---- April 23rd ------ Time is flying. I'm having trouble getting in contact with my second host farm, so I may end up just waiting until I get to Ireland and calling them. I've got all of my documentation now - passport, student ID (I'm using the ISE card), and WWOOF card. Score. Speaking of the passport.. It looks like an easter egg. I expected it to be all official looking, which I guess it is on the outside, but... man. The inside is all pretty and GLOWY and IRIDESCENT and the anti-fraud watermarks are sparkly. And that's besides the fact that it's pink and purple. .... US Government? This is one of those days where, in some weird, unexplainable, goofball ways.. I heart you. ------ May 23rd -------- Okay, last day. I graduate this afternoon, ... read more

OK, everyone, I 'm as new to this as you are! I decided you all cared enough about me to want to keep tabs on me while I spend 6 months in Germany. Primarily. Get ready to be amazed, because I know I am. The last few days have been a blur to me, what with trying to get out of Manhattan and into Kansas City to tackle the messy ordeal of packing. Traumatic events up to now include: one last hurrah with my peeps in Manhattan, dropping my kitty off at her new home-for-the-next-six-months, sending John back up to school (we tried, and agreed that his knees would never forgive him if we zipped him up into the second suitcase to send him with me), trying to get everything done the night before leaving. If ... read more

Hi Everyone,   Guess what! They changed my Staples remodel destination again. First it was supposed to be New Jersey or Pennsylvania, then it was supposed to be Kernersville, NC. Now I think I actually know where I'm going because I have a flight # and hotel reservation. I'm staying in Bradford, PA and working about a half hour away in Olean, NY. Olean is in the south western part of New York and not anywhere near The City. I do want to do some sight-seeing on our only day off  on Sunday. The closest interesting things are Buffalo and Jamestown, NY and Niagara Falls and they,re about 2 and a half hours away.   We fly out of Wichita on Wed June 2 and flying into Buffalo, NY later that night. That will be cool.   :)   Will tell you more when I ... read more

May 14: We worked 8-5. Staples turned 18 years old and the store bought cake for everyone to celebrate. After work the 6 of us went to eat dinner at El Charro Mexican Resaurant. It wasn't bad, but I agree with Jana when she said, "I wouldn't make a special trip to come back." Gary, our Staples project manager, was supposed to meet us there, but Jana accidentally gave him the wrong directions and he didn't find it. He ate somewhere else that night. After we ate I drove around to get a feel for the town. It's way too small for me although it has everything someone could need: plenty of shopping, fast food, convenience stores, churches, libraries, a football field-size pool, nice roads and neighborhoods, etc. Just a small town. Then I went back ... read more

Part 2: Staples Remodel -- Garden City, KS Garden City, KS -- Staples Remodel -- May 19, 2004 Scott City Trip I had a happy surprise yesterday. Kelly drove from Wichita to Garden City, KS where I'm working this week. He had the day off and he loves to travel in his new car. Three weeks ago he bought a 2004 Hundai Elantra. It's a beautiful marroon color, and has a sunroof and an awesome stereo. He had to talked to his dad and step-mom who live in Scott City, KS (about a half-hour from Garden City) and told them that he wanted them to meet me. He wanted us to go to Scott City for dinner, but they didn't have any nice restaurants so they decided to come here. We ate at Applebees. When we ... read more

Staples Romodel -- Garden City, KS -- May 13, 2004 Hey Everyone! Yesterday I made it to Garden City without seeing any of the tornadoes that hit Central Kansas. In fact, I had mostly clear skies for the whole 4 hour drive from Wichita. When I got here I realized Garden City isn't on the Sprint network yet so I went to the nearest library (like anything is far here) and e-mailed my friends and my parents with my hotel info and asked them to call me. I might have to get a phone card. This morning we all met for breakfast at the hotel restaurant: Susy Q from Omaha, Suzanne, Nicki, and Chris from Kansas City, and Jana and me from Wichita. I hadn't met Chris or Nicki before. They seem nice. The restaurant took ... read more

Coronado Heights -- May 5, 2004 Last week my friend Kelly and I took a roadtrip in his new car from Wichita Kansas where we live to Salina, Kansas to visit my parents. The next day on our way back to Wichita we decided to go to Coronado Heights (CH) near Lindsborg. He had never been there before and it had been a very long time since I'd been there and we both wanted to go. We took the Lindsborg exit off of I-35 and drove west until we saw another sign telling us to turn again. We turned onto the steep, winding dirt road that lead to the top of the hill where Coronado Heights is. CH is a small two-story stone fort and picnic area built on top of a hill by the WPA ... read more

++Every year I write a Xmas letter that goes in the Xmas card. In DEC09 I found a bunch of the old letters and I thought I would post them here in this blog.++ I hope this find everyone well and looking forward to great xmas! Another year is getting ready to be a memory. Time flies doesn’t it? The older I get the faster it seems to go. As I write this I am once again working in FL. The office refers to them as my ‘vacations’. Which is more correct then I would admit to them. J I really like working on the road instead of in the office. These trips let me travel (vacation) without the expense of transportation, hotels and food. I work hard during the week, but I play hard on ... read more
