Hola amigos! Just hanging in sunny Seattle. First time here in the sunshine and it is absolutely amazing. Caught some fish yesterday here in Washington and did some drinking with Skyler last night and am paying for it this morning. Maresa and I made some more major purchase for the trip while in the big city. Just a few more months and tons of Spanish to learn. We are getting really excited. So far things have worked out in Bozeman, M and I have landed some jobs and are hoping to make some coin for our adventures. Lots of things to do in Bozeman, biking, climbing, and tons of hiking. Maresa and I have logged about 25 miles in a week or so. Just getting ready. Skyler and I are wakeboarding today on the lake and ... read more

Saturday was a day dedicated to exploring the Capitol Hill neighborhood. I had intended to start at the Seattle Asian Art Museum, but was sidetracked by St. Mark’s Episcopal Cathedral. The exterior, in part, looked like an old, concrete warehouse. The interior was simply immense. When the cathedral was originally drafted, it was to be much more elegant and ornate than it is today, but the depression that started in 1929 tempered those plans. Volunteer Park is home to the Asian Art Museum, as well as the site of the old water tower which serves as a unique 360° panoramic viewpoint of the area. If you’re out of shape like I am, your knees will tremble and your face will flush, but the climb to the top is utterly worth the exertion. Your gaze will travel ... read more

I have really enjoyed Julia's blog as she travelled through Europe these past several months. So because I love to copy her every move, I have decided that I will blog as well (and post it on facebook for easy access, just like her). So many travellers I have spoken with suggest writing a journal to record memories, experiences, etc. This is one of my biggest weaknesses. I am terrible at remembering and reliving my own amazing life experiences. I had made a commitment to do this with my most recent job traveling as a consultant and failed miserably. Hopefully, the technological path will lead to more success. I am vowing to update this blog every 2-3 days regardless of the price I will have pay for internet time. I also bought a new camera (many ... read more

Sara was in town!!

Life on the island was good. I kinda just hung out, saw the sights and played with the kid. Easy enough! My first day there I went over to Port somethin'-er-other to see the touristy stuff over there. We had pretty good pizza, awesome hot chocolate, and hit up a few stores. On the way back to the house we stopped off to see rosie the whale and rudy the dall's porpoise. Well, we saw their bones. Apparently, if an aquatic mammal beaches itself on Whidbey Island they like to hang up their skeleton. It was kinda neat, but weird at the same time. After that we got ice cream and then went home and crashed, enjoying the last kid free evening of my stay there. The next day started off nice and lazy, at least ... read more

I left the relaxation of Tigard to head further north to Washington (specifically Whidbey Island). After a relatively short drive I stopped at Pike Place Market, in Seattle. Got a mocha at the first ever Starbucks (tasted the same) and wandered around the shops. Found a few christmas presents (no telling what they are...the recipients might be reading!). I got back on the road after i spent just a little bit too much money. The trip up to the island was mostly uneventful. Saw a fun sign that apparently is put up by an extreme right winger that I somehow actually agreed with. Go fig. My issuses didn't start until I got closer to the island. I ran into a road block just east of the ferry and had to be talked back to the right ... read more

Started off with brunch and Old Ebbitt Grill. Monkey sure likes his Bass Ale. Today’s sights were The Washington Monument, The Lincoln Memorial, The Vietnam Veterans Memorial (‘The Wall’), and the outside of The White House. Since I already knew we had to go back for at least a week to get everything in, we didn’t even bother with trying to get tickets for the top of the W.M.. The Lincoln Memorial is just as advertised, though a little bigger than I'd pictured. The ‘Wall’ was smaller than I’d imagined, and there were almost no mementos left at the foot of the panels. No one from Dad’s side of the family is on the wall, and I forgot to ask about Mom’s side. At The White House, it looked like there was news conference either scheduled ... read more

Have you ever wanted to spend a long evening crammed inside a dirty Northstar? I sure did, and that dream came true last weekend in Sequim, WA. After having dinner with our hosts, the H-s', we took our leave of the house and repaired to the quarters we were to share that evening. The Northstar's berths included one fold out table, suitable for single accomodation, and one upper bunk, capable of sleeping two. After Mass was routed by a double Rock, Paper, Scisors loss, it was determined that I would enjoy the single bed, whilst Mass shared the upper bunk with Ruby. Mass did not find this acceptable. Without going into the ugly details, let's just say that Mass took his loss poorly and boycotted the Northstar all together. So much for Mass. Anyway, shortly after ... read more

Well, I guess I just can't sit still. I briefly looked for employment in Seattle, however, I soon came to the realization that I didn't want to work in an office. So after expanding my search . . . I leave for Wyoming after I finish this. I will be working at Flagg Ranch Resort, leading horseback rides. It is located 2 miles south of Yellowstone and 5 miles north of Grand Teton National Park. If I stumble upon any adventures (read: get lost again) I will throw up some posts, also, I will try to get some photos up. Adios, Peter PS I've been trying to update the pictures, but the uploader thing is a bit tempermental... read more

Hi everyone, We have had quite a couple of days! It started off with a visit to Olympic National Park on the Olympia Peninsula in Northwest Washington. The weather was not the best and the park was much bigger than we had initially though, so we decided to spend two days within the park. Thankfully on our second day we had beautiful weather, it was the first time we saw seventy in about 1 ½. Our first stops within the park were Hurricane Ridge, Brooks Falls, and Marymere Falls. Hurricane ridge has beautiful panoramic views of the Olympic Mountain Range but unfortunately we couldn’t see much with the fog and clouds. We did get a couple of glances when the clouds lifted briefly. Instead we decided to do some hiking to the waterfalls. The waterfalls were ... read more
