Yesterday a coworker passed the “Garden State” soundtrack over the cubicle wall to me and I was reminded once again of how awesome Simon & Garfunkel were by the inclusion of the track “The Only Living Boy in New York.” I never got into the whole “Live in Central Park” bit, I mean who really cares about these two guys reuniting to sing the same songs that they had recorded together a decade before. I guess in some ways S&G were the forerunners of the current plague of rock & roll reunion tours, heck I think they’re even on another reunion tour as I write this. We have several bike rides planned as soon as the threat of heavy rain storms diminish. Like you we have been having warmer weather but with lots of clouds and rain. we have been busy exploring Texas. On Saturday, we took off for Austin, hoping to attend a concert in Austin that evening. Austin calls itself "the live music capital of the world", with good reason. We stopped at a flea market only to discover we were the only"gringos" there. Jim found a good Mexican restaurant, "Pappasito's" that he remembered from business trips. It was the best Mexican food I ever tasted and I ate it all! After driving around the capitol complex in Austin, we parked the car, to go on foot. Well what a town, or should we say "Light Show". We arrived in Vegas on the 5th of Feb. After we left San Diego we hit the freeway once again and made our way into Arizona. We stopped in a little town called Parker. There was an influx of people for a Desert Race and there was very little Accommodation. We managed to find a place and then checked out the local Casino. The sun rises and we hit the road yet again bound for a little town called Williams on the famous Route 66. We dropped our luggage off in our hotel and went strait to the Grand Canyon. We got three more inches of snow last night. Pam is feeling even worse than yesterday. Katherine seems to be better, and I'm almost back to normal. Katherine kept me up again last night, so (just for revenge) I made her shovel snow this morning.... read more
