I'd never been to Cape Cod before and didn't know what to expect. A beach area is a beach area, right? Wrong!!! The ocean water temperature is COLD! There was pounding surf and miles of beaches but I voted to let my feet and legs stay sandy to stay out of the cooler than what I was used to, water temperatures. After my second day at the Cape (Orleans to be exact), I mentioned to my daughter that I was slightly bored. We stayed at "A Little Inn on Pleasant Bay" an absolutely fantastic and picturesque location within minutes of Nausset Beach. "You're kidding, right?" she asked. "You're on Cape Cod, you're supposed to do nothing, just relax." Well, this is new to me. I'm used to South Carolina and Florida Beaches where you head up ... read more

We’ve been travelling around a lot in the last couple of weeks so just got the time to update y’all on what we have been up to. Apart from Boston (where the people are really up themselves) we have had a really positive experience of the US - like totally yeah! We are both thinking in American. So much has been happening that we’ll just give you a flavour of what is happening out here. (By the way Live free or Die is the motto of New Hampshire) The big issues are the same as in the UK - petrol costs (up past $4 a gallon but today we paid $3.65 say £1.90 a gallon), house prices (down by up to 24%), and the Obama/McCain contest. On petrol - cars out here are advertised boasting that ... read more

On Sunday, June 29, 2008 Daddy began his day early to ride his bike all over the place after feeding Isabella (He did all the 5:00 am feedings). During the vacation he rode to Nauset Light, Coast Guard, Lecounts Hollow, Calhoon's Hollow, White Crest, South Sunken Meadow, Cook's Brook, and Campground beaches. He also rode along the Cape Cod Rail Trail and on roads throughout Eastham. In the morning he usually picked up ice coffee from Dunkin Donuts for mommy before coming home (she would be asleep with Isabella because she always did the 2:30 a.m. feedings). Later in the day on Sunday we went to the Wellfleet flea market, played around the yard, visited Coast Gaurd Beach (with Russ and Sophie), and ate at Finely JP's restaurant in Wellfleet (formerly known as "My Brother's Place ... read more

On Saturday, June 28, 2008 Isabella, Mom, Dad, Sophie, and Russ arrived in Eastham, MA around 2:45 pm. We rented a 200-year-old Cape home on Campground Road, which was a 15-minute-walk to Cape Cod Bay (Campground Beach) and a short bike ride to the Hole-in-One bakery! Upon arrival, Daddy searched the house for air-conditioners (two upstairs!). He quickly moved them into the beadroom & livingroom. The house was old, but quaint. There was an outdoor shower that was in great shape, and will be used often. After setting up at the house, we shopped at Stop & Shop and ate dinner at Russ & Marie's Marconi Grill in Wellfleet. . . mmmmm. . . yummy smoked ribs! Before going to bed we walked to the Bay, but the bugs were bitting and even found a way ... read more

On Tuesday, July 1, 2008 we got a late start to the day. We drove on Route 6A and stopped at a few shops along the way. One place we stopped was The Strawberry Patch in Brewster because Mommy likes it there. She bought Isabella a book called Good Night Cape Cod. That night we ate dinner at Mac's Seafood! Mommy and Daddy had lobsters at the Wellfleet Habah (Harbor). Isabella slept through the entire meal, but several people commented on how cute and peaceful she was:-) We then made a quick stop by the Orleans Cardinal game before heading home. On Wednesday, July 2, 2008 Isabella enjoyed her first outdoor shower. We went for our daily walk to the bay beach and hung around the house during the day. We had dinner at Mac's Seafood's ... read more

On Monday, June 30, 2008 "Sandy Belly" (AKA Isabella) visited Campgound Beach with Mommy and Daddy. It was windy and sunny so Daddy set up the beach tent, which was not an easy task. After a day at the beach we had a yummy dinner at the Wicked Oyster in Wellfleet. Daddy had a yummy Haddock dish and a cranberry mojito, and Mommy enjoyed sangria with her Monkfish wrapped in prosciutto. Isabella ate some Infamil during the meal so she could feel like she was eating out, also!... read more

hello everyone! heres my first entry! im still in the states, but i went to YFU Pre-Departure Orientation to prepare for my time abroad this last weekend. it was SO much fun! We went around to seminars on different things like "realistic expectations", "meet the critic" and "family living" and that sort of thing, and then later on we played games and had time to hang out and just have fun. I met a lot of really cool people headed off on exchanges also and hopefully will be able to stay in touch with them especially while i'm abroad. anyway, here are a few pictures that i got from the facebook group for the PDO (i was too busy having a good time to take pictures)... read more

Heading South from Boston we stopped off in Provincetown a small fishing town in Cape Cod. Benji had given us the choice to either go to the beach for the day or go on the Whale Watching boat trip that alighted in the harbour. I was disappointed because out of the group only myself and one other decided to go. The trip cost $35 that lasts 3-4 hours but I was hesitant to hand over this much money because I knew these animals were not performing moneys in a zoo and viewings are not guaranteed. I was reassured by the pledge that if there was no sightings, our money would be refunded or we would be given a ticket for a future trip. Looking at the boat I was put at ease, it was of an ... read more

Cape Cod - Day 10? 11? For all of you wondering who Francis is...... he's a close personal friend who has travelled with us before, and refused to be left at home when the opportunity arose to travel the globe. Unfortunately he's a bit of a girl, and any time he's photographed, he tends to be very red!! We have captured him on film a couple of times and once we reach a hotel with anything like modern equipment, we'll upload a photo or two.... promise!! We're in Cape Cod - out in the Atlantic, being blasted by Arctic feeling winds, and with the forecast saying heavy snow in the next few days - yay! we're flying to the West tomorrow so we miss it - boo! The best bit of heading to Vegas tomorrow is ... read more
