Texas Blogger: DJ Location: Texarkana, Texas Well, as of 5:16 pm CST, we made it to Texas. With how I was feeling earlier today, I didn't think we would, but I've been pushing fluids for the last few hours and I'm feeling much better now. Katie basically drove from Memphis to Little Rock, then I drove to the Texas border. Katie has taken over the driving and can hopefully knock out a good chunk of the driving that we ave left. I knew I was in trouble this morning when I realized that I wasn't sweating. I think I was just very dehydrated, maybe with a bit of sun stroke. Something I'm going to have to adjust to living in the south, I'm sure. My uncle that lives in Texas was nice enough to run ... read more

My headline really wasnt funny but WOO! I got free wi fi! after sitting here for like 20 minutes stressing due to lack of free wifi. So. I had the best flight ever, it only got delayed by 55mins, and I got a full row to myself! I lay down with blankets and pillows and had the best sleep ever. The food was actually really really nice. I landed at JFK, didnt get interrogated *phew*. Got my bag and got on shittyshuttle within like.. 20 mins or so of being there. It took 2 hours to get here because New York traffic is just like it is in the films. I knew I was here when the sounds of horns and screeching cars started to pour into my ears from all directions. Checked into the ... read more

I’ve just returned from downtown Tulsa. I drove along part of Route 66 to get into downtown - by chance - but it was a fun drive looking for old signs and buildings. They have a fence and tarp up around the vault (as you will see in the photos). The YMCA is directly across the street. I went in and talked with the guy at the desk and he had the security guard try to take me up to an area with a balcony overlooking where he thought I’d have a good vantage point. But we couldn’t get to the area and I only got a few images from a 2nd floor window. We went up to the 4th or 5th floor and on a rooftop, but were on the side and another section ... read more

Well everyone despite everything today, we finally made it to Lewisville, TX. Here's a video of what DJ's apartment looks like. It's pretty great, as I continue to inform you during the video. I apologize if you can't hear too well. On the way in we passed this amazing gigantic reservoir. We also passed many more cows and a beautiful sky. I love big sky country, even though it is a little disorienting to be around such a flat area. The main "inclines" here on the roads are the giant interchanges of highways. It's ridiculous. Lewisville seems to be a great place. We brought everything in out of the ... read more

That's what Grand Tetons means. Or something like that. I don't speak French but Jake did research on it and that's what he tells us. How whoever named them decided to call them that I don't know. Doesn't seem to be much resemblance. What they do resemble is another little slice of heaven. Ohmygosh, I love the Tetons. Here, I could live. Mountains everywhere, beautiful lakes and rivers, no humidity...aahhh! Of course, there is the pesky drop of snow in the winter but everyplace has a down side right? I guess I would just have to learn to ski. But for now I will enjoy it on my own two feet. And another's 4 feet. Pique your interest? Let me tell you about it first. The boys were starting to get a little reluctant about ... read more

Glacier National Park is located in northwestern Montana along the Canadian border, and consists of some 1,600 square miles of mountains, forests, rivers, lakes, and, of course, glaciers (over 50 of them). It became our 10th National Park in 1910. In 1891 the Great Northern Railway had crossed the continental divide at nearby Marias Pass, opening the region to settlers, miners, and inevitably tourists. Seeing the potential of the area’s breathtaking beauty, the railroad promoted the region and built a series of lodges across the area connected by primitive trails. Tourists would travel on horseback, staying overnight in the lodges. To make the park more accessible, in the early 1920’s a project was undertaken to construct a 50-mile road across the heart of the Park, crossing the continental divide at Logan Pass. When completed in ... read more

Eddie and I went and visited the Pearl Harbor Memorial. It was pretty interesting. We got lost and on the way there Eddie tried climbing up a tree in hopes to obtain some coconuts but to no avail. We went to the memorial and it is quite interesting. The memorial floats on the remains of the U.S.S Arizona, which you can see through the waters of the harbor. Not only that but you can also see oil floating on the top of the water in some spots. It was kind of a massive day, only because it was quite a breathtaking sight. I am sure that the Twin-Tower memorial will have a very similar effect. After spending about 2-3 hours here we left. This post is short and only because I am not sure how to ... read more

Trek AmericaKim Mwah So finally we arrive in LA after what seemed hours of no sleep!!! My journey starts with the Qantas Red Eye from Perth to Melbourne. I said goodbye to my mom and Jeremy as I boarded the flight, I would see them again in 12 days after finishing a Trek America that started in LA and finished in San Francisco. I arrived in Melbourne at 5:00am cold and already tired....... I meet up with the other 2 boys from Perth and we decided could we be bothered leaving the airport or should we hang around for 6 hours before we had to check into our next flight. Decision was made.... we stayed in the airport, got some coffee and hot chocolate and sat around talking for a few hours, before laying down on ... read more

Brian and I experienced our first instance of car troubles on the drive from Atlanta to Memphis. It happened in the middle-of-nowhere Alabama. Brian and I were just driving along when all of a sudden we heard a loud gug-gug-gug come from our car, accompanied by the sight of our tire tread flying off behind us in the rearview mirror! Needless to say, we pulled over to check out the damage. Apparently, when you’ve been driving for a long time on a hot road, the rubber on your tire tread can literally melt off leaving you with a bum tire…and did I mention we were in the middle of NOWHERE?!?! So we examined the tire for a few minutes and decided we’d try to drive on it for a little while instead of attempting to ... read more

Graduation went well, it was so nice to see Matt walk across the stage and get his diploma. He was Sigmacomlauda (I think that is how it's spelled)// I will leave it how my dad typed it because I think his phonetic version is awesome - matt//, any way he had a 4.0 GPA. Very good for a guy who was working third shift and raising a family at the same time. It was held in the aviation museum on NAS Pensacola, a neat place to visit if you can get there. We stayed at Tammi's parent’s home while in Florida. They always treat us very well when we visit. They also fed us well. Dave is very good at the grill and the deserts are the best. Went back to AL on Sunday evening, ... read more
