Day 4 we are still waking up early, so breakfast with playtime then we headed out. We headed to Times Square and I lined up to try and get matinee tickets for the new hit musical Spiderman turn off that dark on broadway. While I did this i ended up on a billboard in Times Square - a niffty vodka ad puts the crowd in the ad. So the queue went quickly so I'd gotten our tickets by 10.05am. The kids and Greg returned later from window shopping with very exciting news, They were standing outside the Disney store in Times Square when they approached Kasey and asked her to open the store for them, she got to use the HUGE Disney key and opened the store - very exciting. They also gave her a replica ... read more

Can you believe it - Cooper and Greg are watching the State of origin. It's just after 8am and we all have been up since 5.30am. Yesterday was another long day -up at 6.00am at the airport by 8am (after the 2 hour trip into Paris I wasn't risking it). Flight on time but still nearly missed our connection to Newark in Frankfurt due to delays on the tarmac, kids excited it was a jumbo jet and asking why we couldn't sit upstairs - I explained they could that if they wanted to when they were older. Seats VERY uncomfortable but personal tv's made the time go quick. Watched "episodes" - highly recommend it even though it stars Matt Le Blanc - is english comedy at it's darkest. Not looking forward to the last leg of ... read more

Empire state of mind Lauantai päätettiin alottaa lauttareissulla Staten Islandille. Paljon työtunteja on nähty sen e... read more

Hello to everyone!! Well, its hard to believe, but I'm sitting here writing this entry with just one day left until I get on a plane and head over to Thailand to start this adventure of a lifetime. If there's one thing I know for sure about this trip, its that I am definitely not looking forward to a 21 hour plane ride. Sunday, January 1st 2012 - NYC to Hong Kong, Hong Kong to Bangkok. Since I moved back home fourweeks ago I've had a lot of time to think, and it dawned on me just how much of an adventure it has already been. Some say its reckless. Some have called it ballsy. I say its what life is all about. What started as an idea back in June has now come full force ... read more

TBagBay to TO. I haven’t been gone for 2 hours. I’m like some sort of weirdo magnet when I’m travelling. She’s in Row 7. It is the world’s loudest woman. She is yelling. I am two rows ahead of her and can hear everything she is saying clear as day. I can’t concentrate on my book because she is so loud. And none of it is interesting. Why is that? The people who are the loudest are also the dullest. So she is going on and on. Just mindless, I hate to say it, woman talk. The exact kind of woman I don’t want to be. I bet she’s wearing comfortable shoes. “We don’t spend a lot on Christmas. Really, it’s Christmas every day, you know what I mean”. No, no one knows what you mean. ... read more

New York We stayed in a lovely flat in Brooklyn (arranged via airb&b.com), a stones throw from the subway and local restaurants. With only 9 days and plenty to see off we set! Day 1: Massive breakfast in Brooklyn (maple syrup bacon & steak - meat feast!) and then out to Time Square to meet Tory’s friend Mark for a drink. On the way to the pub we passed a theatre in which Daniel Radcliff was performing and looked with pity at the line of people waiting for his autograph...an hour later we joined the line! Tory found her way to the front and competed successfully for Radcliff’s signature, alongside a 10 year old girl and a middle aged man with a tea tray and silver pen (No ordinary tea tray at that - It had ... read more

as you know, i try to do a blog entry daily (or as often as possible when on vacation). oddly enough, on this trip, even though I was in the US, it became difficult. No internet access in the National Parks makes sense, I guess, but the amount that the hotels at the end of the tour wanted for internet access was ridiculous. I'm home and hopefully will be able to actually detail my experiences over the weekend. ... read more

Could the start of a USA road trip begin any worse? Everything you could think of that could go wrong went wrong. Drenched and standing in front of an empty building with a For Lease sign on it. My road trip through the states was about to not even get started. My first port of call before seeing the sights of New York was the motor registration office to see if I could register a car. It turns out that a 3 month tourist visas doesn’t allow tourists to register. That meant I was left with the possibility to just risk it and buy a car on craigslist (a classifieds that provides a laugh or two on the prospect of driving the states in a ridiculous looking old car) and get pulled over. The other option ... read more

Last of the packing. Its possibly the earliest I have been awake since I arrived in NY and for the first time as I watched the sunrise over the industrial estate near me - I have seen a bird that ISNT a pigeon. Good luck little bird. This is a big cit for such a little creature! Next stop San Jose Costa Rica!!... read more
