Today was by far the fastest passing day yet. Up at 6am, next thing you know, it's almost 1pm. Tons of things accomplished. Crossed a bunch off of the list, even managed to get a few hours of good snow under the belt before the the final send off. Last drink in the bar, picked up the mugs. Got some really good conversations about the trip with some great friends today. I really appreciate how supportive everyone has been. Very excited for us and can't wait to read and hear about our major adventures. Managed to take the chair lift up with some great friends and just reminisce over the year and chat about memories from the Heave (Heavenly) and what the future can bring. I can't believe we are going on this wild and crazy trip. I have never really been anywhere or seen many things outside of my daily travels. I have been so excited and haven't been able to sleep much the last couple days. I keep thinking of things that we are going to do and how much fun we are going to have that I wake up and my mind starts racing. Not racing bad, but racing in a good way. I made up this really hokey song that I can't get out of my head. I try to sing it to Don, but he just laughs at me and howls at the moon from my poor singing ability... which makes me laugh and then I stop and hum the chorrus to myself. One week to go!!! Still don't have plane tickets in hand, travel agent assures that all is well. Still a little worried about the Delta Airlines proposed strike. If all goes as we have read in the papers or web, a strike, if it happens, won't start untill April 17 at the earliest, and by that time we will be in Zurich heading to Chamonix. Over this weekend we saw news accounts from Kathmandu and fighting in the streets. We knew about the political problems as we were planning the trip. From most accounts it looked like we didn't have much to worry about being tourists particularly since we were going to be in the mountains. Road blockades and curfews had little effect on what we were planning on doing. The news accounts make this situation ... read more
