New Orleans is a feast for the senses! That really sums it up. April and I have been in New Orleans for 2 full days and have already seen and done so much and yet sooooo much still remains unseen. There are many things I love about New Orleans. The history and overall "spooky" feeling. The buildings. The gas lamps and flicker lights. The French Quarter. Shop after shop. Restaurant after restaurant. Nightclub after nightclub. The beautiful homes that line St. Charles Ave in the Garden District. The Southern hospitality that greets you (just about) every where you go. The different kinds of food and, of course -- the music. New Orleans is also a photographers dream. Every building is worthy of a picture. There is something interesting about every tree. There are so many characters ... read more

Hello Everybody, This is a trial run for my blog. If you don't want to be on the list, or know of somebody who should be added, please email me and let me know. I am currently at my aunt and uncle's house in Seattle, trying to get the last few things taken care of. I spent a wonderful weekend with them and my cousins and grandma at my aunt's lake house. In another twelve house I will be at the airport, ready to board the plane for Cambodia. Actually, I'll be going to Taipei, where hopefully I will be able to find the plane for Cambodia in the hour and ten minutes that I have for my layover. I have my passport, travelers checks and a few things in a backpack - which should be ... read more

My soul can find no staircase to heaven through a place like this . Bob Tait The older I grow, the more I distrust the familiar doctrine that age brings wisdom. --H. L. Mencken LINKS Valley of Fire TRAVEL TIPS May 30. Today is a day in Las Vegas. I haven’t been here since 1971, at that time we saw Elvis perform, not his impersonator. It is a town of glitz, sparkle and more glitz. We were in touch Joan and Jim, friends from the “Burg”, and we scheduled lunch at New York, New York. Early in the day we walked the strip and stopped at the Bellagio to see the water show. There is a lot of walking. Bob complained to many jewelry stores and not outdoor shops. I think he wanted Gucci Hiking ... read more

Ready for our second 'summer adventure', Linda and I headed for Henderson and Las Vegas for another long weekend of fun. Since it was a holiday weekend we decided to get a jump on things and so came in late Thursday night. We checked into the Boulder Station hotel, since we knew we'd just be sleeping there. The next morning we headed out to Henderson, where we stayed the next three nights at the beautiful Hyatt resort. It was pretty much a party weekend, in which we stayed out late every night, slept in, and then did some moderate sightseeing during the day. Friday night was dancing at Gilley's in the Frontier, Saturday night we went to New York, New York to see the late showing of 'Zumanity' (a very entertaining show) and then hung out ... read more

I visited Chicago for the first time over Memorial Day Weekend. My main purpose for visiting the city was to see the U.S. play England in an international soccer friendly but I also saw a lot of the sites. The skyscrapers were amazing I have never seen anything quite like it (I was too young to remember my trip to NYC). Upon my return I had to write a story about my trip for my Writing Across the Media class. The story really sums up the sights and sounds of my time in Chicago. CHICAGO - The voices that rose above the screeching of metal of the L train had a distinct accent to them. The words that carried across the tracks were “cheers” and “mate”. Closing your eyes, you would have thought you were riding ... read more

Day 3 couldn't get out bed this morning...legs hurt like a mo fo Hot shower helped so on with the day.... Hit China town looking for bargains but it was all same old crap..shop after shop. Dragged Karl round all the shops anyway. More walking through Castro and up the STEEPEST hills ever. Found a great park called Buena Vista. Really steep climb up to the top. Well worth it despite my bitchin' Top of park had a little oasis with dog walkers, yoga folk, hippies, lovers and bums were all gathered. Gorgeous views... Down other side to the hippy HAIGHT street. You can smell the insence a mile off. On Karls insistance another Micro brew (Magnolia brewpub) Was good though and the beer helped my legs feel better. Great little shops here. bussed it back into Market street ... read more
