Decidimos entonces ir a ver otro punto ... read more

Today was my last full day in Santa Fe. Friday I’ll break camp and head south to Bosque. This became - quite by accident - my ‘down day’ for this week. I plan to have some down time (at least in the middle of the day) while at Bosque but this was a welcome break. It was a beautiful sunny day here but fairly brisk and windy. I did a few things around the RV during the morning and early afternoon (including trying to post this entry but the site was bogging down) and went into town for a few hours in the afternoon. Wednesday was another fun day. I visited the Santa Fe Photographic Workshops offices and had a most pleasant visit. The friendly folks there gave me several good recommendations for a photographic drive. ... read more

Greetings from Santa Fe. This is the coldest it’s been since I left home. Monday while I was eating breakfast, I was welcomed to New Mexico with a brief snow shower! It was mostly cloudy, windy and cold Monday. Tuesday was a bit nicer with the sunshine, but it sure got chilly as the sun went down. My propane furnace has kicked in each of the last two evenings as the temps dropped below freezing. I discovered this is definitely the off season here. As I strolled around town yesterday I learned the historic plaza was fenced off and under construction. Then I looked down the street and saw scaffolding around St. Francis Cathedral. Sunday I was told there was a good city tour via tram. I decided that would be a good way to get ... read more

Kathy is awake at 4 this am. Now that’s 7 back home but….it is 4 in AZ. We would like to highly recommend the Best Western, they have the best water pressure in their showers, this is great for all those folks heading into and especially out of the canyon, or the big ditch as Trey calls it. They have a fire pit outside, which we didn’t take advantage of, since we retired to our room after the big Mexican fiesta! It is really cool this morning and we see there are a few leaves left on the Aspen trees. Kathy is a little groggy from her early awakening so she allows me to drive. After all, how much trouble can I get in we are flat and straight east. She does doze and we make ... read more

Imagine my delight when the morning after I finished my canvassing in Colorado Springs that I woke up and checked one of my regular websites, www.270towin.com, and saw that Colorado is now listed as a firmly BLUE state. Thursday it was a swing state, Friday it is predicted to go blue. Amazing coincidence?! I think NOT!! Today we, my host Jenny and her daughter plus friend, spent the morning on Pike's Peak (I got altitude sickness and had to go inside and drink hot chocolate) and at Garden of the Gods. Colorado is filled with beauty at every turn. As I traveled south to Santa Fe in the late afternoon, my heart was full as I recalled five days ago traveling north, not knowing what would happen in the next five days. Not only did I ... read more

Saturday September 27, 2008 Thursday it was time to move on to warmer climes. Santa Fe was on our list, as was art by Georgia O’Keeffe. In our new Pitt Meadows home, there are two fireplace walls just waiting for special decoration and one of our ‘must do’s’ on this trip was to find some southwestern art. Santa Fe is famous as an artist haven, and it more than lived up to the reputation. We approached Santa Fe from the north on highway 84. Little did we know that when Kayla called several halts on the highway just north of Santa Fe to take photos of the glorious layered cliffs and spires, we were also photographing Georgia O’Keeffe’s home at Ghost Ranch. Right away we recognized the photos of Ghost Ranch taken by others, some of ... read more

Quick words on Santa Fe. Adobe. Dry heat. Railway Runaway Cowboys. Smoky. Dustbowl. Canyon Street. Fine Art. Pork Burritos. Lamb Tacos. Religion. Three Deer. Pitch Black. Public Bathrooms. Gravel Pit. Wrong turns. Santa Fe to Flagstaff: 383 miles Flagstaff was a pleasant break. We stayed in a hotel called Little America and rubbed clean the stenches we’d been collecting from the airs of different towns. The hair is no longer oil soaked. My face is no longer scratchy with stubble. My thirsts for beer and hot tubs were each taken care of, regardless of the fact that it was raining at the time. Tomorrow we see the Grand Canyon... I'm doing eye stretches to get ready for the sight... read more
