This morning Amanda was still a bit ill and were about to go down to the “local clinic”, but she seemed to come right eventually - not quite 100% but just about. Due to our late night we didn’t manage to get up in time for the free breakfast our Hostel puts on between 9 and 10am - so we ate Sunita’s oreo cookies and got a burger from McDonalds just to make sure that we were entering American culture in the upmost of true American style. Attached you will see a photo of Shannon standing half dead in front of me at the queue at McDonalds. We both pretty much felt the same until we had that fatty McD’s goodness in our stomachs. We then decided that eating at McDonalds every day would probably be ... read more

So that's it! Finally I had to say goodbye to my new home Hawaii. Right now I'm writing you from Phoenix,AZ where my aunt lives. It's strange. On the one hand you're looking forward to see your family for the holidays and later all your friends back home, but on the other hand you have to leave behind your new family and friends that you made.... somehow for me, my roommates and the people around were like a second family even though I never mentioned it to them. I just hope to see them all again! Man, I think I will never forget this great experience on Hawaii and all the people that I met. I want to say "thank you and see you soon" to all the following people and everybody else I forgot: (no ... read more

Today is my 7th day in Hawaii. Its about 24 degrees right now, the coldest its been here. BRRR!. Ive been almost everything possible on this island so far. Yesterday I was on O'ahu's North Shore, on Sunset Beach watching the surfing. The Vans Triple Crown competition was on, but the waves were only 15 feet so they posponed the competition. But the Pipeline at Sunset Beach was crazy. The waves break right on to huge rocks and coral, and I think I saw some dude die but Im not sure. After that I went to Mokuleia where this sweet beach is (Lost was filmed here). The plan for today is to spend the entire day boogieboarding on Kailua Beach. Honolulu and Waikiki suck!. I spent a day there by accident and god there were way ... read more

Just a short little bit on Hawaii. I am writing this on December 6th and tomorrow I am going home, I really want to spend as much time as I can with my friends, so I am going to make this quick. Hawaii was great. I expected a cheesy vacation destination much like what I encountered in the Bahamas. Instead I was welcomed it the best way back to the USA. For only being there a night and a day my friends and I managed to meet many people and do lots of things. The best thing I did was to go snorkeling. I had never done it before, but had been told I should. Now I am addicted! It was so much fun to just float along with the fishies. We ate good food and ... read more

Ok, Ok! I have to admit, I was very lazy in the last time so I didn't do any new blogs. I hope you can forgive me for that. As a compensation I will put more pictures in it. Most of you people don't read my blogs anyway and just watch the pictures, or do you? :-) Anyway I have to keep the timeline the way it should be. Therefore you get this time over a month old pictures. First you will see my first trip to another island. And I have to tell you.... it was AWESOME!!! A nice young lady from Munich visited me, so I had a good reason to travel elsewhere. So we decided to go to Big Island. It's bigger than all the other islands together but not even one tenth ... read more

Dear All, Arriving in Hawaii in the dark, was a little like having to wait to open a birthday present, as it was only the next day that were able to see the island of Oahu in all its glory. The only hint that we were much further South, was the fact that it was about 25 deg. (C) at 10pm!!!! The next morning we were not disappointed, Hawaii truely is paradise on earth. (Apologies to all those currently in the grip of a Northern Winter) On the first day, we ventured out of our hostel and on to the famous Waikiki beach. We were a block from the beach and staying in a real surfer establishment, which was actually perfectly in keeping with our time in Hawaii. Our first goal was to find a place ... read more

And I’m proud to be an American where at least I know I’m free. And I won’t forget the men who died, who gave that right to me. And I’d gladly stand up next to you and defend her still today. ‘Cause there ain’t no doubt I love this land God bless the U.S.A I have never been more proud, in my life, to be an American citizen as I am now. After being gone for 3months, it feels pretty good to be back “home,” on American soil. It feels pretty darn good, to tell you the truth! The 26 hours that we spent in Hawaii were awesome. I didn’t end up making it to Pearl Harbor, but I created my own history instead. No, I didn’t get married, but this confirmed my plans to get ... read more
