Hey guys, It has been many months since I have wrote here but I thought I would add a quick one following an indulgent 2 weeks in the lovely Sydney. Our good friend Conor put us up in his new pad close to Coogee Beach. Thanks mate. We arrived to beautiful blue skies the Thursday before Christmas, immediately hooked up with Ger and hit the beach to try and banish our Irish pastiness as fast as possible. The beach was beautiful, but the sea was freezing. Next stop: Schooners (thats little pints to the rest of you). The schooner stop became a daily event for the remainder of the holiday in fact. Ger of course arrive in perfect Ger style, having skipped a weeping family in the queue to grab the last seat on the plane. ... read more

G'Day Everyone! Like last time it's been a delayed process in writing to you all. Apologies, but the weather here is improving rapidly... 1 - I can't bring myself to miss the sun until I found a job, 2 - I can't see the screen of my laptop if I take it outside (!!). Soooo, I left you when I was about to embark on the Tolkein-like task of finding a job in a city of 4.5 million people. I'd like to say it took me ages because I had grossly underestimated the competition. This is not the case, read on, but after taking what was 5 weeks NOT working (or doing much at all!), believe me it is very hard to stand up in the morning and say... right, let's go start working again! But ... read more

Well - we're not exactly travelling again, but this has proven the easiest way for us to get photos and videos out, so we thought we'd put a few of the little bloke up. Time has flown by, and he's now only a few days shy of 3 months old. It's amazing how quickly he's changing - it seems like every day he's doing something new so its a pretty amazing experience. Anyway, here's a few photos to check out! Thankfully he looks like Fi!!... read more

Today I get to move into the house that I’ll be living in for the next 4.5 months. I’m up currently at 7:30 waiting to head out to the university to sign my lease and get my keys. I was told last night that the internet companies pretty much only have contracts for 2 years. Sean said that usually the landlord contracts with the internet company, then the tenant pays the cost of the service during their stay. However, the Uni has already told me that Internet is not included…I hope that doesn’t meant I’ll need to buy a antenna from the phone company that will let me get internet through the Cell Phone towers… … I’ve moved into my house to find that the internet service of the previous occupants has not yet been canceled. ... read more

After Cairns The flight back to Sydney was a strange event being alone but I soon arrived back to my beloved Coogee and met up with Lizz, who had kindly offered her room for me to stay in. Straight away we got dressed and headed out for our Tuesday night at the Gaff!! It felt even stranger when we saw all the OzIntro staff out but we had a good night with our dancing and drinking lots of jagerbombs! Over the next few days, Lizz and I just chilled out and I got to meet her new housemates: Sian, Lindsay, Niki, Justin, Mark, Carly and Steve. A new housemate was welcomed whilst I was there also, an Aussie girl called Gen. Come that Friday however, the parentals arrived in Sydney and it was time for me ... read more

G'day all - this is just a really quick post to put up some photos of where we are living at the moment. We have found a fantastic place in the eastern suburbs of Sydney at Coogee Beach. For those who don't know Sydney it's about 10 mins drive to the city and about 5 mins in the car to the famous Bondi Beach. Coogee itself is a pretty sheltered beach so there's no big waves, but another five minutes south is Maroubra Beach which gets some great surf. There's quite a few cafes and restaurants around and we have a couple of other 'cafe streets' within five minutes walk (Clovelly and Randwick), so all up, it's a pretty great place. The house itself is a three bedroom townhouse with lounge and kitchen downstairs and 3 ... read more

Hi everyone Its about 9.10 in the evening here at the moment. Sorry for the delay in updates but its been pretty hectic since we arrived here! For startes the flight was delayed coming into Bangkok beacuse of the snow in the UK( lucky buggars, the one time we leave the country you get the best snow for years, typical). Once we finally we borded the plane, we had to wait around again as a child and their family where removed because they had a fever! so in total I think we where around 2 n half hours delayed. Craig (my cousin) picked us up from the airport and we went back to his house about 40 minutes from sydney in Baulkham hills. We spent the rest of the day catching up and finally getting round ... read more

Christmas in Sydney; we’ve made it to the “Land Down Under”! 25th December 2008 Christmas Day! And we’re not having Vegemite sandwiches! We’re off to Coogee Beach for a Christmas picnic lunch with Sue and Eric (my cousin). Arrived here on Tuesday evening 23rd December and guess what? It was RAINING, and only about 22 degrees. Maybe the unseasonable weather has followed us from New Zealand? Whatever, it was nice because we thought that it would be uncomfortably hot and humid, as indeed it was here earlier in the month, and it would have been like walking into an oven on landing. We now have time to acclimatise. We got to our hotel fairly rapidly from the airport (transport links are excellent in Sydney) to find that we are in a great buzzing location. We are ... read more

Good day mates, Hope you're all well. We are missing all our friends and family really bad already. Well we arrived in Sydney at 7am this morning. The initial plane journey to Seoul, South Korea was about 9 hrs and 45 mins and was great. We had free peanuts/drinks and even the alcohol was free. Had loads of free movies on the touch-screen TV's we had in front of our seats. Seoul airport was spectacular...it was bloody enormous and so clean you could eat your grub off the floor (so I did). We didn't have to collect our luggage either it was transferred onto the next plane for us. The plane ride from Seoul to Sydney was HELL though, it was bout 11 hrs and the new plane we were on didn't have TV's in the ... read more
