I was really lucky to get invited to stay with Ryan and his family at their holiday home in Lincoln, New Hampshire. Ryan drove up on the 26 of June, and I came in his car - as we were leaving early. I had to be in New York on the 28 of June to fly back to Amsterdam. He didn’t mind only going for one day. The ride up there was pretty nice. Actually I really enjoyed New Hampshire, from the surrounding nature and the people who lived there. They were really friendly. When we got there we checked into the accommodation and then Ryan took me to the river down by the lodge for a walk. After that he decided to chill out in the lodge. I was still full of energy so I ... read more

OLYMPICS!!!!! This morning I woke up and found Munchkins by our door (donut holes) and the girls were up at 6:45, so we decided to let them get up early because of their excitement and because it is Mikaylas birthday!! She turns 9 today! Opening Ceremonies was crazy! Each side had cheers and we were going back and forth, then we lit the Olympic torch. Let the games begin! For junior camp we first had Boating, then Team Sport, Individual Sport, Tug of War, and Swimming. So the girls were in sports such as Canoeing, Kayaking, Soccer, Kickball, Tennis, Archery, 50 yard dash, and Relays. At the sports that I went too DC was dominating!!! We were ahead by 200 points for the whole day until the Apache Relay, this relay included the whole camp, all ... read more

This morning we hiked Piermont Mountain, the girls were so pumped for it even though we have been prepping them that it would be difficult! No girls from bunk 12A cried or whined, but we had other cabins with us and they cried and whined and it was a difficult hike but they all did awesome! It took us about an hour and a half to get up and then we ate lunch and relaxed for 2 hours at the top; it was such a nice day, the sun was out and it was really warm. We then hiked down which took 58 minutes and had showers and quiet time and then BBQ and square dance. Busy busy day!!! The girls just realized that there is only a week left of camp….it is crazy how time ... read more

Today has been great! When Reveille went off all my girls had their teeth brushed and were dressed for the day...on top of their game!! If only every morning was like this! We had breakfast, then our morning announcements, and then SIGS, I was the counselor in Nature and this week the topic is Mission Impossible, so we made air guns and decoder maps. The girls then had tennis and I was able to catch up on letter writing which I am behind on! The wind really picked up and it got really cold out, so instead of free swim we stayed in the cabin and played games and danced! After lunch we had water-ski and the sun peeped out for a while, so we were able to catch some rays! After all the girls went ... read more

This morning the girls had softball, it was fun to see them play! BUT 2 girls got hurt, Mira caught a ball with her face instead of her glove and Mikayla dove for a ball and dove too far and it hit her knee instead. All of our girls are getting injured! They then had nature, lunch, swimming lessons, soccer and boating. After our picnic dinner we had hobby night, I was in charge of knitting and luckily the girls in my group, who were from middle camp, already knew how to knit, so I was able to sit back and knit for myself! Bedtime was easy and I was exhausted, but we had a staff meeting at 9:30. When I got back from the staff meeting there was a mouse in my room. I always ... read more

We woke up this morning late and left for Montpelier. Montpelier was on the way to Burlington which was our destination for the day. We walked around the capital which was nice and then we went to the Ben and Jerry’s factory in Waterbury---where Ben and Jerry’s was first opened. We then drove to Burlington which was really cute and went to a couple of the stores before lunch. We went to a pizza parlor for lunch and then off to the beach. It was an awesome relaxing day! We then had a late dinner and stopped by a park to make some phone calls before we headed back to camp. We stopped by Bradford on the way home to celebrate Joe, a fellow staff member’s birthday and we were back at camp by midnight.... read more

The girls had tennis this morning so I was able to go to the CK to catch up on internet and talk to Jessica, Wes and Torey about our plans for our day off. It is just the 4 of us, and this is our last day off! I can’t believe how fast this summer is going! We then had boating, and the weather was so nice out so I went to the middle of the lake and just sat there! We then had swimming after lunch, and again, on such a nice day it felt great! This evening was bunk night, so we requested a campfire with s’mores and it was granted! We were able to have our campfire with Bunk 11 and it was a blast. Jesse brought her guitar and both Steve and ... read more

The kids were us and making noise at 6:30…..YAH for sleeping in!  We heard screaming and Connor yelled “Girls, be quiet” I heard that and I walked out of the tent and rushed over to the girls and opened their tent and said “what is going on?” in a stern voice. I had 4 girls with “deer in headlight” looks at me, and one of them rose their hand and spoke up “that was not us, the boys sound like girls when they scream” it was a true story because when I went over to the boys tent they had about 6 slugs in there and they were throwing them around at each other! Oh boys…..they are fun to travel with and fun to be with but I am glad I have girls for 7 ... read more

Today started really early! It was Andres last day at camp because he was a counselor for the 4 week kids, so to commemorate him and for a great good bye, we hiked Piermont…..at 4:30am!!! It was Andree, Jessica, Wes, and Fred. Yes yes I know in my last entry I mentioned that Piermont is closed….and it was….but it was only because there was so much rain and there was a lot of debris in the path. (For those of you asking why Piermont Mountain….here is why, the only entrance to hike it is in camp, (camp owns the path) and to go on other hikes we all have to hop onto a bus for an hour to get there….so Piermont made the most sense.) We do have a lot of tourists come to hike Piermont, ... read more
