After the long day yesterday, this morning was a relief. It was a laid-back morning with nothing to do. Dave had to do some work, so Jo and I sat with our laptops catching up on sorely neglected daily life tasks. Sipping coffee, listening to the birds out on the patio, I was able to do what so many do as their vacation- nothing. I messed around on Facebook, checked my bank statements (giant lottery winnings still haven’t been deposited so I guess I will have to return to work), catch up on TravelBlogs and such. It was a most welcome morning of leisure before another afternoon full of the go go go that makes up most of my vacation. Denise set out platters of cheese, vine ripened tomatoes, basil, roasted peppers alongside toasted artisan bread. ... read more

Day 29! Another lazy day to be had! Hubster didn't wake up until gone 9 - which never happens at home unless he's poorly!! Was quite heavy rain this morning so we didn't do anything until lunch time when we went out to grab some lunch! On the way back we went to a Baha'i temple! Which apparently like a church that doesn't have a specific religion, they recognise that they all have their ways etc, so there is not pulpit or alter just a mic as nobody is any better than anyone else (so the sweet little old volunteer man told us!) who emigrated here in 1959 from Suffolk! The temple has 9 sides, each with a door, this is supposed to symbolise the diversity of the 'religion' and silence must be observed in there ... read more

Day 28 We had a lazy morning watching tv and reading and finally moved about 11! We went to Westfields near Sydney to do some shopping, as it was really grey and overcast! We had lunch in their food hall - similar to the covered market then went shopping (of course only I bought anything) but in fairness the huge Lego Simpsons set that the hubster wanted was a bit heavy to drag back to England! After moochin about the shops and stopping for a drink and ice cream we headed back to the apartment! By this time the sun had come out. So we sat out on the deck by the pool and caught a few rays whilst reading etc! Dinner time came so we fired up the BBQ and had a feast! Enjoying the ... read more

Christmas Day I woke up at 8:25 probably the latest I've ever slept on Christmas morning, the hubby was awake at 5:30 but wouldn't wake me! We got up for dressed - ish and opened our cards and pressies! We headed out to the beach - there was some great surf but a little bit cloudy! That soon vanished and left a lovely sunny day! Andy got hungry and as there's no bbq here we trundled down the road and came across a pizza shop that was open so in we went and had a take away pizza! He didn't want to get it sandy so we ate in the car! It was at this point we discovers the car park was actually pay and display - oppps fortunately we'd not been got! We decided we'd ... read more

Boxing Day Boxing Day has been very quiet, we got up and made our way to the beach with our picnic! The surf was really rough and windy and no surfers were out! We had our picnic on the beach then went and found some shade as it was rather warm! After reading for a while we decided to go for a drive to see what we could do! Turns out not a lot! We went back to the apartment and watched some to then went for a curry! Not very Boxing Day ish but there we are! After our curry we went and bought ice creams that we ate in the car so they didn't melt So all in all a very quiet one! Sorry it's boring!! ... read more

Christmas Eve We packed up our stuff and left the surfers paradise hotel for Brisbane airport! We arrived at the airport and said goodbye to Gerty! 2539km we did together! We boarded the plane and left early, we flew over 'summer bay' the bridge and opera house! After clearing through the airport we went to collect our new car I can't decided on its name :( anyway we then made our way out of Sydney to our apartment at Avalon Beach. Which is just up the coast from 'summer bay'! It's lovely! It's just a little studio, but we have gorgeous views and our very own pool! Not shared, our own! Jack the owner showed us around and wished us a merry Christmas and said we'd need to get to the supermarket as it'd be manic! ... read more

Hello everybody, The previous weeks were very busy, a lot of deadlines and work, so a good relaxing trip to the beach had to be arranged! Saturday early in the morning a friend and I took the bus to Palm Beach, it was a 1 hour long drive early in the morning but we where up for a nice day at the beach. With the swimming short on Luckily the beach was not crowded at all, so we had a nice relaxing day, beautiful pictures where taken and bay-watch ones as well ! :) A lot of television viewers will know Palm beach is known from the Home and away series on television for being videotaped over there. Home and Away’s mythical village of Summer Bay couldn’t have chosen a more idyllic location.. When the night ... read more
