Hey all... Like usual, things in paradise have been very awesome... We have had three really packed weeks in a row. Three weekends ago we went to our first rugby game here in Sydney, it was really fun. We went with a bunch of our connect group guys. Games here are super cheap to go to compared to a hockey game back home. It is 20 bucks for a ticket here, and about 50 bucks for the best seats availiable. The game itself was really good, people later said it was one of the best games all year that we could have gone to. It was against a new zealand team that had a lot of the all blacks players on it. New Zealand was supposed to blow out Sydney, but it was a one ... read more

After a long bus journey we made our way to bondi beach where Jade lives, i was expecting this place to be amazing after all the hype i heard but was a bit dissapointed as it didnt seem that great and the heavens had opened! We had a look around, attempted to do the bondi to coogee cliff top walk but went the wrong way ending up in the rain in the suburbs! Not a great day! Cheered ourselves up by meeting up with the Irish gang we'd met in Peru for some drinks, this is how we ended up moving to Coogee. We instanly felt happier in Coogee, there is a lot more charactor in my opinion with a friendlier buz about the place so we moved over in a few days. Surfside hostel ... read more

I have been lazier than ever this week, reading, bumming around on the beach, eating, and attending crab racing. Glebe does that to you. After a few days of fairly stormy wet weather the sun returned in force today and I hit Coogee Beach with Casey, my American friend from the hostel, and two mates. Last night was valentines and the only way to take shelter from the deluge of love letters was of course to go crab racing at the Friend In Hand pub with Casey, Breeana, Mark and Ben. I bet $3 on a crab which I named Ludovich (a nod to Ludo in Labyrinth) but I didn't get to watch him in action becuse the bar staff took to spraying the crowd with soda water and I had to run for cover in ... read more

hello again... It has been a while since i have last posted. The main reason for that is because at our place, we are completely out of internet service. When we signed up for internet we signed up for a 200 mb per month plan, the guy at the store said that this would be plenty for us...however when we found out that our account was 4 times the limit in about 2 weeks, we had to cut it out for the rest of this month. Were not looking forward to the massive bill that we will be getting for this. So i am writing from the internet cafe down the street. We can change our internet plan for next month, so things will be better. 2 weekends ago was the weekend retreat with the church, ... read more

Day 2 of my adventure Down Under started off with me sleeping in (heavenly). Dave has taken the day off from work so we'll see what mischief we can get into... After I finally dragged my ass out of bed, we went down to Coogee Beach for breakfast. Breakfast by the beach is a big thing here and I must say that I could get used to the lifestyle. What better way to start your day than by having a coffee on a patio overlooking the ocean? We ran into some of Dave's friends (firefighters of course - lucky ole me!) at the café. Tim, Dave's old roommate, was in the bunch and invited us down for a barbie on Friday night(complete with shrimps I hope). Score! Tim lives about an hour south of Sydney, along ... read more

Greetings again from the great down under. The last week and a bit has been interesting. Getting jobs has been our main focus. After turning down that soliciting job, we were all back at the beginning. We were spending a lot of time and money at the internet cafe down the road so we decided to get our own internet (thanks to neils dad for the laptop). Getting the internet set up was a little expensive, but we crunched the numbers and figured out that if we were to stay with the cafe, altogether we would have been spending 200 a month there, which is more than having internet at our place. I came across a recruitment company named Hays. I met with one of the Hays representatives (he actually came over) he was a really ... read more

... read more

This morning we were up very early for a round of golf! Dan, Paul, Steve and Paul's friend John were all playing 9 holes at the local course, while Gloria and I went along for an early morning stroll and to keep score. Unfortunately Dan was playing with standard length clubs which are too short for him. After topping quite a few frustrated shots and not performing as he might well have done- but also realising that everyone was of a similar standard, it wasn't a serious game and we all had a great laugh. The rest of the day was spent chilling out at Paul & Gloria's having lunch together, swimming in the pool, playing with their dogs Doogie and Millie. The evening was spent watching the international game Australia v England in the Twenty ... read more
