Geo: -34.1806, 142.227What a relaxing day, breakfast at 0930 and then visited the Tourist centre were we found out the whole area is quarinteened and no fruit or vegies can leave with us unless we are going back to Victoria. A Houseboat had bought in fruit fly to the area, which was a bugger because the Market we went to later had a heap of fresh produce to sell and all we could buy was what we could eat today, 1 peach and one nectarine. The Market was huge taking up both sides of Langtree Avenue and had a really good mix of things, at reasonable prices. The best buy was a stunning vase which was $20 reduced by half, he blew the glass and his wife invented the design's, they had hand bags made out of ... read more

Geo: -34.1806, 142.227 We had a pretty uninteresting trip, long straight roads and huge fields of dirt and stubble, talk about the sunburnt country. It bought back our first years of marriage in Nandaly, miles from anywhere and hot and dusty. Passed through towns we used to play tennis and golf in, it looks like most small towns like Nandaly have died with residents selling out and moving on.We had breakfast in Donald which was nice, filled up in Ouyen and we were both surprised at how much it had grown. When we reached Red Cliffs it was beautiful to see some green grass and trees, travelled through Mildura to Gol Gol and set up in a beautiful park right on the river. This afternoon we have sat by the river and watched speed boats, skiers and ... read more

Our day started with a MacGuiver episode. Not the real MacGuiver (aka Frank), but the one on TV. If there is a TV in front of him, it seems Frank must have it turned on. We all have our obsessions. Currently mine seems to be watching the temperature of the fridge going up and down on the remote receiver for the digital thermometer I bought for the fridge. I can sit and watch it for ten minutes. Tragic really. At least it is working at present. Today being Fathers Day, we had a lovely restful day. A visit to The Sunday County Market at Redcliffs was successful with the purchase of freshly picked asparagus and some locally produced chilli Mettwurst. BBQ lunch with a glass of wine at Trentham Winery on the banks of the Murray ... read more

That first step is a doosy. At our lovely camp site at Gol Gol, just over the Murray River from Mildura, the van is parked on a bit of a hill. The van itself is beautifully level, as it should be, but there is quite a large first step down to the steps at the door due to the incline of the land. As a result, I take that first step very tentatively. The first step, I think, is a good analogy for our trip. As you are probably aware, this is our first trip out in our lovely home built van. Although very excited about it, we are still quite tentative about how everything will work, and whether it will fail us as we progress on our journey. The ongoing issues with the fridge add ... read more

As we sat on the banks of the Murray River this evening, watching the world take on a beautiful warm pink glow, courtesy of the setting sun, I was put in mind of a John Denver song –‘Some days are diamonds, some days are stones’. At that point in time, I would have said that our day was somewhere in between. More a semi-precious gemstone. One thing we know for certain, is that if you are going to have equipment failures, a capital city or large regional city is the place to be. Fortunately we are still in the Mildura area. We decided today would be the day to do some final purchases and make some alterations to the van, etc. (Frank is the etc. Had his first hair cut in about twelve months. Much better.) ... read more
