Since we have left our lake life, we have resumed our wandering from one family’s house to another. We are certainly making up for all the winter months when we don’t see our children for extended periods. We are loving being with all of them....just hope the feeling is mutual. Before we had to leave the lake cottage, we were thrilled to meet up with our Tropical Palms friends, Jill & Bob. They were staying at a campground fairly close to Keuka Lake. We met at The Switzerland Inn on the Lake for a yummy lunch. It was terrific being with them again. They are so much fun. They have been traveling around New York State this summer. From here, they were heading to Buffalo and then Indiana. Safe travels, dear friends. More of our families ... read more

Life is good....very good. We are still at our rented cottage on Keuka Lake. Only a few more days to enjoy this easy living life we have become accustomed to. Hope you have found yourselves relaxed and liking this experience. It’s so much more fun knowing you are swimming right along with us. We heard your panicked screams as you entered the chilly water but once you immersed yourself, we heard your screams of joy. Yahoo. We found it easier floating around when the waves were calm....but we also liked the rocking sensation when they were flapping against us. “The seas were angry that day, my friend!” I haven’t decided which float I like the best....they are all good. I told you you were going to like it! We are loving it. A dream-come-true. Another item fulfilled on our bucket list. Where are we, you ask? We are at a cottage on Keuka Lake.....for two whole weeks. We arrived here on August 1st (hooray) and have to leave on August 15th ....Rats! We are relishing every moment of every day we are here. Keuka Lake is one of the Finger Lakes in New York State. At the lower end of the lake is Hammondsport, NY. A beautiful community with the Curtiss Wright museum and a wonderful classic boat museum/winery (that we toured a few years ago with my cousin, Paul and his wife Clare). Keuka Lake forks near the top....one end is Penn Yan, NY and the other end of the fork is Branchport....that’s the ... read more

As Happy Wanderers, we continue our rotation visiting and staying with our generous and thoughtful children. Thank you, dear children. Fortunately, we didn’t stop at having one child (like me) because that one child would have been burnt out by now with our constant presence and would be signing us up for the local nursing home. With all of our doctor visits...maybe that is where we need to be. Nooooooo. Lulu said she’s not ready for the home, yet. She’s way too spry. On July 4th, we were at our son, Cory’s, house. The evening before, he and Penny had a wonderful campfire for us to enjoy in the beautiful surroundings of his home. On the holiday, they had a 4th of July celebration. Many of our family were there as well as Penny’s family. We ... read more

Nothing stops the annual hot dog eating contest sponsored by Nathan's. Pandemic or not, starving children in Africa, nothing stops this annual event. This blog was supposed to be about our 3-week trip to Ireland and Scotland that we had planned for May/June. That of course was rescheduled due to Covid-19 and the severe travel restrictions. It is tentatively set for October/November of this year, but if the 14-day quarantines are still in affect in Ireland and Scotland, that is likely to get rescheduled yet again. We do have a Plan B and Plan C for out October trip, but Plan B (Southern Driving Tour) has already been scrapped because of Covid. Plan C Autumn in New England, is in the planning stages, but again unless states lift the 14-day quarantine, that is likely to not happen. That brings us to this 4th of July weekend trip. We are in the middle of phase 2 and 3 reopening’s, but ... read more

Here, there and yonder. That’s been where our various destinations have taken us....and you, too....if you are still hitching a ride with us. Lulu resigned from keeping a roster. She said she was on a vacation and needed a break. If you say so, Miss Fusspuss. Currently, we have rotated our extended stays between Scio, NY and Campbell, NY. Our daughter, Lory and her family, live in Scio. Our son, Cory, has his home in Campbell. They have graciously allowed us to invade their home space and made us feel welcome. Thank you, dear children. We are counting down our doctor and dentist appointments. We are about half way through these health rendezvous. Yesireebob! We are definitely a vagabond couple. No house, no job, NOTHING! But, actually we are blessed because we have our family. They have taken us in and made us feel welcome and comfortable. We have a roof over our heads and food to eat. What more could we ask? Confused? Not up to date? Okay...let’s back up a bit. Dig out those dusty time machines and settle yourselves back into them. Set the time to the end of May, at Tropical Palms, when we were getting ready to leave our winter home and head North. Boy, that seems so long ago! I even have to refresh my memory by retracing my steps through my photos. Thank, God, I take zillions. While prepping our RV for our departure, somehow I managed to cause our big, front ... read more

For those of you who must travel right now, it must be a daunting experience. Fortunately, planes are not full, airports nearly empty, and most of the people you encounter are wearing a mask. I could foresee problems with rental cars, luggage carts, airline armrests, and sick travel related staff and other travelers. How many times have you traveled with somebody coughing and sneezing on the entire length of the flight? And your rental car could be a incubator for the virus, and myriad other things. So, what can you do, besides cancel or postpone your trip? First, I would wear a MASK!!!! Second, change your clothes often. I am guilty of wearing a light jacket several times before washing. Thank goodness for warmer weather. Third, some eyewear is also recommended. This could be reading glasses, ... read more

Tonight, I was supposed to be boarding a plane at JFK Airport in New York. Sixteen hours later I was going to disembark in Manila. My epic trip this year was to be five weeks in Asia. The first three weeks I was going to travel around the Philippines for the first time. After that I was going to fly to Japan where I would reconnect with my past life for two weeks in Sapporo. Now not. The world has currently gone mad with the coronavirus and all our lives have been put on hold. Everyone I know is now locked behind their own closed doors, hunkered down with those they love and waiting for this terrible pandemic to be well and truly dealt with. Never before have I seen anything like what is going on ... read more
