Greetings from San Antonio, Texas, Y'all! Before I start, if you don't agree with something I put on here, please don't flood me with messages!! Not everyone is going to like Fiji, Ok!? God, half the Fijian tourist board have left comments telling me I'm wrong about Fiji! Er,hello? I'm never wrong:) Right, so, we met Ju's brother Mark in San Fran and had a great time & great weather too. San Fran is known as the Fog city, because of the great rolling fog that seems to cover the place each day. We must've been lucky because it was pretty much sun & blue skies every day. The food in the USA is pretty good, especially when your brother-in-law treats you to dinner at your fave restaurant - The Cheesecake Factory! Delicious, even if Mark ... read more

T-minus four days until we leave for Europe and I haven't even thought about packing yet. Maybe in 3.9 days I'll start worrying about that. In the meantime I have a BBQ to host, kickball tourney to coach, and a toga party the throw. I have setup this blog so I could update my good friends all at once on which jails I have visited along the way. If you don't see a post for a couple of weeks, there's a good chance the policia didn't take kindly to my bribes. I can't promise how much or often I'll be able to post while I'm in Europe because, frankly, I don't know where I'm going and if they'll have a computer for me to use. I hope you all find this as entertaining, rich, and compelling ... read more

I think one of the most time consuming things to do for this trip is to pack for it. How do you travel for a month with one backpack and a daypack? I can't bring an outfit for each day but I can wash clothes along the way. I am traveling to three different countries and will be on the move alot so I can't take along lots of luggage. So after much debate I have decided what I am going to take with me and the verdict is not very much stuff at all. If I have to buy it while I am there then so be it. If I can't find that item on that side of the world then I have to ask myself how can millions of people do without that particular ... read more

Welcome to the journal of Historian Herb and his traveling adventures. I am here in San Antonio (the home of the Alamo) preparing for my adventure. Gathering the items, clothes, and bags needed to travel to far off places. Two weeks from today I am going to embark on the biggest travel experience so far in my life. I am going to travel to Israel, Egypt, and Jordan from June 3rd to July 4th. I have been preparing for this trip since December 05 and my family, students, and coworkers are starting to get tired of me talking about my trip. The interesting thing so far is telling people where I am going this summer. I get mixed reaction such as, "I have always wanted to go there", "Are you going to wear a bulletproof vest", ... read more

The Coca-Cola Report! As far as taste, it tastes the same as back home. its possibly a little sweeter but that may be influenced by the food I have been eating. However the shape of the cans are different. As you can see in my photo the top of the can tappers off at a sharper angle and the mouth hole is larger. This shape is more streamline, shaving milli-seconds off the time it takes to get a can from the table to my mouth. And the larger hole allows more to fill my mouth. A very popular drink in Texas that I have taken a strong liking to is Ice Tea. It tastes like regular tea but with ice. That may sound stupid to you and it did to me but its grown on me ... read more
