So we have been in Coogee for just over nearly 3 weeks now, so we have been chilling out for the best part and exploring Sydney on the other days. There is lots to see and do here and we are having a great time. The beach is lovely and the weather is pretty hot most days. We took a ferry trip around the Sydney harbour, it was only an hour in total, but we had to get off early because poor Bella so so sick again. Bless her she was really brave, but I have to agree with her - no more boat rides! The thing is where we got off the boat, we were miles away from where we wanted to be and the only way back was, boat, taxi or a very long ... read more

So we have arrived in Sydney, and the apartment is fantastic. I have gone from living in a shoebox to a 2 bed, 2 bathroom trendy place overlooking the sea! The town, Coogee is also great, loads of little shops, restaurants and foody places. The beach is at the end of the road and we are only 20 minutes on the bus to the city. Strangely there are loads of brits. I am also happy because I have managed to buy marmite and the latest copy of Heat magazine - who says I'm hard to please!? So we spent the first few days just finding our feet, finding a park and cooking, yes it is great to have an oven again. First thing on order....some roast potatoes, and then some baking with the kids and jacket ... read more

1st September 2008 I had an excellent day today celebrating actually having to use sun tan lotion!!! It was one of those days when you are just happy to be alive! I believe it was the first official day of spring today and it didn't dissapoint - it was so lovely and I spent all day outside with a big smile on my face. Met Craig for coffee first off then I went and told my alcoholic boss at the Darling Harbour Bar that I quit and celebrated with oysters and prawns at the fish markets soaking up the sun. I then did a bit of shopping for Jessica's 3rd birthday present in China town and walked all the way to Glebe round Jubilee park and Victoria park for those who know Sydney at all and ... read more

Arriving in Sydney I was still feeling pretty down about having left my life in Perth when my plane landed in Sydney and it was time for my next adventure. I collected my bag quickly and walked around the domestic arrivals area for several minutes looking for the OzIntro person collecting me. After my disaster in Perth with Travellers forgetting to collect me, I was not too optimistic. And sure enough there was no one there. So I sat down with my backpack and waited but luckily not for two long as a guy soon walked in and flashed me his OzIntro card. His name was Michael, who I was soon to find out was the owner of OzIntro. We jumped into the OzIntro-mobile and headed off towards my future home: Coogee. We soon arrived at ... read more

Yeah ! Today was our last day in Sydney, we went to the blue mountains and spent the last few hours packing our bags. We're trying to travel very light but it's a bit hard to know what's we'll actually need on the road. In case you're wondering, we'll be carrying about 16kg around the world We subscribed to the frequent flyer's program and hopefully will earn a lot of points with all our flights... We had a barbecue on Sunday and drinks on Monday evening. It was nice to say goodbye to everyone, thanks to anyone that could make it. First destinations: New York, London and Paris ! ... read more

Arrived in sydney thursday night Everything was fine. Weather is quite cold but still nicer than endland! Got up dead early friday morning to go and see sydeny. Had breakfast on the beach. Got the bus into the town and got off at the wrong stop so ended up walking for miles till we found the harbour and the opera house. Then we realised we were in the wrong place again and walked to darling harbour. Went to the China Gardens of Friendship and Paddys market. Went to China town and had a look round the shops in sydney. Went out for tea at night, was only $5 for a meal which is 2.50! its cheaper to eat out than in. most places are really expensive but theres a cheap place we found. All of the ... read more

Hi ho everyone! Come Saturday, we will be air bourne (for quite a while . . .) So, the plan is . . . we fly out of Sydney on Saturday morning, and then (many hours later) have a long stop over in Santiago (we may or may not get out of the airport . . . tax issues . . .) then onward to Lima (Peru). Keep updated to see how it all goes. We'll send regular blogs, and you can check in. Depending on how skilful we become, you may even get photos! We will miss you, and wish us a comfy (!) flight xo Kath and Amy... read more

hey, im sitting upstairs in the hostel ready to go to the blue mountains, its about 6 in the morning. so far I have been Jet boating around sydney harbour which was great fun aswel as walking around the botanical gardens which are amazing, loads of bats and huge spiders! On tuesday we went surfing on a nioce beach i got the hang of it and stood up loads. Sorted out medicare, bank, the important stuff really so it makes stuff easier. Been to 2 skateparks so far, Maroubra and Bondi, which are both amazing concrete and smooth, although the heat (although it is meant to be winter) makes it hard to go for more then an hour. The board you got me is amazing so fast, but ive got used to it now. Il put ... read more
