Well, I hope you guys don't see me as a rude New Yorker, but maybe that could be a lame excuse for now. I'm so sorry, but yes, it's been a long long time and so much has happened. I loved reading all my comments from you guys, thanks for all the love!! Ok, in a nut shell...let me see...I'm still apt. hunting BUT I think I might have found one in Greenwich Village today, so please please keep the fingers crossed...even bigger news, I am officially employed and have been for a few weeks. I work for a media planning company as an Asst. Media Planner, they are actually called MPG, media planning group, but I work for their sister company Media Contacts. Do you know how sexy I find you, just from you opening your mouth? Not my words, the words of a very very drunk female New Yorker who about 5mis before saying this was falling off her stall and insanely cheering for Agassi on the T.V. This is mine and Liam’s first night on the tiles in New York The name of the bar is PJ Clarks and the location, upper eastside Manhattan. Picture the scene: Myself and fellow traveler/met Liam are sat at the bar. Its our 1st night out and we’re confused about tipping. Surrounding us are loud over the top Americans fresh from a hard days grind on Wall Street. It’s a bit weird, the women are drinking beer, and the men (decked out with white collar and cuffs) are sipping drinks like ... read more

Ladles and jellyspoons I am in love, L-U-V, love. Her name is Linda and she’s the most amazing thing in New York. How best describe her? Well she has piercing green eyes and a presence beyond imagination. Okay she could do with updating the wardrobe cos the flowing green robes do not show off the goods if ya know what I saying! She’s roughly 151ft tall and weighs 300 tons; she carries a torch in one hand and a big ass book in t’other… I am of course talking about the Statue of Liberty, not an actual person for those of you who think im dating Sandy Allen (don’t know who that is? Google it). Ahhh the Statue of Liberty, Lady Liberty, the gateway to America, the big green lady with the torch and stuff. Or ... read more

Last day The very last day. We got up @ 9 ish and as the hotel doesn't have a restaurant we went for a walk along Broadway to look for somewhere to eat. The Manhattan Diner (review at http://www.hiddenboston.com/NewYorkRestaurants.html) was packed and we had to queue outside. For about $4 you got Orange Juice, a cooked breakfast, toast and as much coffee as you could drink. Come on London why can't you do this? After breakfast we packed out bags and left them in storage. As our flight was at 21:25 we booked a taxi for 17:30 which would allow us an hour to get to JFK (should take 40 minutes) and 3 hours to check-in (Virgin were opening the check-in desk 4 hours before the flight so that everyone could clear security). The kids ... read more

ARIVE IN NEW YORK The journey from Heathrow was Ok although took ages to get through security. Once I left Dad, Abi and Steve I did start to get nervous and my hands started to shake - definitely needed a stiff drink even if it was early in the morning! My hostel the Big Apple Hostel is just off time square - so it’s really busy and expensive. Done lots so far, went to the Met Museum which was fantastic but so big it would take you forever to look at everything, my favorite painting was Monet’s Water lilies, also loved the ‘Cool Britannia’ section which had been designed by Viviane Westwood. Also took a bus tour around the City so got to understand the lay out a bit more, really simple, it would be hard ... read more

Hello all, did the typical tourist things today and went on the boat to Liberty Island and Ellis Island. Then headed up to the Rockafella (?) Centre for great views of the city. The weather has been clearing up so managed to keep dry today. Also the MTV music awards is being held at Radio City tomorrow so hung out with the screaming groupies to do a bit of celeb spotting. Saw Ice T and Steve O and alot of random people who we didn't have a clue who they were. Oh yeah but we did see Fergie from the Black Eyed Peas practising her song in the street. So generally an exciting day. Off to Cafe Wha tonight to watch some jazz, should be good. Frankie and Neil... read more

Hello, well we made it to The Big Apple. The weather is pretty wet but we are putting our rain jackets to good use and it hasn't stopped us seeing the sights. Saw Brooklyn Bridge and Grand Central yesterday and ventured around central park today. We're praying the weather holds off tomorrow so we can experience some dry views from the Empire State building! But having a great time and enjoying the atmosphere that is New York. Off now to my favourite place in the city, South Street Sea Port to enjoy some cocktails and the views...oh and to do some retail therapy at Abercrombie and Fitch!!! Frankie and Neil ... read more
