From time to time I type "Francois Beaussier" in google to check what the internet knows about me, that's usually interesting :) Today I realised that this blog does not show up on the first page anymore and that's a shame! So let's revive this blog with an occasional post, shall we? You favourite traveller is now living in Coogee, by the beach (this is a suburb of Sydney). I started working again and no, it was not that hard to get back to it. I do think about travelling again, maybe next year? I bought a motorbike and I enjoy learning my way around. It's one think to use public transport for a few years but driving gives you a different perspective on the city and its surroundings. Don't worry, I drive safely, well... at ... read more

Not really done much this week to be honest... the weather was much hotter, it's been hitting 40 degrees so lots of suncream and sunbathing for me :) The meal up the tower was alright... tried kangaroo which was pretty nice but i wouldn't have paid 70 dollars for it... which is what they usually charge! Went on a 2 hour coastal walk to Bondi with couple of friends the other day, had some creepy sculpture fest on the way which made it worth the walk! Bondi beach was gorgeous but there wasn't much to do and we ended up getting bored, eating lots of chicken and setting off back again. My friend got stung by a bottle jellyfish all over his back, there's photos of us drowning him in vinegar on Facebook :) he's alright ... read more

I don't really know where to start - I've been having problems with this all week and haven't been able to update it so I'll try and wrap it up now. Day 2 - We all went surfing on a private beach in Bondi and the weather was 40 degrees. Couldn't have had a better day to be honest, even though I was rubbish at it :) The water was just pure clear and the coach men were all mint, we all finished off with a walk along the beach! The group got invited to a free meal and night out at a bar called the Gaff that night and I can't remember much more... Day 3 - The weather had dropped about 20 degrees today and we basically just got our essential stuff done like ... read more

Finally arrived after 2 effort flights After finding out there was about ten people on my flight the whole time that were in my Ozintro group and making friends with them, we met the man at the airport and some others and went to the hostel... The weather wasn't that sunny so wasn't really freaking out about being away from home because didn't really feel like Australia. But then couldn't get to a payphone and simcard wouldn't work and just wanted to ring mum and dad which was rubbish! So morning sucked. Then Mark (team leader man) took us all around the botanic gardens in Sydney central and i got wild cockatoos or whatever the white ones are called to come sit on my arm and eat bread :) got some mint pictures but not enough ... read more

Was up at 5.21 every morning since i got here. Iv come to call it stupid o clock, jet lag really takes its toll on you!! On tuesday we all hoped on a bus to go on our first surfing lesson on this really secluded beach about a half hour from sydney. The bus drivers name was Jai and he was what i always expected the typical australian to be like. He seemed to be constantly stoned but he wasnt-he was just your typical surfer dude! First lesson of the day was auzzie lingo so the word awsome mentioned a lot. Awsome means brilliant Brilliant means sick And sick means awsome!!! We were surfing for about 5 hours and my got does it take it out of you. Its 2 days later and im still in ... read more

Travling by plane..........very very tiring!!!! We left portlaoise at 11.30am on friday and arrived in sydney at 7am on sunday australia time ( about 10pm saturday at home ). We flew from dublin to heathrow first, took a while to get through security there, was kinda weird because since we were going from london to singapore we were going through the security for people going to that general area ( hong kong, thailand etc ) Everyone was either asian and wearing turbans- i didnt fit it - haha. Got on the plane a few hours later for singapore, 12 hour flight to there. The flight was ok, on long haul flights you get free beer and your own little tv to watch movies and tv on. Really good at passing the time. Was pretty comfortable except ... read more

There has been some concern, so I thought I'd clear a few things up: Yes, I am still alive and I am feeling much better after my illness. I apologize for not posting the news sooner, but living with free internet comes with the downside that it chooses to not work a lot (thus when I'm at uni I have a downloading/internet using party.) Most of the week since my last entry has consisted of me attempting to get better while sleeping a lot. The only exception was this Saturday when I made a visit to the Casino in Darling Harbour. Some of the games are played differently, however I'm sure you'll be happy to know that I came away from the casino with slightly more money than I started with. Another small thing worth noting ... read more

This week I had 3 out of my 4 classes. Of those that I had, they all seem very interesting, so I'm excited for the rest of the semester. However, I'm not excited about all the reading I have to do already! I think that my Negotiation Course will be the most interesting because it seems to have the most real-world applications. It consists of both learning theory about negotiation as well as practicing negotiating with my fellow classmates. Besides classes I have just been hanging out with my friends here and further exploring the city. Tonight I think I'm having people over to watch a movie I got from the Australian version of Netflix: Quikflix. Then, tomorrow I'm off on a road trip to Australia's capitol in Canberra. I was telling one of my Australian ... read more

Today was a good day. I was in bed for a good portion of it, though, because I stayed up late last night. I woke up feeling sick, so I decided that the best way of getting over my sickness was to stay in bed until I felt better. To my surprise, it actually worked and now I feel better. I did take medicine as well, however, just in case. :-) Some people had texted me around 11am to invite me to take the beach walk from Coogee to Bondi again, but as I mentioned I was still asleep. Instead, I invited them to come over to my house for dinner. They accepted and we met at the grocery store at 7:30 once they returned from Bondi. I had decided that we were going to make ... read more

If you haven't heard yet, Fiona and I welcomed Patrick James Anderson into the world at 0723 on 30 June 09, yes, he's a End of the Financial Year Baby. He's just a little fella, weighing in at 2.9kg, but we are blessed as he's healthy, strong and a beautiful little guy. We'd also like to thank you all for your overwhelming generosity. From the baby shower gifts, to flowers and thoughtful messages, Fiona and I were really touched by all your kindness and generosity - Thank you. If we haven't been in touch yet, we will be doing so shortly - we are still trying to get ourselves organised and familiar with all the new aspects of life with a sprog. We thought this would be a great way to get photos out to you ... read more
