Graduation went well, it was so nice to see Matt walk across the stage and get his diploma. He was Sigmacomlauda (I think that is how it's spelled)// I will leave it how my dad typed it because I think his phonetic version is awesome - matt//, any way he had a 4.0 GPA. Very good for a guy who was working third shift and raising a family at the same time. It was held in the aviation museum on NAS Pensacola, a neat place to visit if you can get there. We stayed at Tammi's parent’s home while in Florida. They always treat us very well when we visit. They also fed us well. Dave is very good at the grill and the deserts are the best. Went back to AL on Sunday evening, ... read more

I have been home for nearly four days now. In recap my trip was the single most fanastic experience of my life. I have learned and experienced so many things and nearly all of them are unrelateable. I cannot convey how dwarfing the colleseum made me feel, the overwhelming feeling of insignifigance the ancient greek pantheon instilled in me, and how unskilled I am by Monet's "Lillies." Just in general a humbling and growing experience. I have seen and felt many an amazing sights and emotions, but upon returning home I have realized that there is (if any) sight than that of family and close friends and no feeling can compare to that of complete relaxation and comfort spent in their company. It is strage to say (and I am sure even moreso to hear) but ... read more

I have my suitcase packed and everything ready for the trip. I have been taking care of last minute details over the past few days with mom, getting things like extra shampoo and a gift for my host family. Yesterday we spent all afternoon packing up my things in the house since we have to move out by July 15. Tim will be doing all the moving by himself, which I think is very gallant, but to make it easier I packed all my things already. I didn’t realize though until after all my clothes were taped up in boxes and all my things for Morelia were in the suitcase that I hadn’t set aside any clothes to wear for the last few days I was in the U.S. Duh. Right now I am nervous ... read more

Blogger: Katie Location: Really flat Arkansas. Well, we have now crossed into Arkansas, only one more state to go. Last night in Memphis we wandered around to find something to eat (after seeing a little bit of "Next Best Thing" and "American Inventor"). We settled on this place called Dan McGuiness, which we were expecting to be a dirty Irish pub, but it opened onto a mall with a courtyard of trees and a fountain inside it was very disorienting. The food was delicious. We think Memphis is a good food city, although not sure why no one seems to sell breakfast. We had to settle on Waffle House again in West Memphis, AR. PS. At dinner DJ said that he really wanted to go to Murphy's Tavern but he can't now because he's moved. ... read more

Blogger: Katie Location: Paris, Texas. Howdy everyone! Well, we're in Texas as DJ told you. We just pulled off at a rest stop about 15 miles ago or so to switch out. I could only bang out about 100miles. Thankfully we're almost there. It is weird though to think that we are almost at our destination. It's been a really neat experience to drive across the country out here to Texas. It's too bad that DJ wasn't feeling well. But thank you all for your comments and well wishes. I'm sure that we will continue to update for the next couple of days as DJ gets settled in. Also weird. According to the map at the rest stop of Texas, there are different major regions of Texas, I believe it was 5, and they are all ... read more

im not really sure what i am going to write but i guess il start at the beginning.... i left adelaide for sydney 13/6/07 at 640am then when i got to sydney i had to go through customs and all that crap and i had to wait around afterwards for like an hour maybe for my flight. i met 2 people who were also going to ny for camps aswell. i found out afterwards that the flight to ny wasnt direct and we had to go to los angeles first. so the whole plane trip i slept for no more than 2 hours which sucked because by then i had been awake for like 40 hours! so at lax we had to go through customs and imigration again, then we had to wait for like another ... read more

Thursday June 14th the Cozy Turtle hit the road bound for Alaska. We left at 7:15 am. The second time we left at 7:45 am. We hadn’t gone far before we found we had forgotten our favorite CD’s! So back we went to retrieve our music. When we left home it was cool and cloudy with off and on rain.(sort of like Alaska, I think). Our route took us west. The rolling hills of the Virginia piedmont turned into the foothills of the Shenandoah Mountains. We drove on through the Shenandoah Valley toward the Appalachian mountains of West Virginia. I noticed the landscape passing our window was basically in two tones - greens and grays. A steel gray sky; a light gray highway; mountains that were dark gray shrouded in an almost white mist; gray barns ... read more

Day 3 -Departed 6AM CST Kickapoo is a very popular name through Illinois, Iowa, and Wisconsin. Corn is also very popular. Corny jokes in Illinois Benj’s truck still likes to run in 2nd. Mike and Mandie have whiplash. After listening to the same XM station (we really like it), and hearing the same commercials over and over again, you tend to hear them a little differently… Betty White will forever be known as the crazy old lady from Lake Placid, not the Pet Meds Plus spokesperson. There's this guy who makes a crap load of money every night before he goes to bed. By our calculations, he's gone to bed 35 times in the past 3 days. Dubuque is a really nice town. It reminded us of Wheeling…except it’s all bunched together and actually looks ... read more
