Dear All First of all, a very Merry Christmas to one and all! Hope all who are reading this, if it happens to be on Christmas Day, are having a happy and holy holiday season – if not, hope you had a good one! I must admit, contrary to what the title of this blog says, I’m not actually writing this one from New York, but nearby – in a small town called Washington Crossing, just over the border from New Jersey into Pennsylvania state, about an hour by train from the Big Apple. Here is where my “tocaya” lives- tocayo/a is a Spanish word you use to refer to someone with the same name as you, and here lives a distant cousin of mine amazingly called “Alex Waring”, and staying with her here for a ... read more

We left Vegas in the early hours with our unwelcome souvenirs in tow – hangovers! It was a rough trip for us as our bodies adapted to life outside Sin City and we were grateful when we finally landed in our next destination – Washington D.C!! Washington was only going to be a flying visit of 2 nights for us – but it didn’t seem right to travel across the States and not take in the seat of power. When we arrived at our hotel hoping for a quiet night to continue recovering we were just thrilled to find our floor totally over-run by a kids group charging up and down the corridor, smashing! The next morning and a couple of coffee’s later we were ready to hit DC like a pair of proper tourists. It ... read more

And so there we have it. Today is the day I leave. I made a huge thank you to all the people I met on my trip. They made it much more enriching for me. The world worth experiencing is with the people you meet. In my case, some I already knew from the internet. But I can sure say it was a privilege to meet others as well. I left my hostel at 11am after a shower. It took me quite some time to get to Newark airport, but that was fine; I allowed myself plenty of time. It’s better to arrive early and wait for ages, than to miss your flight. I took advantage of my greyhound bus pass for the final time. I basically got a free transfer to Newark, a half-hour ride ... read more

We went to the Tower of London today. It was originally a prison, but then it transformed into a vault. The vault holds many priceless items from the kings and queens of England, such as, King Henry VIII, Queen Victoria's crowns and armour and other priceless items. Many people were executed right on the lawn in front of the old monarch's house. Harrods was just Macy's only much larger. It was very crowded and very expensive. You could easily get lost. THe only thing I liked there was the Egyptian escalator. ... read more

First we went to Windsor Castle, which was huge. The walls were high, and the queen owns one side of the castle and the king another. There are many guards there because the queen goes to Windsor Castle during the summer vacation time. There are lots of paintings on the wall, statues, and priceless objects. Next we saw Stonehenge. It is a very stunning view of a prehestoric statue. It is a circle of rocks, but it is somehow shaped like a calendar. You are not allowed to get close to the rocks because people will try to break off a piece of them to take home. No one knows how it was formed, or what it was used for, but it could have been a calendar, a prehistoric temple, or a very fancy house from ... read more

I am very excited for my trip to England! Today my dad went and got some pounds. Pounds are the currency in England. It is only 10 more days until my trip. This will be my first trip to a different continent. I also heard that they have lots of statues there. London seems to be the biggest, and most popular city in England. We were going to Paris too, but I guess we aren't. We'll at least im going to a country that speaks my language, or I would be lost. My mom has already started packing some things for her trip, that she needs for work. Yes, work! She might be going to a different country, but we are only going because it is a business trip for my mom. Mostly I will not ... read more

So we went to Atlantic City and found that we couldn't connect to any wifi there at all, therefore, we haven't been able to update our blog for a few days now! Thankfully, we really didn't do much in Atlantic City over the couple of days that we were there, so even though this entry will cover three days, it should be relatively short! There are also not many pictures, as there was really not much to take pictures of! On Tuesday, we woke to our last morning in Philadelphia, which happened to also be Craig's birthday! Emma gave him his card, which she had been hiding in her bag (trying her best to keep it flat!) since the beginning of the trip. He didn't have any other cards or presents to open (Emma had paid ... read more
