good evening coogee
sun doesnt set over the water here. Greetings again from the great down under.
The last week and a bit has been interesting. Getting jobs has been our main focus. After turning down that soliciting job, we were all back at the beginning. We were spending a lot of time and money at the internet cafe down the road so we decided to get our own internet (thanks to neils dad for the laptop). Getting the internet set up was a little expensive, but we crunched the numbers and figured out that if we were to stay with the cafe, altogether we would have been spending 200 a month there, which is more than having internet at our place.
I came across a recruitment company named Hays. I met with one of the Hays representatives (he actually came over) he was a really nice young guy named Aaron. He gave me a one week temporary job at a government building. I was to fill in for somebody taking a week off. The extent of my job was to sit in an office in the underground parking lot and press a red button and a green button whenever a visitor wanted to come in. This happened to
be about 5 times in a 12 hour day. I also sometimes had to move peoples cars so they were able to get out of the parking lot. All in all this was a pretty easy and very boring job, and they were paying my $23 an hour. I had no complaints. The office i was in was pretty good too, i had internet and a tv with a few channels on it. My regular day was arriving at 6:30 am and then napping for an hour to to hours. Then i would play computer cames for a few hours. In the afternoon i would watch operah, days of our lives, and judge judy. With all these luxuries it still was boring!
That job was only a week long and Aaron didn't have any more opportunities for me this week so agian we were all back to square one. We have a favorite cafe which is rite across the street from us, we go their fairly often, and just the other day they gave us a weekend job washing dishes there. Its pretty cool cause any one of us can go in on a saturday or sunday and work
Cooking crew
A freindly reminder from the topless cooking crew...thaw chicken before you have to cut it up. for a few hours for cash. However we do need more than that. Sometimes it does get a little discouraging, finding a job is a lot harder than we thought it was going to be. One day Dan called 25 people without one being interested. I am sure we will find something eventually. I droped my resume off today at a small cafe rite near our apartment. They seemed interested and she said she would call me sometime this week. Hopefully something works out there. Dan and Tom just left to go around handing out resumes, they noticed that the local mcdonalds was looking, it would be kind of funny if they ended up there because we have all said before that we would never work at a Mcdonalds.
Life around the apartment has been pretty good. We have all noticed one thing...we are all hungry men. Were thinking of making one of those 'hungry man' commercials. Our regular once per week grocery bill is $400. However we are eating really good. The guys are all pretty happy with my cooking. The other day we had a really good stir-fry and tonite were having chicken breasts. We have also
hot cars
Called a 'yute' these are the cars to have around here been perfecting our hot wings. Every weekend we make hot wings and fries. Its a messy meal! The other day we also had kangaroo steaks. In the last week and a half we have all gotten this crazy sickness (not from my cooking!). We all got it once and its really bad, it lasts 12 hours and you cant eat or drink anything without pukeing it back up again. Dan had it the worst, he puked every half hour and he had it at night, so we were all up. But nobody has gotten it again...and hopefully we dont. At the apartment we are definitally missing a dishwasher, we are constantly doing dishes. And once we all have jobs we are thinking about getting a barbeque. Most of our chill time around the apartment is spent with just boxers on or less. We will only sped the pictures that have us wearing adaquate clothing
The last few days here have been the hottest yet, it was 41 degrees a few days ago. Life at the beach is pretty good too. Were at the beach almost every day playing football or just suntanning. We also go at night for runs on the beach.
The youth retreat is comming up this weekend and we are all pretty excited. The youth retreats here are different. You have to find your own way up and also book your own hotel. Everybody says its an awesome time, so were excited. We went to youth nights the last couple weeks and its pretty cool, 2 weeks ago we all went to the beach and they had a live band and dj. there is about 300 people that go to the youth, last week we went and met this guy named glen. He turned out to be a real cool guy he called us on suday and offered us a ride to and from church. He is also driving us up to the reatreat (central coast...an hour and half north of sydney). He also booked us into his hotel room. We were looking to meet a cool guy like this, he is going to set us up with everything.
Life here has been awesome...thanks for your prayrs and thats it for now...i am going to the beach!
keep passing this link on to people who ask for it. c ya for now
