As Happy Wanderers, we continue our rotation visiting and staying with our generous and thoughtful children. Thank you, dear children. Fortunately, we didn’t stop at having one child (like me) because that one child would have been burnt out by now with our constant presence and would be signing us up for the local nursing home. With all of our doctor visits...maybe that is where we need to be. Nooooooo. Lulu said she’s not ready for the home, yet. She’s way too spry.
On July 4th, we were at our son, Cory’s, house. The evening before, he and Penny had a wonderful campfire for us to enjoy in the beautiful surroundings of his home. On the holiday, they had a 4th of July celebration. Many of our family were there as well as Penny’s family. We had tons of delicious food to ooh and aah over and then devour. Corn hole was a popular game for many....just like at Tropical Palms. Cory and our grandson, Travis, did some kayaking in the pond. ??Roll’in’, Roll‘in Down the River ??. The culmination of the party was a spectacular fireworks show put on by Cory. He really outdid himself. I thought I was
at Disneyworld again. Glistening sparkles and horrendous bangs. They were fabulous. Memories made. Thank you Cory & Penny.
We moved on to our daughter, Kim’s, home. Of course, we enjoyed ourselves around their pool. Always delicious food to eat. Conner and Tim joined us to make it a real family time. They prepared a lovely guest room and we are thrilled to be the first ones to enjoy it. Super, comfy bed. I almost think I am back in our RV with our “best in the world” mattress. Thank you, Kim & Jim.
Cory’s sister, Gwen, and brother-in-law, Bob demonstrated their kind and generous and thoughtful ways again....some of their many glorious attributes. They drove up from Clearfield, PA. to our polebarn in Shongo. They brought one of their kayaks to give to our grandson, Travis. They are the best! Cheers to Gwen & Bob. After Travis floated in a kayak on Cory’s pond, he got the bug. ?? Roll’in’, Roll‘in Down the River ??. He drove to our polebarn from Rochester. He was thrilled with their generous gift. Cory drove down from Rochester, also. I was feeling under the weather so missed this memorable moment. Lory came
over to see everyone. Much to celebrate on this day.....the biggest & best celebration was Gwen’s Birthday. Yes, she came to our polebarn on her birthday! What a great person she is. Everyone loves her. Happy, Happy Birthday Gwen. Thank you Gwen & Bob.
On another day, Cory and I made it down together to our polebarn. Our wonderful grandson, Alan, arranged to get our golf cart up and running again. We took a memory ride back along the old WAG (railroad) trail that follows the Genesee River. For so many years, we have walked this trail, yes...walked and cross country skied it a million times, appreciating the beautiful nature that surrounds us. Lulu was happy with our visits. She even found Baby Jesus to ride with her as well as sit in a lawn chair wheel chair.
During this visit, we were staying at our daughter, Lory’s, house. We appreciate that her house provides us with the closest proximity to our doctors and the polebarn. She enjoys her plants. I’m showing you just one of her huge, thriving monster plants. She is a big time collector.....where did she inherit that?? I’m showing you just a minuscule part
of a few of her collections. She collects cows plus other items as you can see. Thank you Lory & Jay.....and Al.
Celebration time: we drove to Rochester to celebrate our daughter, Kim’s birthday.....July 19th. Jim took all of us out to the Texas Roadhouse. It was a fun and festive day. Happy Birthday, Kim! You deserve only true happiness for all the kindness you do for others. Thank you, Jim.
Always on this weekend, Wellsville has their famous Balloon Rally. Because of COVID-19, it was cancelled this year. But a few local balloonist showed up to give the folks an awesome display.
On our way to Rochester, Cory squealed our car to a halting stop. Lulu almost flipped out of her car seat. There, in a driveway, was a beautiful, red MGA for sale. Cory owned three MGA’s in his younger years. This was a 1962. Cory had a blue 1962. The old fella who was selling this beauty had refurbished it all. ...not all original but super nice. He had it priced higher than Cory thought was reasonable. He has seen all original refurbished MGA’s at the Mecum Auction that he attends for less. So.....he
didn’t buy this one....maybe next time at the Mecum Auction. Plus, the old fella wouldn’t let him drive this one...that clinched it!! Just sitting in it couldn’t make the deal....too bad. Lulu was sad. She had been putting on her hairnet.
Our most recent event was honoring our good friends on their 50th anniversary. Buddy and Donna Shelander were originally from Smethport, PA. — Cory’s hometown. Cory and Buddy were best friends from kindergarten to present. That’s a looong time! Best Buds! Donna is an angel on earth. She is always doing something to make others happy. She is so gracious and loving. She seldom takes a break...she is like the Energizer Bunny. She made me feel like Beulah Blob. They have a nice camper trailer at a lovely campground. Because we didn’t have our RV, we were able to stay in one of their most unique cabins at this Alleghenyriver Campground: their authentic railroad caboose. Toot-Toot....all aboard. Of course, Lulu wasted not a second in boarding the caboose. She felt she was the caboose conductor and brakemen. Cory put on his conductor hat and tried to drive it around but it wouldn’t move. He wanted to collect tickets
from everyone...too bad, Caboose Cory. Buddy and Donna renewed their vows in their church. Her niece made a gorgeous, delicious wedding cake. The luncheon was delicious with so many yummy dishes. It was so nice to be with and meet all of their families. We stayed in the little red caboose for three nights. We so enjoyed being with Buddy and Donna again. It has been a long time since we have seen them. It was so pretty and relaxing along the river’s edge. Everyone had a marvelous time. Others stayed in various lodging so the party went on and on. Congratulations on your 50th anniversary, Buddy and Donna....and thank you for your hospitality.
It hasn’t all been fun, fireworks and festivities. Cory had to go to an oral surgeon and have an imbedded root removed. He did well with it and is all healed up now. Whew! No more Puffy Face. Now he can just wear a puffy shirt....(Seinfeld)
As for me, it’s not been pretty. I have various symptoms which have required some tests on my heart. I had an EKG, Holter Monitor, Echocardiogram and lab work (note my horrible hematoma following that part...booo). I saw
my Doctor yesterday to review everything. Nothing was significant....?good? We still don’t know the basis for my symptoms so now I have an appointment with a cardiologist in August. I never just want to treat symptoms....I need to know the root cause for everything. Maybe this doctor will give me more answers....hope so. I’ve not been my usual ball of fire. Yup...more of a blob ball. Lulu and Cory have nursed me along nicely.
Presently, we are at Lory & Jay’s house. We have an exciting, upcoming experience arriving very soon. Cory has been working daily at our polebarn preparing for it. You will have to tune in to our next blog to know what we are talking about. I think you’ll really like it.
See you then....toot-a-loo. Note: 47 photos to see so keep scrolling way, way down and even go to two other pages.
