Geo: -36.4227, 150.064We relaxed in the Caravan Park for the morning and I took a picture from the Park of the Bermagui Beach, beautiful area.A Aleppo Tree was planted over the road over looking the Beach and the Park, the tree is from the original Lone Pine on Gallipoli, grown in the Jubilee year 1968. Planted in memory of departed comrades. Lest We Forget. We have booked the courtesy bus for 2pm, for the Bermagui Country Club for the raffles and entertainment. Should be good fun and the weather this afternoon is supposed to become wet, so it will not be a problem for us.Went for lunch to the Saltwater Cafe, situated on the Wharf at Bermagui, very nice prawns, and flathead tails. Thought the prawns and flathead tails would be a nice change from oysters. Pretty ... read more

Geo: -36.4227, 150.064Left Pambula Beach at 9.40am, the morning temperature was 14c, not sure we're will stop the night yet. Way to go!! First stop Tathra, small coastal town with some stunning parks, and beaches. The drive was slow going with hair pin after hair pin, glad Mick was driving, he does not intend to do it again.Stopped at the information centre, who told us to stay at Bermagui Zane Grey Tourist Park. 180o view of the bay and ocean. Magnificent. The Humpback Whales use the Bay for birthing their calves, one spotted yesterday.Have set up at the park, three nights, in town, with a view to die for. Managed a 10 per cent discount if we stayed for three nights. Mick still has not used his Seniors card. The amenities are being renovated, no signs ... read more

We wake up to a clear orange sunrise over the water, broken only by flocks of seagulls. The campground only begins to stir, and we have a leisurely and pleasant breakfast by picnic tables near the water. Back on the road, a wrong turn becomes a welcome detour, as we wade in shallow waters at low tide, the first ones to leave footprints in the sand ripples. Up the coast the Princes highway finally meets the coast at Eden, and in our excitement we explore in detail the turnouts up to Haycock Point in Ben Boyd National Park: Pinnacles, Quondolo, North Long Beach, and Haycock Point. Pinnacles is a white and orange sandstone cliff face, which would be at home in Death Valley. Enroute a couple are staring into the brush, and point to an echidna, ... read more

Hello and welcome to my first blog of our 2012 holiday. If you followed our travels around the west of Australia last year and found it entertaining enough to return, welcome back. If you are a new follower, I hope you enjoy reading about our trials, tribulations and adventures. This year we are staying in the east, but are still heading north, going as far as Hervey Bay most likely. There are a few differences this year. Last year was our inaugural trip in the fifth wheeler and was an excellent performance test of the van and set-up. As some of you may know, we had weeks of frustration with our fridge last time causing delays in departing and extended stay in Mildura before getting a replacement part in Adelaide. All up, we lost about ten ... read more

That rain is back! With a vengeance! I thought I knew what torrential rain was, but my eyes have now been opened. We stopped for the night at a motorhome park in Tathra and woke up to find a lake outside our van. The lovely and hilarious (30 or so!) German exchange students that were camping next to us had made makeshift rain ponchos out of bin liners. They must have thought this weather was normal for Australia! We were also joined by a further 50 school kids from Canberra whose previous camping site had flooded. The wetness factor aside, it was amazing to watch the wild ocean and appreciate the beauty of the elements. With Tathra being only little, we headed onwards to Bermagui. En route, our road was closed off due to flooding. We gave ... read more

After our trip to Eden, we headed further up North to Bermagui via the tourist route, such a lovely drive! We really didn't intend on going to Bermagui, in fact we actually had no idea where the hell were going lol but we ended up in Bermagui. It looked really nice and we were pretty keen to stay there, but the information office was closed, so we couldn't find out any information :-S. We stumbled upon one caravan park that allowed pets, but they only had the one dingiest little site stuck in a corner between annual vans, so we thought... mmm, no! So intead of staying there the night, I went to the local fishing and tackle shop and bought a pink fishing rod! (I developed a certain urge to take up fishing lol!) Somehow ... read more
