Hello everyone! Well, as Jenica mentioned in her last message, I'm currently camped out in the Yukon, in a town of 100 known as Beaver Creek. This is my second year here and I'm looking forward to having more excellent adventures until I book it down to Mexico in August. Arriving in Whitehorse, the capital of the Yukon Territory, I met up with a few people I knew from two years before, and spent the next day hiking and hanging out with them. I saw my first glimpse of the northern lights, and even though it was somewhat unimpressive in comparison to how amazing they can be, I was still quite excited. Then day two was off on the staff bus headed for beaver creek with other staff members. Unfortunately the bus broke down right ... read more

Forget TLC, we were ready for a bit of CLC after completing the Inca Trail. So that´s what we embarked on: C...usco L...ima C...ancun. CUSCO The day after we completed the Inca Trail I was supposed to go white water rafting at 8:30am. Yeah, like that was ever gonna happen. Instead we slept until late morning and went into the town for lunch. In the afternoon we had a massage with accompanying sound effects straight out of a horror film. Natalie was in the next booth to me and as soon as her masseuse started on her thighs and calves (the leg ones, not the veal-investment she made with a cow herder on the trail) she started to screech in pain. The poor masseuse knew little English but kept telling Natalie "I sorry missus, I ... read more

We arrived at Flaming Gorge on 5-29-07 to fish the Green River. The Green River is known for white water rafting as well as being one of the nation's top places for trout fishing. The first day we fly fished the river where we could walk knee deep. The Little Hole area was recommended by our good friend, John Harcourt. We each caught fish but the water was very swift and challenging. We went home very tired. The second day we went to the bottom of the dam, rented a float Pontoon for two people and down the river we went! We caught quite a few fish, but the ride down the gorge was the most beautiful scenic trip. It was a 7-1/2 mile, 5 1/2 hour trip. Photos are attached. Our guide broke my ... read more

Sunny Sarasota North America » United States » Florida » Sarasota By PamMay 31st 2007Pamela Monroe Wow!!! Where did the last 3 months go?? We have been way too busy for retired people. We returned to Sarasota in mid Feburary and bought a condo in May. We are once again home owners and I'm not sure how both of us feel about that. It was a deal that we just couldn't pass by in a beautiful condo complex on Little Sarasota Bay. This doesn't mean that our traveling has stopped. In fact,we leave for Europe on June 1. We will be traveling through Portugal, Spain, France, an... read more

North America » Mexico » Jalisco » Puerto Vallarta May 31st 2007

This was my second time in Puerto Vallarta, with the first being back in August of 1996. I did enjoy that trip very much and so I was glad to come back. I flew from Indianapolis to Atlanta on a Delta Connection EMB-170 and connected to Puerto Vallarta(PVR) on a Delta 737-800, getting first class on that flight!! I enjoyed a nice little lunch and a few gin and tonics before touching down in Mexico 3 1/2 hours later. I took a taxi to the Hotel Emperador, which is where I stayed last time I was in PVR. I find the hotel very relaxing, with a good beach. I just spent the day lounging at the beach and I also visited the local Hard Rock Cafe. I was going to go and visit family in Las ... read more

Bonjour, cava? We arrived safely in Toronto late last Saturday evening, after a particularly horrible domestic flight from San Francisco (who would have thought USA to Canada was domestic?), and after being collected by our friendly host, settled in for the night in our lovely new hostel, ready for an exploration of Toronto, and then Niagara Falls in a day's time. Canada is our last country before we head home, and although the neighbours next door looked slightly like they were running a drug's den and were nasty bits of work (it turned out they were and they are), we were excited about being here for a fresh adventure. Unfortunately overnight James was struck down with a nasty flu-like virus which manifested itself in aches, pains, a headache and a raging fever, leaving him bed ... read more

There is entirely too much stuff in my pack. I know the rules: Pack and then remove half. But I am gonna be gone for 2.5 months! I need to be prepared for everything, right? This is why you pack early. Get it out of your system then whiddle it down to half of whatever the hell you initially thought was so important. But right now it's hard. I can't let go.
