Left Melbourne at around 10.00a.m. and arrived New York 5.30p.m. taking about 23 hrs. Had meet and assist organised for each airport and that worked really well, wheelchair...then taken through almost immediately through the Express counters...glad we did it as some of the walks were really long. Changed planes in LA with about 20 minutes to spare... A380 to LA then 747 to New York.. collected out hire car then drove to our home away from home in Union City. Lovely apartment with a great view of the Manhattan skyline.. 2 bedroom 2 bathroom with everything you need. Took a walk around the neighbourhood and had a pizza and refreshing beer for dinner at a local Italian restaurant. Well, in approximately 5 hours I will be getting up to get ready to head to Birmingham Airport to board my 9am flight to New Jersey. It still hasn't completely hit me that I will be staying in America for 3 weeks. I am excited, I'm an explorer and someone who likes adventure. I will be travelling with my younger brother, and we will be staying with our uncle in Morristown. I'll keep posted, but until then it's time to get some shut eye. Ciao for now.... read more

We spent 4 days in Atlantic City and it was windy must of the time and we couldn’t do our usual morning walks. There was nothing of my interest around the marina and we were isolated from the beach. The last couple of days we discovered that we could take a $2.50 pp jitney that would do a round trip to the beach. It is a gambling destination and unless you are here to gamble there is not much more. I wasn’t allowed to photograph the gambling tables and intentionally there was no Wifi ANYWHERE around the casino to force everyone to do nothing else but eat, drink and gamble. After San Francisco, I was on my way to the East Coast to spend my remaining time with family. First stop: Washington, DC I visited my sister and her family for a few days here. I love seeing my nephew and niece grow up. And it was amazing to know that G felt closer to me since we had spent that time together in Disney World last year. He still loves his planes and construction vehicles. My niece, on the other hand, was a different story. She and I bonded last year, but this year she was aloof - she only apparently wants her mom.
