :o 'Thailand you say?' Plans have changed again (Yes, I know, I feel like Laura). Flights to Bangkok were a mere $50 more than going to darwin so I figured hey, why not? Im leaving on a Thai Jetplane and I will be abck again. Two weeks in Thailand with no plans but loads of ideas on things to do. All that ... read more

I havent had internet for the past week but it has been a really good one. I dont think I spent more than one night at home as I was out and about with different people from work everynight. WED NIGHT: I met up with Connor and Derek Hardy after going out with the work boys to coogie beach. (bout half hour out of the city). Was a good nigth and was rad to see people from back home. Ended up in Kings cross as I ahve everytime I go out almost. Its open all night and it close to home. But it is full of strip joints and hookers so its a little seedy. But all is well. THURS: Worked 12-9, went home, ate, slept. Friday: Worked 9-6, went out with people from work who ... read more

Well Im sure some of you have heard that I may have been coming home early: this is sadly untrue. I did give my two weeks notice at work today to an extremely unhappy manager. I also decided that I'm going to make the most of my australia adventure (however lame that sounds) and head to perth. I want to be in a less busy place and apparantly Perth is beautiful with awesome surf and is also a small city. The plan is to go there and try to get hostel work or something to pay for accomodation and see a bit of western aus. I was thinking about comign home early but its going to cost me close to $300 to change my ticket and I really cant afford that. What else is new? Ive ... read more

Well I have to say that it was a good night (errrr... afternoon) drinking with you all back home. For those of you who dont what im talking about, Mark had people over at his house and we all got drunk together as my head made an appearance on his TV. It was a really weird but wicked experience to sit here at my house and drink my tooheys new while everyone else was getting sloshed in front of me. Thanks for setting it up guys, I had fun even though I needed my sunday to get certain tasks accomplished. Oh well. (THE SMOKING BUBBLE WAS WAY TOO COOL GUYS) This past weekend I only went out on friday night which was enough. Drinking on an empty stomach witht he work crew was fun. But I ... read more

I havent had my laptop runnign in the past week and a bit so I appologize for my absence. Frustration of reformatting my harddrive kicked in and I decided just to bring it in. $20 later I had an up and running laptop good as new. Yee-Haw. Sorry, on to the good stuff. Or... well, whatever you want to call it. Last week I met Poppy for the first time. For those of you who dont know (which is almost all of you), I ahve distant cousins in england. My little family has another branch that I barely know about. One of these family members, Poppy, is now living and working in sydney. This came as a huge surprise and excitement for me as I barely knew this family existed let alone thought of meeting time ... read more
