Today is family visiting day at camp, mostly grandparents come this weekend and parents will come the next weekend. So we had extra cabin cleanup time this morning and we then waited on the front lawn for the grandparents to come! It was so emotional for me to see the girls and their siblings run to their grandparents and give them hugs and kisses! The girls were so excited to show them the cabin and the grandparents had many many gifts for them….tons and tons of candy that will need to be “disposed” of at the end of the day!! (Campers are not supposed to have any kind of food in the cabins and we are supposed to throw it away, but it mostly just stays in the counselor’s room!) It was really nice to meet ... read more

We woke up and were stoked to go back to Baker River. We went into the cafeteria and grabbed something to go since we were going to have a later breakfast, so I grabbed a banana and some tea. We all left for Baker river and Jeff made us Chocolate ship pancakes for breakfast. After breakfast we cleaned up and went for a swim, the water, the weather and the sun were wondrous!!! We walked about a mile up river and explored around. When we walked back down river we found some natural rock slides and had fun….I tried it and boy the water was cold but it was fun! For lunch we made grilled cheeses and grilled peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. We then sunbathed more on the rocks and told some camp stories. By ... read more

It was hard to get up this morning but I eventually made it out of bed and got all the girls to breakfast! I took the morning off and Amberlynn took the afternoon off, so I was able to go to swimming lessons and soccer this afternoon. At 4:00 we left for Baker River which is an over night trip, no hiking, just camping. We arrived there around 4:45 and explored the River while our Campcraft Jeff made spaghetti for dinner! The girls were so excited that there were no potties out there and they had to go in the woods. So they all explored the “woods” while we were setting up the tents and the rest of the campsite. (yes we have odd girls!) We enjoyed our spaghetti and found wood to start a campfire. ... read more

Very chilly today, rained on and off, the girls had tennis in the morning and then boating. We kayaked; it is so nice to be on the water, very relaxing and peaceful! The girls then had lunch, swimming and then dancing. For electives all the girls wanted to work on the car for the Whitman 500, which is a relay race, I will be unable to see is since I will be in BOSTON tomorrow!!! We found a cardboard box and put straps on it and we came up with a jungle theme for our car! The girls made very cute animals. One thing I learned….let kids tell YOU what they made…my mistake….I told Lauren that she made an adorable Monkey and looks at me and says “it’s a lion”…oh man…..my comeback was that she was ... read more

Today was Lazy Monday again which meant late Reville! All the girls were up by 6:30 though, Reville goes off at 7:45 and that extra half hour is really nice! We spent 2 hours in the cabin cleaning and getting everything organized before assembly. After assembly is lunch and right after lunch we had waterskiing. We had to drive to another lake and we split in 2 boats and all the girls were able to water-ski, and knee board, there was unfortunately no time for me to go, but maybe next time! It was nice to be on the lake and for one time in New Hampshire it was not raining, we were able to have nice sunny weather and be on the water for an hour and a half!  After waterskiing we rushed to ... read more

This morning we had our hike and it was a glorious day. It did not rain on our hike which was nice and when we got to the top we were able to spend some time up there and eat lunch and baste in the beautiful sunshine! When we got back to camp it was straight to the showers, it was all cold water though since every other cabin showered. After showers we had a needed quiet time before dinner. After dinner we were supposed to have Ninja night which the CIT’s were planning (Counselors in training) but it poured here and a humongous storm is in the forecast, so we will see what tonight brings, right now it is lightening and thundering and pouring buckets of rain. So instead of Ninja night we had a ... read more

Amberlynn left for her day off last night so I have the girls to myself all today!!! The Reveille went off and all the girls were up right away!! The sun was also out which is SOOO much better than the rain! They all got ready speedy and cleaned up their areas, they listened so well!!! Breakfast was great and then we had chores which again went marvelously!!! I had no problems with any of the girls and they were all so helpful! We had SIGS first, I am at nature now instead of cooking and we made fudge slime, which is basically melted fudge that they could eat!!! Then they were off to tennis, which gave me time to catch up on e-mail and needed errands! Free time was next and it was glorious today! ... read more

Wes, Joe, Jessica and I had the day off so we all arrived in Montreal today we decided to park in a parking garage and walk the town. We went to Tim Mortons for breakfast which is like Starbucks of Canada. We then found old Montreal which was beautiful and replicated France in the 1600’s. We also stopped by the Cathedral (Notre Dome) which was absolutely breathtaking and I could of spent hours there! We then found lunch and then hiked the Mountain in town which gave a beautiful view of the town. We then walked around town some more and got dinner, and by then it was time to go!!! I think the biggest surprise in Canada was that everyone spoke French and all the signs were in French, and when we asked someone for ... read more

The girls had tennis for the first activity so I was able to talk with the other counselors about our day off…we are thinking Montreal! They then had boating, and it was a chilly rainy day, unfortunately after lunch we also had swimming and we had to swim in the pouring rain….I am so jealous of NE weather now, we have not had one warm day, because even if the sun is out there is still a cool chilly breeze that’s makes you grab a light jacket….and I am still white, no tan for me this summer!!! :o) They then had dance and then dinner. Dinner was amazing; it was a thanksgiving dinner, turkey, mashed potatoes, stuffing, corn, and cranberry sauce….yummy! Middle camp put on a play tonight. (Each cabin puts on a 15 min play) ... read more

Today is the first time we were able to use “lazy Monday” for today. The Reveille woke us up at 7:45 instead of the regular 7:15 (but it did go off 10 min late which was nice!) Breakfast was fast because Monday is the big clean up day and we get graded for the possibility for the golden toilet brush!!! So we spent an hour cleaning and scouring our cabin!!! Our girls all did a good job…but they have a lot of stuff!!! We then had our community meeting where the whole camp met in the ampatheater, which is just a clearing in the woods with logs for sitting, there we sang songs and had announcements, it lasted an hour and a half, they also mentioned the winner of the golden toilet brush which was not ... read more
