Life tastes more delicious when danger is on the horizon Had a goring away party last night at the bar Bishop's fiance, Chelle, works at, the Rack. The Rack has been a local haunt for me and the Krewe of Brigadoon, and the South Tampa Drunks (STDs), for years now and the food and service have gotten even better in the last year! But, up until actually sitting down with a pint of New Castle in my paw the whole day had been a whirlwind of trying to get everything done, with quality, and on time, with last minute details pounding me mercilessly. Worked till 5.30 and made sure they can contact me if needed then did started packing (I love waiting to the very last minute for some OCD reason - it just makes the ... read more

Went to West Palm Beach over the weekend and had a great (drunkin) time. Friday we just laid around and drank then met friends for dinner. Went to the land of the $14.00 martinin and the $9.00 Margarita (OUCH!) the Oakwood grill restaurant was nice but not overly speacial for be "acclaimed." Saturday was a beach day and then a wedding during the evening into the we hours of the morning (Thank God for the red room at Gatsby's http://www.gatsbysfl.com/photos.html) Sunday was a lazy day and then back to the grind on Monday. Best part of the trip was the upgrade to 1st class to and from for a mere $100.00 what a bargain.... read more

We spent the long holiday weekend in Aspen, continuing our training. There are great, even classic, rides in Aspen. Earlier I did Independence Pass before it opened for cars. This weekend I did Maroon Bells and Ashcroft. I am feeling good on the bike. Only 2 weeks until we leave for France... read more

Please forgive the title...sometimes my characteristic verbosity and penchant for superfluous writing gets the better of me. Well, I made it home, obviously. Coming home wasnt everything I anticipated in some ways, but in some ways it exceeded my expectations. Overall and completely...its definitely good to be home. Its funny though, that my parents left to go out of town 2 days after I got back though. They had a long planned trip to Massachusetts, and I chose not to go in favor of working. I have a temporary paid-internship at Classical Movements Inc, essentially a travel agency, but for huge organizations like the National Symphony Orch. and the Boston Philarmonic and such. It is tour season, so it is really hectic at the office, but I like it. I'll also be getting my security clearance ... read more

Howdy Y’all….. this has been the southern part of our tour, and yet again, is a complete contrast. It has been hot and humid, almost tropical....... you expect to see giraffes drinking at the water's edge, not long horn cattle. As I write this we are sitting out in a warm balmy night, after a crushingly humid day, chirruping things chirping, bitey things biting, fire flies glowing and in the background , country music being performed from the porch. Yep we are most definitely in the South. It has been a great time and full of all those things you think are a “cliché of country”. Elegant southern houses, cowboys , long horn cattle & horses, Blues & Country music, catfish and gumbo. The last few weeks have been a bit more urban based than normal, ... read more

Last Tuesday, June 27th Hope and I hopped in the Mustang for a 12 hour trip to Tega Cay, South Carolina, where lives the majority of Hope's family. The perceived emphasis of our trip was to spend time with Hope's mother, Linda, while she recovered from post breast cancer reconstructive surgery. We are very glad to report that Linda is doing quite well and should be fully abreast in the next couple of weeks. Needless to say, the Little One and I had a lot of fun and of course stirred up the southern drawling folks of this rapidly developing, "hot as balls," (Hopes term) southern town. Our trip started with the top down and the Sirius Satellite Radio cranked as we cruised down 75 to the Ohio turnpike, to the 77 all the way to ... read more

This was a great day. I started it out at about 8:30 AM by walking almost two miles from my hotel to Navy Pier. The streets were very empty out where I am staying (they are usually very busy) due to the holiday and "Taste of Chicago" in Grant Park. At Navy Pier, I had a quick bite to eat at McDonald's and then picked up a bicylce I reserved online from Bike Chicago. It was a comfortable mountain bike with easy to shift gears. From there, I rode leisurely along the coastline... around Shedd Aquarium (highly recommended, but I went there a few years back) and to the Adler Planetarium (http://www.adlerplanetarium.org/). Then I watched "Space in Your Face", which is mainly a lesson on the constellations and some other interesting facts. It was early and ... read more
