OK, as many of your nkow I wrote the MCAT exam to get in to medical school in August, but it took a full 60days to mark, which almost killed me. I've been waiting for Oct. 14 for 60 long, long days. To make matters worse, since I'm a day ahead here it's been October 14th for hours and hours. I was thinking I had to wait until tomorrow for it to be Oct. 14th back home, but I just realized it's late enough now, so I went to the website and tried to log on...... But I couldn't! I couldn't remember the correct combination of username and password. However after many tries it finally let me in, and instead of the annoying "no scores yet" message I've been viewing for 60 days, my marks were ... read more

Once again, people are waiting to use the computer and, once again, I'm super tired so this will have to be brief. Today we went to the Taronga Zoo here in Sydney. It was super cool, but Sydney is experiencing a heat wave right now so it was suuuuuuper hot. I don't know how hot it was in actual degrees, but we were drenched in sweat before we even arrived at the gates. We took the train to the Circular Quay, where we bought a "zoo pass" which includes the ferry ride to the zoo, zoo admission, and a ride on the sky safari (a cable car thing that goes above the zoo). The ferry ride to the zoo was really nice and gave us great views of the harbour, while allowing us to snap some ... read more

Wow, it's finally started! We just spent our first glorious day in Sydney, and boy was it jam packed with adventures already. I'll try to touch on a few of them but I'm on a shared computer in high demand and I don't have my contacts in, so I'm not sure how far I'll get. Our ferry/bus/flights here were fairly uneventful. Passing through US customs was TERRIBLE. I felt like I was being processed for a POW camp. You just pass from one huge station to another without really knowing what you're doing at any time, and all the staff look down upon you like you're a second class citizen. Yuck. Derek was given an intense screening, which was pretty funny (for Mark and I, at least). The customs guy pretty much went over every inch ... read more

Hi All, Just a quick update to let you know that me and Caroline have arrived OK at our hostel in Newtown, Sydney. It's a bit more crappy than their website made out so we will only stay here for a week instead of the month as first thought before moving on to somewhere nicer. Football starts tonight so will be meeting up with Ollie and the boys tomorrow night for some sherberts and the first England game. Should be a great laugh and have been looking forward to it for ages. The drive down here was an uneventful 1,100km 3 day drive and fairly unspectacular considering the other 20,000km I have driven around the rest of Australia. Got a couple of sunset photos to upload later on and saw my first wombat in the wild ... read more

Hello all! I am now in Byron Bay, a few adventures down on the East coast! The trip on the reef in Cairns was -well - a bit rocky to say the least! Sea sickness was rife after about 10 minutes the sea was so rough! I can safely say that we didnt pick the best day to go out on the ocean on a very small boat as after about 10 minutes on the sea there were 6 people heaving over the end of the boat , fortunately I managed to hold my stomach by digging my nails into my arm desperately focussing on something else! When we eventually got out to the reef everyone breathed a sigh of relief and couldnt wait to get into the water - anywhere just not on a boat! ... read more

I am currently sitting at the computer in my partner's flat, frantically creating my travelblog in anticipation of next week's solo trip to South America. Having lived for many years in the UK and travelled frequently to Europe, America, Asia and (6 times) to my beloved Africa, I suppose it was only a matter of time before I took the plunge and spent some time in South America. In actual fact, the inspiration behind my trip is somewhat more left of centre. Several years ago, I purchased a potted plant - "powderpuff bush". Having gotten said plant home, I decided to look it up on the net to find it came from Paraguay, Brazil and Argentina. This forced me to admit that I knew very little about the 3 countries aforementioned, or indeed about South America ... read more

So I know I haven't been doing a good job keeping this updated. It is difficult to write a journal here and for myself, too repetitive. Anyways, I finally started school today all you haters. I only have one class Monday, then Tuesday, Wednesday, and a tutorial Thursday that I will be able to skip if I need to travel. I don't remember what I have said since I last posted, but I have been just chilling out here recently getting my shit together and relaxing. I have posted pictures of some of the things I have been upto, but I can't post everything because of this 4.4 cents a MB thing they have going on here kicking my ass. I have been touring around the city for the most part, going to the zoo, aquarium, ... read more

16.01.06 Andy went to work whilst I job hunted a little more. (rung people, asked in shops) At 11am I had an interview at a child care centre to go on their casual list. All went well and I am now on it. One question I struggled on was 'what would you do if 5 babies were crying at once?' my imediate thought was to hide under a table! We had our usual lovely dinner and they said we could stay until February, so no more house hunting!! We played a game of Balderdash, which was fun. When it's your turn to read the question out you are called the 'dasher' so when Andy reads it he's a balddasher. 17.01.06 Andy went to work again whilst I did more of the same and also went into ... read more

Hi All Hmm haven't really got that much to tell you all as the last two weeks have really been all about finding a job, which I now have managed to do! Hurrah! It’s a receptionist job in a real estate place! The only downside is that it’s not in the city but at least I’ll be earning money at long last! The 5th of Jan we spent looking at houses and managed to find two bedrooms in two houses next to each other which was really lucky! We have to share a bedroom between two which isn’t great but I think everywhere here on a short term basis is the same! It’s annoying though as you know they’re making an absolute packet!! The room for me and Hannah wasn’t available until the 10th so we ... read more
